Nice! Let us know what it will be for next year. Very cool that you harvested a deer with a recurve!

Great thought grow! I'll take your advice. My wife will start baking tonight and will bake each night until the 24th. Cookies, pies, cakes and assorted goodies, that she knows certain family members enjoy. All while working a full time job during the day! And then cook a huge dinner on Christmas day! Don't know why she settled for me, but I'm so happy she did!

Sure is a nice pile of deer right there!

As long as no laws are broken. However a hunter decides to use their tags, who am I to judge.

Some don't even use real deer urine at all as an ingredient.

Nothing wrong with thinking outside of the norm. If your guy does A+ work, I really think an open mouth mount could be really cool! If you have seen bucks chasing doe's, then you have seen the open mouth look that describes your mount perfectly! I have also seen pictures of lip curl buck mounts. They look cool too. I would really like to see pic's of your buck mount when done!

I too believe in giving the young un's the chance to make decisions on their own, after giving them a good foundation. My 11 year old grandson is fast becoming a good woodsman and will be a better hunter than me, one day. Great job on you giving your son a good foundation. May you two make a lifetime of memories in the woods.

Best of luck for next season Bud.

Not for lack of effort on your part that's for sure! You have hung in there when most would have given up. I'm pulling for your persistence to pay off! Way to hang in there! All you need is just a wee bit of luck to complete your season.

Whatever I happen to have handy. Sometimes a cammo jacket and jeans. Sometimes a red Carhardt jacket with hood or even a t-shirt if it's warm enough. Very seldom go full camo for squirrels.

Shot a doe at 15 yards with crossbow and 100 grain Slicktrick. She dropped within sight at 30 yards. The short blood trail was four feet wide and in spots, four feet high! Complete passthrough.

If someone farts in the middle of the night, it's most likely to be me. But, there was that time when the wife had a burrito for dinner! Thought someone was firing a Thompson machine gun! She doesn't remember....... -
Thank you!!!

Advice for calling coyotes needed!
grampy replied to grampy's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
In the last week I have purchased a Johnny Stewart E-Caller, a Lil' Critter motion decoy and a couple of flex tone mouth calls, that I'm learning to use. Until we get a bit of experience, we will start out on daylight hunts. Early and late in the day. Then we will start the night hunts. I'll look into the Cyclops Sirius light since you recommend it. Thanks! Did some trapping as a youngster, not many yote's around back then. Could be another way to teach an old dog new tricks! -
Advice for calling coyotes needed!

There are two of us that hunt this property. We average three or four each a year. All are chance encounters on over 500 acres. On my 50 acre lake property I average one or two a year. But I think calling, will be much more fun and exciting than chance encounters. And possibly kill more coyotes. We are also getting permission to hunt a few more local properties. Hunting them, beats sitting around and listening to them howl every night! -
That was fun! But as always, I never guess right when it comes to aging buck pic's. What the heck do I know.....lol
