  1. You are absolutely right Matt! Lots of buttheads in our area, that's for sure! Especially the ones who cruise the roads at night, and brag about the big bucks they shoot! Too many of them!!! Not sure how they continue to get away with it, when everybody knows what they do??? We gotta get together soon to compare notes! You going to the club meeting tonight? I do know a great lawyer! Lives out in Webster. Be a good reason to get him to come hunt with us! But we got nothing compared to what he's used to!!!
  2. It's happened to me. As it likely will to most hunters if you hunt enough. Even with taking a good shot within comfortable and practiced range, things happen. Sure it hurts. Especially to any ethical hunter. But you have done all you could do to fine that deer. That is all that you could ask of yourself. Put it behind you, learn something from it and move on. What bullet were you using that didn't fire? Or is it a malfunction of the rifle? Would for sure get that straitened out before the next hunt though.
  3. Yup...I can see it now, right at the base of that knob, going towards the trail!! It's just below where I had that 120" eight point coming in! When I was there last year, on the last weekend in October, the rut sign was exploding! And bucks were seen all over that property! You got this buddy, get it done!!!
  4. Not sure I'd have posted his pick if he was on our land.... What an absolute stud!!! But you guy's are having a dream season out there!! This weekend should be perfect! Hope the next picture we see of this deer, is with you in it too! Best of luck Brad! You definitely have what it takes to pull it off! Best of luck my friend.
  5. WooHoo! Bring it on! Activity will be picking up this weekend regardless of weather, but a little snow would be great!!!
  6. Wildcat, are you up near Malone? Years ago I hunted with my uncle up there, and he shot a HUGE doe! Never put her on the scale, but that was by far the biggest doe I've ever seen. As I remember, we had to drag her four or five hundred yards. I was quite a bit younger then, but still recall that drag!
  7. Wishing you all the best for your Birthday!!!
  8. What a great buck! Please pass along to David my congratulations and a big high five! You guys are on fire out there! Keep it going!
  9. Not feeling too good today. Heading up to the farm now to sit till dark. Got a "HUGE" bear on cam, regularly, where I'm going. Never shot one before. Not sure if I will? But hope he doesn't temp me with a chip shot. If I do, the scull and claws will go to wooly! Backstraps in my freezer!
  10. Very cool! That will be a great buck! Best of luck to you up there John.
  11. If I don't win, stop by my house at 3:30 am for bacon, eggs and homefries. With strong black coffee.
  12. Got my numbers today! If I win, I'll pay to have breakfast delivered to all the members here on opening morning of gun season!
  13. We picked up four Ameristep Vanish, hub blinds this year, and put them out in September. Have them all set up close to different bedding areas on the farm property. Makes it easier to hunt with my grandson. He almost got a shot from one during the youth weekend. Also nice to have on those drizzly days, to stay dry and comfortable. And using them, saves our prime spots for the rut, and later in the season. But I have a couple questions for those that have hunted from them for awhile. #1 Since the inside is black, do you wear black clothing, like hat, jacket, gloves and face mask? Or just regular camo? Does it make a difference, as long as you keep movement to a minimum and the wind is right? #2 What about the "Black Hole" effect when looking at the blind from the outside? It must look as unnatural to deer, as it does to me? Just looks like well..... black holes, in the surrounding brush, where the blinds are set up. Haven't had any close deer from any of these blinds yet, even though there is plenty of deer using these bedding areas. Could the black hole effect be keeping them from coming within bow range? I don't think it will make as big a difference during rifle season as the range is expanded. But just don't seem to be getting anything at all within bow range. They are all set with cover behind them and brushed in. Also there are no trail cams near them, so we are not disturbing the area, except just to hunt. And only when the wind is right for that blind. Sorry for the drawn out post. All tips will be considered. Thanks.
  14. IDK........now you're pushing it! grin....... You are on a roll though. Stop and play Mega today. Cause hey,.....ya never know!
  15. Congrats to the Red Sox and Tommy Biz! Only fitting that they play for the championship with the way they have played this year. It's all going your way now buddy! Sox will win the world series. You will shoot that big buck this season. And the Mrs, will start carrying little Biz this winter!
  16. Wishing each of you a very Happy Birthday!! All the best to ya's!
  17. So far, that buck hasn't lost his head over a little piece of tail.......
  18. You'll just know when the putt lines up perfectly, and drop it in the cup! You got this buddy.
  19. My drive to work this morning was a little slower, as I scanned the woods edges and cut cornfields looking for deer. I really wanted to be out there!!! Just felt right for hunting. But just too busy at work right now to do so. Living through you guys who are out there. Good luck fella's! Big party at the Goat, after TF connects!
  20. I've moved stands and have had deer come in many times. Move it and good luck!
  21. Welcome! Glad you decided to join us! Good luck this season!
  22. That was a HR! BS call! Sux got one given to them.
  23. Outside of hunting a preserve, you will need a hunting license, anywhere you hunt. In order to obtain a hunting license, you will need to complete a hunter safty course. This is the first step to becoming a hunter.
