    Arrows

The only way a carbon arrow will blow up on release is if its already severely damaged. If they were dangerous 95% of hunters wouldn't be using them. Always bend check your arrows, especially if you hit something other than your target... Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  2. You could look into the Ruger Ranch rifle, modest price, nice features without spending a ton. I'd sink most of the available money into a good scope. Light gathering capabilities are paramount when predator hunting. PS...don't use a 22lr... Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  3. I've used Gold Tips for years now and doubt I'll ever need/want to switch. I shoot the velocity pro's for 3D and Velocity hunters for deer. For the price I doubt you'll find a better arrow. Its easy to fall into the hype and marketing crap but honestly it doesn't take a superarrow to kill deer. Just make sure your bow is tuned and your arrow fly's true, shoot a medium/heavy weight GPI and you'll never have a problem. I am a bit anal over shaft straightness/tolerance even though it doesn't make a big difference to the average shooter, its comforting knowing it, that's why I shoot the PRO line. 4. If you're not looking to spend $300 on a lighting system then I'd suggest you go to dealxtreme.com and search "singfire" red lights/LED's... They are a Chinese company that makes pretty impressive lights for cheap. I bought two red led lights for scanning and now these are my go to lights. I even keep one mounted to my 22mag as a kill light. The beam is adjustable from flood to spot. They run on rechargeable 18650 batteries which come with the lights as well as a battery charger for around $35/ per light. I've had them for a few years now and they outperform many expensive lights. Id say i can identify an animal at 200 yds in most situations. The only downside is it takes like a month to get them in the mail. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  5. Granted he wouldn't win citizen of the year, but that's no reason to look past the 18 yrs the guy did for lazy, tunnel visioned law enforcement, Or the fact that he may very well be innocent on the latest charges also. One can certainly see motive on behalf of the sheriffs department. I hope its not the case but let's face it... Police officers, judges etc... Are all humans and subject to the same emotions we all have and I know a few that were/are certainly no citizen of the year material either. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  6. Yea I heard something about that too. I'm going to look further into it. Obviously the documentary is one sided but the whole thing reaks of corruption if you ask me... Certainly a controversial case.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  7. Its a very good documentary. You won't regret watching it. I too watched it in 2 days, it is hard to turn off the further you get into it. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  8. The only part this has in common with a "bow" is an arrow. That does not make it a "bow"... If I put a bullet in a slingshot that doesn't make it a gun... Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  9. Lay your camera on the ground pointing up... That should let you know. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  10. I own 2 winchester SX3's and would highly recommend them. They are not finicky like a lot of autoloaders, mine even digests lowbrass target loads out of 3.5" chambers. I know a few guys who run them competitively for trap and love them also, including one guy who ran a whole trap season without cleaning the gun to see how much it would take. He never found out as it never hiccuped after thousands of RDS... I've owned a lot of semi's but these are my favorite. Look them up and I think you'll be impressed. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  11. I remember hearing a quote awhile back that went something like this, (maybe someone on here knows the true quote or who said it?)... "Don't use a bullet/caliber that works when everything goes right, use one that works when things don't." I think this has some merit. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  12. I loaded a mag with 380ACP rounds and promptly put it into my glock 17... I realized at the first shot the recoil/report was not right. Too many guns/ammo on the table at once! Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  13. Personally I'm not sure how you can bottle a "feeling" or "emotion?" Sales gimmick in my opinion but if you think it helps go for it! Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  14. Its disgusting at best. I see it occasionally with deer too. Makes me IRATE to say the least, to the point where I hope I don't see it happening personally. Humans really can be the worst kind of animal. I'd definitely make a call to the local CO. What's even worse though is even if caught they will get a slap on the wrist and a minimal if any fine. I would consider placing trail cams if possible to try to narrow down who might be the culprit. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  15. I too bought one of these. Unfortunately it went back to SIG for failure to feed in the first week. For the most part it has worked fine since but now that my confidence is shaken with it it mostly resides in the safe. I also find that the safety is difficult to operate and my hands aren't overly large. Nice little gun other than that though. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  16. The main reason I use these is because it is somewhat urban and don't want to draw unwanted attention. It also helps to keep other squirrels at ease nearby. I don't shoot over 30 yds typically so velocity isn't a big concern. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  17. Perhaps you should reinvestigate. They are lower velocity and way quieter. How is that a marketing ploy? They work as advertised. No ploy. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  18. Actually I use CCI quiets which are far from explosive, quite the opposite. To think that you aren't going to occasionally wound/lose a squirrel because you only take head shots is silly at best. Its hunting. You will occasionally lose one regardless of your methods. Behind the shoulder works great for me. If headshots only work for you then by all means use them. Just don't say lung shots on squirrels is poor shot placement, that just doesn't make sense. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  19. I'm assuming its an ADL at that price point? Remington factory scope? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  20. Since when is shooting behind the shoulder poor shot placement? I don't head shoot anything but frogs and I've never had an issue. If you hit a squirrel pretty much anywhere in the front of the body he's coming down. I always aim for behind the shoulder and I'll continue to do so. Its as easy to blow a jaw off or a nose as it is to miss one behind the shoulder, I'm not sure where you are coming from with that statement. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  21. Shields are too large for pocket carry. The Kahr CM9 may be worth looking at also. A little large for pocket carry but may be doable. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  22. I have a SIG P938(9mm), XDS45 and a Taurus TCP 380 as my usual carry guns and carry my XDS 90% of the time, even in the summer with a good holster and loose T-shirt. The other times I'll grab the SIG or TCP and put it in my pocket if I'm going really light. A good IWB holster will do wonders for concealment. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  23. I typically won't shoot past 30-40 yds and most are within 20 yds, I like stalking them and only use open sights on my rifle and pistols. It certainly isn't a round you'll use at 100 yds but up close it works great. I also like not wearing any form of hearing protection as repeated exposure even from 22lr can do a lot of damage. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  24. Yea they are pretty much the same thing. A few years ago CCI came out with the "quiets" and they are amazingly quiet. I can literally hear the bullet impact the squirrels with a hollow thud. Yea I tried running them in my pistols for squirrels but they wouldn't cycle either, I use a bolt action rifle most times so it isn't an issue. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  25. My favorite for squirrels is 22LR with CCI quiets. They are standard weight projectiles just slowed down to like 700 fps. Doesn't blow them up and quieter than most air rifles so it doesn't put all squirrels around on alert. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
