  1. I was sitting along side a very thick overgrown area. And heard sticks breaking, something running, don't know how they could in there, but they were. And what sounded exactly like a large dog growling. This went on and on, until finally I could just make out a doe being followed by a buck. It was the buck making the growling noise. I thought for sure it was a bear or something, before seeing the deer! Just picture the cujo movie or a big rottweiler just growling and snarling, low pitched and rumbling, and that is exactly what it sounded like. I've never, before, or since, heard a deer make that noise. Weird.
  2. Over the years I've seen some monsters around and in the old depot. Now called the industrial park. Seen some nice ones between Altamont and Voorheesville over the years too. But like I said, they all must hate to climb hills, up to where I am.
  3. Uh huh. Shoulda known. Deer like that won't climb hills. lol
  4. I think the Mega is still close to 400 mil. Yeah, I've been in the work pool for years and haven't seen a dollar back. But if I were to drop out they'd all be millionaires within a month, and I'd be very lonely at work.
  5. No need to return the favor. Just hanging out with ya would be all the return needed.

Yeah looks like flys to me too. Cows have been covered in them this year too.
  7. Hope he does too! Beautiful buck! Good luck Bill!
  8. Had I won, you definitely would have been joining us in Africa! But my humble little property here, will always be open to you for hunting too my friend!
  9. Loser! So it's back to work in the morning. But Dinsdale is welcome, any time, to hunt my humble small property in 4-H. No it's not the plains of Africa, but we would still have a blast, I'm sure!
  10. This used to work on the drum brakes, sometimes. Not sure it works on disc brakes though.
  11. That is so cool! Endless supply of specimens too! A true artist sees beauty in everything.
  12. For what you would pay to rent, you could make payments on a good used machine. And eventually own it. The money spent would not be "gone". And you would have year round use of the machine for whenever and whatever you want. JMO.
  13. For me, over the last 15+ years, I've had no deer not recovered. But I've learned my lessons well from a couple deer not recovered early on in my hunting career. And from others mistakes, by blood tracking for Deer Search. I only take high percentage shots, and let a "lot" of deer walk, if I'm not "almost" 100 percent sure of making the shot count. My faith, does not come into play, when lining up a shot. Only my past experiences. And still, there is no guarantee, it will never happen to me again. But by limiting myself to only "high percentage" shots, within my own capabilities, I put the burden on myself, not my faith. That is only fair to the animals I respectfully hunt. And when the hunt is over, and I'm kneeling over my deer. It is then, that I give my thanks to the animal and to Him.
  14. With the new cap, you should be good to go sling wise. The factory stock will give it a more traditional look and feel, good for quick handling and shooting, for a swamp/brush gun. Are those range results, from the 180gr or the 165's? Either way, it'll get the job done! Keep us posted on the finished results. Nice rifle!
  15. When you do hit, miss, and not recover a deer, this year, the next, or in the future. Will you post it here? Will He, be looking the other way, or perhaps nodding off, when that happens? Because it can and does happen to most every hunter, no matter how religious they may or may not be. I'm not questioning your faith here. Just stating the law of averages that applies to all hunters, if you spend enough time hunting.
  16. Nice job Larry! Anything we can do to help support the Bill? Hell, if it passes, maybe I'll find out what I'm missing, and hunt some doves with my grandson!
  17. One sweet looking set up Tacks! No doubt it'll shoot as good as it looks!
  18. OK......got my Mega and Powerball tickets in hand. All I gotta do is match six little numbers, and we're off! There are at least a half dozen guys from here that would be going with us! Wouldn't that be epic? Ah...... a dollar and a dream.........smile.
  19. Got a couple things keeping me close to home for the next few weeks. But mid 18? Hmmmmmm..... now ya got me thinkin! Would my 270 be enough gun?
  20. I miss the SOS in the mess hall, for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Mmmm ummm good!
  21. Go to Africa to hunt with Dinsdale! All on me of course. ........smile.
  22. Cool looking for sure! Everything I've read about this rifle has been really good. A real long distance tack driver, able to hold its own against rifles many times it's cost. Is the glass included with this one? If so, tell us more about it. This could be a sweet long range song dog gun!
  23. I don't know what they are. I do know that unless you are 100% sure, leave em alone. Thats why I pick mine at the market.
  24. Feels ok. Still some pain while drawing. Ice pack on right after shooting. Last time shooting, shot 9 and over did it. Couldn't draw my bow after that until yesterday. My PT said, all my hard work is really helping! I'm doing very well for my age and the surgery I had, along with some other stuff. "But don't over do it, shoot with your head, not your heart". He's been really awesome to work with! And it's so true, make the first one count. Every time! Good thing, cause that may be all I have!......lol Just want to thank you again my friend, and to many others here too. For all the encouragement and pep talks, right from day one after surgery. You have no idea how much it helped and motivated me. You guys are awesome!
