  1. It will be cool enough tonight. No problem. Give it plenty of time to bed and die. That's where you'll find it. Best of luck with recovery!
  2. If you heard an impact sound. That deer was hit somewhere. Sometimes with an arrow, the cut hair flies out in a very fine poof, and can be next to impossible to see. As it's short single cut hairs that scattered while falling. Definitely worth giving it another look!
  3. Hitting one and not finding it, hurts much worse than a clean miss. We all had to learn from our mistakes. He sounds like a very conscientious young man. And is enjoying hunting with his dad. What's not to like about that! It's only a few days into a long season. I have no doubt, that he will have redemption before it's over!
  4. Sat the upper part of the farm this afternoon. Not as much action as this morning at the lake. But did see four flat heads. Overall, my first hunt of the season was great! Congratulations to all who got a deer today!
  5. Had a morning to remember. 25 to 30 different deer. Was tempted by a decent 8 pt, but passed. Had a giant 10 with trash at 35, but no shot. And bunches of flat heads outside the ground blind. Guess where my grandson will be next weekend? Best sit I've had in many years. Also had three huge gobblers at five yards to start the show after first light. Decided to let them all walk on the first morning. Will leave this spot clean for my grandson.
  6. Perfect morning! Blood will flow today! Looking forward to the pic's later! Have deer in the back yard as I'm loading up the truck.
  7. Congratulations!!! Love stories like this. My wife is the best hunting partner I've ever had. And she's never hunted a day in her life. But she has supported every day that I have over the last 40 years.
  8. Coffee, a biscuit, and then head up the hill. First hunt of the year! Best of luck to all hunting today! A hearty congratulations to Culvercreek on his first recurve buck yesterday!!! Way to go Bob! You earned that one my friend!!
  9. Babies........lip smacking good. Is it any surprise that lunatics like this mingle at AOC gatherings? Or that AOC doesn't have the woman escorted out, and she seems to almost appease the whack job!
  10. LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!! LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!! LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!!
  11. Ahhh....the old I zig, the deer zag game! I play it too! And much too often! Best of luck wherever ya go Biz!
  12. We have a huge solid oak dining table, that gets used by kids and grandkids every Sunday. And by Mrs. grampy and I throughout the week. No Phones Allowed At The Table!!! Son and daughter in law already lay claim to it, when we are no longer here to use it.
  13. That 4 x 2 will be waiting for you this afternoon. There......decision made!
  14. Hmmm..... sometimes, good things happen to those who wait............
  15. ALWAYS....figure November 10th as the "magic day". The five days on either side of the 10th are almost as good. Count on those same dates every year. No matter the moon phase or weather.
  16. Way to go Mike!!!! Congratulations my friend! Beautiful buck!! Way to break the ice! Capital Region guys on the board!
  17. I got the pic's. Let me ask around a little this weekend. Where are you located?
  18. Yup, the one in East Berne. Be happy to have ya join us if ya can! I got stuff to do at the farm, so will head out of the woods at 10:30 or so. Then go back in hopefully about 2 and sit till dark. So I should be there about 11am or so, for a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat.
  19. Happy Birthday Kid! Ya grew up here and we miss ya! Enjoy your special day sir!
  20. Since bermjohn is very busy enjoying his life at this time. And cudo's to him! Could our current mods, and perhaps one or two new ones, be given more authority from our esteemed site owner? To approve new members, run the store, and other needed duties? Would really like to see this site continue for many more years to come. I've met some of the best people I know from this place! Made friends I'll have for life. I visit every day. And except for a guitar site, it's pretty much the only one I frequent. If there is anything I can do to help, I'll be happy to do so.
