  1. Furnace service guy is wrapping up. Will be in a spot by 1:30 and sit to last light. Got deer! Saw my #1 yesterday trailing a doe, but way out of my bow range. Just need a little luck to make the harvest thread!
  2. 2019......Let's Go Yankees! Time to topple the Boson Empire!
  3. Hands down, Partridge Run in 4-H. Nowhere near as many hunters as years past. Plenty of room to spread out too. There are some hidden spots in there, that are very good for various game.
  4. There really is no difference that I can tell. Put them on your crossbow, sight it in, and kill a deer! You do your part, those heads will do theirs.
  5. In the 50+ years I've been stomping around the farm property, I've NEVER seen it this wet, this late in the season. My hunting partner who's lived on the farm his entire life, said the same thing. Many of the tractor roads are under water in the dips. Woods roads are so muddy they are almost impassable, for even 4WD, ATV's!!! Almost got stuck yesterday as the thick mud just bottomed out the frame! Normally dry hay fields, have pockets of standing water. The oaks and maples on south facing slopes, are still holding leaves. Buckthorn and underbrush bordering the swamps are still full with leaves too. And the swamps are all filled with water. All this does make hunting the rut different, if not more difficult. As some movement patterns have been altered. For us and the deer!
  6. Congats to the Red Sox. They deserved to win this year. Biz has bragging rights till next year!
  7. Congratulations zeek! Way to go! Congratulations to all that were successful today! You guys rock!
  8. Congratulations Tom! Awesome buck! Luna looks almost as happy as you! Great stuff!
  9. Hunting partner text me an hour ago, said he saw a big buck trailing a doe, three hundred yards from where I'm set up. Said they were heading my direction. So far, nuttin. Gonna stay till the end of legal light. I know this is a proven, great rut spot! Thick nasties, bordering a doe bedding area. Wind is perfect and steady. Fingers crossed. I'm in the right spot. Just need a little luck today!
  10. Weather wasn't the greatest. But you had a great day with Dad, and a dang good dog. Way to go fellas.
  11. If it's cold enough, I'll let them hang four or five days. Anything above 50 degrees gets cut up asap.
  12. I really hope the Yankees don't make a 300 plus million offer to Machado. IMO....he's not even worth half that.
  13. Attention shoppers. We have a blue light special at the meat counter.
  14. No, just down the road from Pop's campground.
  15. Had a spot in Providence, off Centerline rd up that way to hunt. Took a nice 8pt there about 12 years ago. Nice area. Sure hope you can get her out at some point this season. Good luck!
  16. Tomorrow 10% chance of rain, 45 degrees, wind...SW at 7mph. Not that I've been following the forecast or anything......grin.
  17. He's been a bad influence on me........grin. But he is the master, I'm just the grasshopper.
  18. Property taxes, tractor parts, and implements, fuel, seed, 4 new hub blinds, 5 trail cams, crossbow broad heads, two boxes Federal Nosler BTs, tons of reloading stuff, a pair of lightweight bowhunting gloves, Under Armor pants, Eddie Bower camo mid weight shirt.....And I'm sure I forgot something. Thousands....... $$ But worth every penny. Even if I don't kill a deer.
  19. I ain't eating no stinkin dog meat. If I had to, I would. But I don't have to.
  20. Tomorrow doesn't look too bad? 10% chance for rain, lighter winds out of the SW. I'm heading out. Hope she gets to go soon!
  21. Now I remember what that looks like!
  22. While doing chores walking around the farm in jeans and a sweatshirt, deer usually give me a casual glance, and go about thier business. When I wear camo and I'm walking in the same area, they usually don't hang around long? Seen this too many times to be a coincidence. When I first started hunting, I wore whatever I was working in at the time. Had no camo. I do wear a mismatched array of camo now when I hunt though. Just to keep all my hunting clothes separate from work clothes.
  23. One of the best bear carvings so far Matt! Beautiful! No doubt the buyer will be very pleased. Your artistry never ceases to amaze me.
  24. Anytime one hunts public land, they must expect and accept the fact, they are likely to encounter another hunter. This is true of the hunter sitting, or still hunting. The ethical hunter will always go out of their way to treat the other hunter, like he would like to be treated. The still hunter should change course and give the sitting hunter a wide berth. The sitting hunter will hopefully see the moving hunter move out around him. And hope a deer gets pushed to him. Both hunters then continue their hunt, with the least amount of disturbance from the other.
