  1. Having a euro mount done for the first time on the buck I killed last week. I'm getting a weathered plank from the old homestead on the property and some old "bob" wire from the area where he was killed. We now have a bigger home but I have a smaller trophy room. So this will fit nicely. Again, congrats on your beautiful buck!
  2. Enjoy the company and good times! Best of luck to you guy's!
  3. Welcome! Glad you dropped bye. Just pull up a seat and join right in anytime.
  4. Use what you love! You only have to please yourself.
  5. Trophy of a lifetime. And the hunter seems humble enough. Hope that doesn't change.
  6. Is it possible to order ammo online now in NYS?
  7. Yup, just get in there and hunt! Good luck!
  8. I too was trying to pick a load this year, that shot and performs well on deer. I settled for the Nosler BT for my 7mm-08. It's very accurate and the dead right there results, I got on my buck this year were impressive.
  9. Glad she is ok. Jeep can be fixed, and you need to get out there and get one the manly way!...lol
  10. Crazy rack for sure! Must have been injured in some way to have that happen.

    Ozonics

There is nothing you can buy that will keep a deer from smelling you, if they are downwind. So you keep the wind in your face as much as possible and set up so the deer won't like to be behind you ie, an open area. ravine, water, rocky drop off or some type of obstruction. Set up downwind of where they are "likely" to travel, to give yourself the best odds. But no setup is foolproof. And that's why it's called hunting! Getting busted by deer is part of hunting! No matter how careful you are or what you buy, you won't beat a deer's number one defense, their nose. This is where experience and woodsmanship helps boost your odds in the deer woods.
  12. Nice pic, you don't catch action like that too often on a trail cam.
  13. Got a nice one there! Congratulations!
  14. Hope your day is filled with family, friends, good food and good times!
  15. Thanks for posting this! I am doing a euro mount of the buck I killed last week. And this looks really cool!

You just can't replace woodsmanship with gadgets. But hey, it's your $ do as you like.
  17. Not too often that I get up in the trees anymore, either. So glad you had an enjoyable ,last hunt of the year. Some of my best and most memorable hunts, didn't involve killing a deer! By the way, I think the hat and beard look pretty cool! Happy hibernating papabear!
  18. Happy you stopped bye. Welcome, and jump right in any time! Nice to have you join us!
  19. Change it up on him! Zig when he thinks you are going to Zag! They are so much better patternig us, than we are them. Still got plenty of time to get him on the ground. Good luck!

    Second rut?

I wholeheartedly agree that some of the biggest bucks will fall to late season hunters. That being said, to up the odds of killing "A" buck. You need to hunt where they are at this time of year. On heavily hunted land, that would be the thickest, nastiest cover available. Add in a close food sourse, and you have a late season hot spot where you have a chance to see a buck during daylight hours. All deer need to eat. And feel secure. So chances are good you "may" get a late season doe in heat in the same type of area, to up your odds of killing a buck.
  21. Great buck! Congratulations! And no tracking!
