  1. Dandy of a buck! Best of luck to you gentleman! The dream team will get it done!!
  2. If it were not for flatlanders, there would be much less entertainment this time of year!
  3. Welcome to the site. Just join right in anytime! Glad you stopped by!
  4. Myself, I am not too concerned about a little shoulder meat loss. If the deer runs into the thick swamp or to another hunter I could lose the whole deer! I want them DRT!!
  5. This is a good question for first time rifle hunters like myself. I figure right behind the shoulder like I did with my shot gun will get the job done. But it would be cool to just DROP one in his tracks or dead right there. Using a 7mm-08 with 140gr. nosler ballistic tip ammo. From all you long time rifle hunters, where do I want to hit them to have them DRT????
  6. Best of luck to you and your Dad! Good luck on the new property as well!
  7. Controlled logging to create habitat development, would be a huge help. But we won't see it happen in our lifetime. Sadly enough.
  8. Best of luck to you all! Keep safe and shoot straight!

    DIY Euro

A good friend you are. Hope you will have one of your own to do after this weekend!
  10. Just love those Adirondack bucks! Congratulations!
  11. You can get into the woods as early as you want. Just can't legally shoot until sunrise.
  12. Congratulations! Nice buck.
  13. Great story! There are so many more things that make a fun, successful hunt, besides killing a deer! I believe you already know that though. Best of luck to you for the rest of the season!
  14. Never too late to move a stand, to get to where the deer are! Just move it and hunt it ASAP! Good luck!
  15. Welcome and best of luck this hunting season!

    Wind

Welcome back to NY Belo! Happy to hear you and the family made the trip intact! Best of luck to you hunting NY, while on vacation!
  17. I don't share many pictures of the deer I kill, except with family or close hunting friends. Never felt the need to brag or boost my ego. It's just a personal thing with me. I do enjoy seeing pictures of other hunters deer though. The picture in my mind, of the deer just before the shot, can never be duplicated.

    Help

As others have said, just hang your stuff outside. I don't take scent control to extremes anymore. I do shower in scent free soap before each hunt, wash clothes in scent free washer, hang stuff outside on covered part of the deck. I do take wind in my face while hunting to my advantage as much as possible though. For sure, you do not want to smell like an old billy goat. But there is nothing you can buy or use that will prevent a downwind deer from smelling you. Wish you the best of luck fearthebeard. I too have been finance challenged or broke in my lifetime. And I can tell you money does not make the hunter or the man.
  19. Welcome! Glad to have you stop by. Look forward to you giving us a few ADK buck stories and tips! Just pull up a seat and join right in! Best of luck to you hunting the big woods!
  20. Wow!!! Nice, no, awesome bucks!!! Got any room for an old grey beard grampy?....lol
  21. The best of luck to you and your son! He will carry those memories for life!
  22. I got a pain in MY shoulder, just LOOKING at that picture! Owch!!!
