  1. Capitol Region. Says so right under my avatar. I sure ain't givin my street addy to anyone on the web. LOL Why do you ask?
  2. So, are saying offering a deer a $50 won't make him just lay down for me? Damn..
  3. Um.....Did you mean "DOE" permits? Unlimited?
  4. Not gonna make this a winded out story.... Used to have a spot in Summit we hunted. Took a lot of deer off this land. The jerk ( my sisters boyfriend/hubbu/w;e ) that taught me to hunt had started doing some things I wanted no part of. So, I stopped hunting the whole Summit area for a couple years. Now, just so you know, whenever possible, I start my scouting in May. Decided to head out there. Got to the land, knowcked on the door, and a young woman answered, letting me know that her father had passed on, and they were not allowing anyone to hunt the land anymore due to someone setting a camp in the ld house that sat in the middle of the apple orchard. I thought."Hmmmmm". So, I decided to stop by another area. The owner said I could hunt the land if I would pop in once a onth and help out with some farming duty. So, I spent time one day every weekend a month helping stack hey, cleat the troths, and even shovel cow poop. Thanksgiving weekend I took a nice little 4, and once we got it in the trunk of the car, I took the heart, liver, and the backbone tenderloins to the mas door. He was happy as can be. Up untill about 7 years ago, even though I wasn't hunting at the time, I sent X-Mas cards to him. When I got a letter back saying he had passed, and they were selling the land and the farm, I stopped sending the cards. You have to treat the land owners with a high amounf of respect, and maybe go out a little to keep up good relations. Also, after reading this thread 2x, you never did answer if there really was a coyote issue.
  5. I know price don't matter. Most times. I asked because when I was doing the research, they got pretty high reviews. For being a Wally-World arrow. When I called CE they said they do infact make the arrows and try to uphold the warranty. I was just curious if anyone else used/tried them and what their thoughts were.
  6. It seems like most folks in here are shooting some high end gear, but, I have a question. Being on a tight budget for my bow gear this season, I decided to try the Carbox Express Wolverine Hunter in 5060, with 125's on the dangerous end. For a cheaper arrow, at $5.50 a peice, they seem to be doing pretty well for me. They fly straight, and even after putting one almost to the fletching through a 1/2 inch sheet of roofing grade plywood, it still flies true. I like them better then the old XX75's I used to use. Has anyone here ever used them? What did you think?
  7. I posted in another thread on this same sort of thing. Back in '92 I had a stand stolen, but that was my own fault. I was hunting the Charleston State Forest and took my rope and 2x4 wedges down. It had gotten dark, so I thought it would be ok for the lousy few hours untill I was back in it. Nope, it was gone at 5AM the next morning. This one I blame on myself. I was stupid to have left it there. In '93, I had another stand "LOST" in Summit on private land. It was the last time I ever left my stand in a tree. I hate a thief! But what I hate more is anyone who would purposely cut or damage things to cause someone else to get hurt, or worse, die. Sorry this $jit happed dude. I hope you find the pesron/s and give them a proper "Well HOW DO YOU DO".
  8. LOL! ____________________________________________________________ Happens to everyone if you hunt. Even on private land sometimes. "Lost" a tree stand this way once.
  9. Never tried it. When I used to hunt with my x-wife, I would take her out certain times ( ehem ) and have her pee around the spots I planned to put my stand. That didn't work out so well.
  10. That's all ya got? The Jills? LOL! Been a Bills fan for 30+ years, heard'em all. Doesn't bother me anymore. I probable crack on them as much as anyone. I only talk smack when Giant or Jet fans give me crap, at least the Bills play where the name is.
  11. Wow. I still use old fashined insulated long jon pants or lightweight sweat pants, and lightweight moisture which shirt I also use snowboarding. I need to get updated I guess.
  12. Well, yesterday was about the worse day I have had in a couple years...... Went out to the yard to get some shooting in, felt pretty good about things, been shooting for a few weeks ( I know, noty long, but didn't have my bow till two weeks ago ), nice groups for the age of my bow and me being out of shape for bow. Still getting nice 3 and 4 inch groups at 25 & 35. Planned on heading out tomorror morning to hunt. Shot two arrows, the third I heard a odd sound, and my arrow went way left and into the plywood I have behind the target. I won't repeat what I said to myself. My arrow rest had broken. Again, I cannot say what I murmered. Took it off, returned it and went with a WB. Got home, put it on, and everything was off. I wasn't able to get the top end WB, so I can't adjust for up/down, only right/left. "OK, I guess I can hand;e this.". So back to the shop, get a bow qsuare, add a new knock and thought I was somewhat back in business. NOPE! Now, I cant group $pit, and something feels wrong. Really wrong. So, I take a break to thing things over. I never used to use a release, I was actually better with my fingers. So, I decided to shoot a few with my fingers. Low and behold, I shoot 4 arrows, 3" group at 25 yds, Just a bit low. Adjusted the sight a bit, and shot two more, band, just about dead center of the target. 2 inches apart. At this poing I am done for the day, irritated, and just wanted to watch the Bills loose again. Came in the house, grabbed a beer, the g/f looks out the window and says "There you go! I knoew you get it all set.". I gulped half the beer, and said "Yep, just like before though, 20 years hasn't made me like a release. Ain't using that damn thing!". Just shot a few more with fingers this afternoon, and same result out to 35 yds. Just about a 1/2 inch high and right in the center. I guess I should be OK that I made a realization. I remember so much it has flooded my head. Trying to sort it all out again is rough. I will never take a year off from hunting again, much less frikin' almost 20.

    Ouchy

Sorry to hear dude. Hope you heal fast.
  14. I know I am a bit late here, but Max V. Shauls is a great place. It's a bit past the true Catskills, but the Schoharie Creek runs right past it in walking distance. They have showers, and a couple playgrounds for little ones as well. Gilboa Run Off and Browns Lake have some great fishing as well.
  15. Northampton is probably the nicest. State run, can get a little loud certain times of the year, but nothing major. Just make sure you don't have to buy anything from the little general store...Last time I was there, bout, '05, cost be thirty bucks for flashlight batteries. There's a super market about two miles away. Great fishing in certain spots as well.
  16. When we used to process the meat ourselves, we used crushed red pepper and black pepper for spices, and that was it. Just grind it up, mit the spices in, make the patty and go.
  17. Slice, pan fry same as everone else. Garlic, onion, pepper, and just a pinch of peperika for a smokey flavor. Or, over a fire.
  18. I always try to get out and pick some. Usually made a morning of it and pack a lunch. Haven't gotten out the past couple years though. I put them in salads, home made salsa, and of cource all sorts of soups and stews.
  19. Thanks for the kind welcomes. I was off on how long I was out, the little lady reminded me last night I am 43, not 33, so it was close to 20 years.
  20. Is this thread just for folks with an I-Phone or a phone with instant aceess to the web? Or can we just give a play by on what happened on the hunt? Sorry, new here, and I do not have a web connection to my cell phone. If it wasn't for a few health issues I have I wouldn't even take my phone into the woods with me.
  21. I know............But......................I do try.......I may fail, it just makes me try harder......
  22. I was thinking, send it to "Mountain Monsters". They might put you on TV and tell everyone it's the NY Killer Fang Beast. But, I really was trying to be nice.......
  23. I would watch. What direction does he head when he walks/runs off? What time of day is the buck being seen? I would use this information. Then I would set up a spot closer if possible. It's a risk, but with a situation like this, It may be worth the end result.
  24. Def not a fox or coyote. Snout's off for that, and the hair looks to short as well. Feril, maybe a coy-dog?
