Mute point.....I digress.... Where are these so called "over-populations"? Major urban areas.
-
Right or wrong they warned they would do some drastic things. Pretty plain to see how the reaction went over; http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/28507-get-your-vaseline-ready-ny-its-here/ Hard to cry over the same glass of spilled milk if you helped tip it over.

Already a discussion on this one: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/30785-environmental-assessment-white-tailed-deer-damage-management-in-new-york/

So let me get this straight. After reading the "proposals" three times it's all about noise? Well, you won't get much quieter then a firkin bow! If you are in it for the challenge, then buy a bow and learn to use it. NY won't allow flash suppressors or the like, but now they want to add air rifles to the mix? To eliminate sound of guns being fired? Am I the only one who sees no logic in this?

Good point. Wonder why the 410 with a slug would be over looked in favor of an air rifle? So a promotion of a "head shot" ? Just asking, not arguing. I guess I have no issue with them being used as long as they are extremely effective and do not have a probability of wounding big game with no recovery. I was happy when they allowed them for small game, and I sure did have some fun over the summer getting some frogs with mine. I will say this, if our government tries to tell me I have to turn over my actual firearms for a bb-gun ( don't care how powerful they are or how you try to spin it, still a bb-gun ), they aren't a few sandwiches short of a picnic, they don't even know what a picnic is!

Please Help Me Make Up My Mind
DirtTime replied to Water Rat's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Doesn't Savage Arms have a factory in Canada? How do your know where the gun was made? Does it say on the imprint if was made in the USA or Canada? Maybe the serial number has something that says where it was made. Lotta people swear by Franchi guns, which if I remember right were bought out by Beretta ( another well renowned name ) and are manufactured in Italy. On another note, didn't our US Military change from the Colt 911 to the Beretta M9 as the standard issue service side arm? Turkey makes some great guns as well. I have a Howa, which is more or less the Vanguard, it handles, shoots well, cycles great, and is pretty damn accurate. I don't see the big deal on where the gun was made. -
Stuffed peppers. White rice, burger, hot Italian sausage, diced jalapeno filling, and topped with tomato sauce . Have enough filling left to make myself a few galumpkis for lunch tomorrow.

Snarky comment caught and recognized. Depending on where the land is, people can get a butt load of money for land sold for development. Not hard to figure that out, Google can be used for more then coming here. Just sayin...... There seems to be a lot more game that can adapt to the new urban areas then we think. The whitetail deer seems to be one of them. Turkey is another.

Happy Birthday bubba.

I was aiming at the whole state. Not Just one area.

Never been big on Christmas, wasn't celebrated growing up so now it's not a big deal to me. The better half on the other hand............Usually the tree goes up on Black Friday, this year neither of us were really in the mood so I just put our tree up today. The g/f started making gift baskets about 4 years ago for her family, a few of my family members, and my buddy and his parents. She used to make homemade wine jelly, homemade fudge, and homemade banana bread. We put that in baskets with cards. This year no jelly or fudge. Instead she made homemade chocolate balls ( fluffy coa-coa center with a crunchy shell ( like a Milky Way ) ), the banana bread, and she took some unsalted butter, whipped it with a blender, and made her own honey butter for the bread.

Those areas seem like easy targets to rif-raff. Being in the country I think they feel home onwers might not pay as much attention or even feel safer. Or maybe they think getting away would be easier as longer times for LEO to get there. Have to keep a sharp eye out in the country these days as much as living in a city. At least you got the truth now.

This thought came to me reading another thread, and instead of taking that off topic I decided to make a thread about how you feel about land development in NY. What are your thoughts on land development and our game animals? It seems like DEC and other organizations are pushing to severely reduce our deer population. I honestly don't think they want to eradicate deer or any other game from NY. But, that just MHO. As more and more land is bought ( with the original owner making a huge profit ) and used to create housing complexes, malls, and w/e, areas become more and more urban. Animals get used to it and move back in, in some areas, creating an issue for over population of some game as we are not allowed to hunt many of these areas popping up. Also creating a loss of game to those areas, as some game may not come back. The more land we loose to things like "Barfs Paradise Condominiums: A Quit Community", "Dumblefooks Mall", "Sleezy Daks Casino", and the like, the less land we have to hunt.

I plan to learn how to make my own soap for next year. Apple and corn scented. They can't ban soap!

I love stuffed peppers! On the menu one night this week.

When I bought my 12ga I bought a box of Hevi Game from Hevi-Shot, they are lead and only $11 per 25. 2-3/4" #6 and at 35 yards they had a good pattern. I would not shoot much farther with them I also bought a box of Rio Bismuth 3" #4. I shot two and was impressed. Tighter at 35yds so I would not think twice of a 40-45 yd shot with them. This is my turkey load. Great option if you are worried about steel messing up your barrel. I am just not sure they make a 3" for a 20.

Does Genny still make that bock stuff? That was some nasty beer. Didn't that can have a sheep on it?

LOL! Are you kidding? I wear a divers suit to hold in my scent from a turkey! I learned that 30 years ago when a turkey winded me, lowered it's head, stomped a foot and ran away.

Never seen anyone nuke a wing except on Taffers 'Bar Rescue'. Heh, I still like BWW's. If most people knew how TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays, and all those restaurants like that got and cooked the food they wouldn't eat there either. That fresh steak was fresh last year. LOL Dammit, now I want hot wings.

What about Schlitz, Lowenbrau, and Meister Brau? Ack, Black Label and PBR. I would rather drink Milwaukee's Best.

Made homemade turkey soup last night and leftovers tonight. The only think I missed from living in WNY was Buffalo Wild Wings. Couple years ago they opened one in Clifton Park and I did somersaults. They have some pretty good wings as well, with plenty of choices from plain to pretty frikin' hot. I like the mango habanero and the "Reformulated Blazin' ". Wild used to be the hottest, but...............
