  1. In the last week I have purchased a Johnny Stewart E-Caller, a Lil' Critter motion decoy and a couple of flex tone mouth calls, that I'm learning to use. Until we get a bit of experience, we will start out on daylight hunts. Early and late in the day. Then we will start the night hunts. I'll look into the Cyclops Sirius light since you recommend it. Thanks! Did some trapping as a youngster, not many yote's around back then. Could be another way to teach an old dog new tricks!
  2. There are two of us that hunt this property. We average three or four each a year. All are chance encounters on over 500 acres. On my 50 acre lake property I average one or two a year. But I think calling, will be much more fun and exciting than chance encounters. And possibly kill more coyotes. We are also getting permission to hunt a few more local properties. Hunting them, beats sitting around and listening to them howl every night!
  3. That was fun! But as always, I never guess right when it comes to aging buck pic's. What the heck do I know.....lol

    Lou

Happy Birthday to Lou! Hope your day is filled with all the good stuff!
  5. They smelled bad? Not sure what that is about.Anyways, best of luck to you and your Dad for this weekends hunt! Way to hang in there!
  6. Appreciate very much all the great advice! Thanks guys!
  7. Will check it out. Thanks! Seems like just about anything fun costs more these days!
  8. Thanks. And you'll be welcome anytime. Will post pic's when we get them.
  9. He is nice now. Just think how big he will be next year! Just nine and a half months to go!
  10. We are long time hunters. Just new to calling coyotes.
  11. This is all on private land. And we want to go out in the early morning or late afternoon to get started. As we gain experience we will move to night hunting.
  12. We have lots of coyotes! So the first couple hunts will be pretty easy I think. The learning curve will start once they catch on to us. I think it will be fun to do and learn. Just got a electronic call , a motion decoy and learning a couple mouth calls. If you get to our neck of the woods, moog, you are more than welcome to come along!
  13. We are all set to start calling yote's right after Christmas. This will be our first year calling. I assume my 7mm-08 deer hunting gun will work just fine for coyotes.
  14. It only takes a little to help someone who is down. To gain a lot.
  15. My contribution, sent out today. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers this Holiday season.
  16. The 10-22 was made to be a workhorse hunting gun. I don't have any case queens. All my guns get used for what they were intended. Every scratch and ding tells a story. Wouldn't have it any other way.
  17. Hoping to have a Field and Stream store in the capital district some time next year! Never been in one, but I hear lots of positive things about them.
  18. Nothing like waiting until the last day! You procrastinator! J.K. Beautiful buck! Congratulations!!
  19. Welcome! Glad you and your wife have joined us, hunting NY. Lots of good hunters here to learn from.
  20. The first two picks looks like a one year old with the long legs and compact body. The third pic looks a lot older almost like a different deer. In that pic his chest is wide and legs look shorter. His body in that pic is filled out and I'm guessing a three year old. But since it is the same deer I'll split the difference and call it a two year old. I'm never right aging pic's of deer so what do I know!....lol

    New Guy

Welcome and glad you decided to stop by. Pretty good bunch of hunters here. Just pull up a seat and join right in anytime!
  22. Kicked up quite a few during deer season this year. Always puts my heart in my throat when they flush unexpectedly. Even had one put on a strut show back in October, bow hunting.
