  1. ^^^This^^^ I can not remember a wetter season either. Will actually need hip boots to reach some spots this weekend!
  2. An old hunting companion who has passed on, used to have one of those. I always admired that bow!
  3. Bobcat?.........had one come by last Monday during a sit. Gave it a pass this time, as there were deer nearby.
  4. Are there bonus points for getting a selfie, BEFORE killing the deer?? .........grin Not sure I'll be entering this contest though. As my freezer is empty, I'm switching to crossbow this weekend, and anything within selfie range will be shot, before said selfie!!!!
  5. No not bullied at all, sticks up for other kids. He's a gentle giant. Except on the football or baseball field.
  6. He's 14, won't be 15 till April, 29th. 6'4" about 200. Big kid for his age.
  7. You thinking what I'm thinking Matt? We need to set up on each side of the road there! Why haven't we thought of this before! Heck, it's a slam dunk in that spot! grin.......
  8. You are so right my friend! I know she has boxes of shoes, that have never been worn once! I'm going to TS tomorrow darn it!!! And will wear these boots at least once this season! Would love to pick up a pair for my grandson. But I'm certain, they won't have any in size 15.
  9. Weather, as in lots of rain, has cut down on my stand time this year. Something does just seem "funny" or "off" this year as far as deer sightings go so far? That will change over the next couple weeks! Prime time is upon us! Last year, because of bad shoulders, I wanted to shoot just one more deer with my bow. I did that. This year, there were times, even if a shot were presented, I'm not sure if I could have drawn my bow? I'll be happy to go out with the crossbow this weekend. I've yet to kill a buck with it, so game on!

    How many

We're a little too far out. We get none here.
  11. Lots of deer been hit there over the years! Including a couple BIG bucks that I know about. Too bad. Hope no one got hurt.

    Lurker

Welcome! Sounds like you have much to share with us! Pull up a seat and join right in! Best of luck out there!
  13. Changed my Friday vacation day, to a Tuesday vacation day! Because of the monsoon coming for Friday. Will have this 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th to hunt! Then the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th off too. Following that, the opening week of firearms off. Hoping some serious chase action kicks in! Putting the bow away for this year. Trying for my first crossbow buck! At my age, I don't get to try for many 'FIRSTS' anymore...........grin
  14. With the wet and muddy conditions this year, I've worn my Muck Woodysport boots, for every hunt so far this season. Just add another pair of wool socks, and my feet haven't been cold once. That is saying something! As my feet are the first thing to get cold on me. Warm and dry, love those boots! At some point I'll switch over to the packs though. But for now, these Mucks have been doing ok.
  15. I know a couple guys who hunt that area. Both usually get a nice 8 or better out of there. Patience, Persistence, and Bottles of Sawyers is what it takes to be successful in there!
  16. The King! I love it!................................. That Mrs. Biz, as WW??
  17. That is a great deal!!! But if I come home with ANOTHER pair of hunting boots (gotta have over ten pair) my wife will throw me out!!! Got boots spread all over the house, from the garage to the basement!!! Hey!!! A guy just can't have too many hunting boots! Got a tractor supply on the way home.........hmmmm.
  18. Drove right by ya yesterday!!! You working the bridge again today? Taking the kids into Altamont tonight??
  19. I think my shoulders AND back, would hurt much WORSE, trying to skin and butcher from floor level !! Getting an inexpensive electric hoist like suggested above, will be so much easier on ya. Or call a buddy to help you get it hung up? Good luck crossbow hunting!
  20. Nice!!!! I hope you do more than see em! Good luck man!
  21. You got this Mike! You really know your way around in the woods. I expect any time now, you'll be adding to the harvest thread! Good luck out there my friend.
  22. Saw nine deer this afternoon. Seven flat heads, and two small bucks. All were just feeding. No sighting of the big buck I saw trailing a doe yesterday. Off work on Friday. Hope to see more rut activity then. I'm pretty sure, where I was tonight, will be my opening day of firearms spot! My hunting partner built it for me back in September. Very large and thick swamp below, and a huge buckthorn bedding area on the other side. Got mowed trails and food plots in between. We were up there together and I pointed out a spot and said, right there would be the perfect spot for a stand! Next time I went up there, it was up! I have the best hunting partner! We rode the same school bus together! Have been best friends since 12 years old. Between us we've killed hundreds of deer. After every one, there was always a handshake and a bro hug. Our wives say we'd be lost without each other. They're right.
  23. I'm up above where I was yesterday. Last I saw of the buck and doe they were headed up here Lots of bedding close by. Wind is blowing pretty good as usual, but in my face. Jumped a big doe and two fawns, laying along the edge, on my walk in. Fells like deer thirty! I'm even off the ground!!
