  1. Nothing yet! It's killing me! Supposed to have results by March 29th, hopefully this flu doesn't screw it up! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

    Ammo

I understand having a healthy supply of ammo and always do but... The thought that you would burn through 1,000 rds and need more is extremely unlikely to say the least. (That being said I have we'll over 1,000 rds myself but not really for an apocalypse situation, I just like to shoot and buy a few boxes here and there constantly). Having a ridiculous amount gives a lot of people a false sense of security in my opinion. Everyone turns into Tactical Timmy thinking they're Jason Bourne because they have a firearm and ammo. Again I'm not saying it's a waste or not a good idea. Having too much is better than not having enough certainly. Most people are not trained for tactical type firearm situations but suddenly think they'll naturally acquire it come doomsday. Once again I'm not calling anyone out as I fall into the same category. What are your thoughts on focusing on preparation and improving your skills/tactical shooting/ learning angles/ limitations of your capabilities or the firearms etc taking priority over stockpiling vast amounts? 3. I got skunked yesterday for 5 more hours. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  4. I agree fully. "Need" is a very relative term. There are a lot of people out there that do poach animals without need already. And as mentioned once already, I'm sure a lot of people could come up with a way to purchase or get cigarettes or alcohol but then "need" meat. So no as a generality I do not think one should poach. How many families make poor decisions financially then cry that they are poverty stricken, quite a few. If we are talking survival, which case the person or people has been going with very little or no food then the rules change, but I don't think that case is very often. Take toilet paper this week for example, how many people "Needed" that toilet paper? Probably not many, but as you see the shelves are now empty due to greed and selfishness. If everyone had taken what they needed everyone would still have access to it. Peoples opinion of NEED is shakey ground to begin with. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  5. That's a shed for sure, sometimes a large portion of pedicle stays attached. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  6. Also shot on Nov. 2nd of this year at 10:45AM. 23yd shot. My best buck. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  7. 3 hour walk this morning yielded an old 4pt deadhead and an old 3 pt side. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  8. I sent the pic to my buddy and he said it looks smaller than he thought it'd be until he saw it in person. It's a good one! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  9. Well 12.3 miles over 8 hrs today and here's the haul. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  10. Score! Found one side to the buck I've been searching for! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  11. People who don't shed hunt don't truly understand how long it takes to find them. I've got 9 full hours in this year and came up with only 2. If I didn't truly enjoy being in the woods I probably wouldn't shed hunt either! But touching a big shed for the first time is so worth it! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  12. I do a ton of kayaking/fishing in the spring and summer. I'm actually in the process of rigging mine for trolling. I've got the Big fish 105. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  13. I've got 8 hours in the woods the last 2 days, a bit slower than I was hoping for but didn't get skunked. Trail cam pic of the split brow buck from October, found the antler about 3/4 mile away. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  14. Haha true. Your lucky I'm not showing even a fraction of them, you'd be scrolling half of the night! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  15. Man, if this were next spring I'd have a new boat. How did you like the boat? Any gripes or issues? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  16. I have no issues with someone wanting to use a saddle, but there's no way hanging off the side of a tree standing on a tiny platform is more comfortable than a summit climber lounge seat. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  17. I've never tried a saddle. But I bought lightweight sticks and used them for a season to access prehung stands. I sweated more hanging sticks than I do with my climber. There was obviously a weight advantage but the simpler and faster is what I go for. To me the saddle is something that whether it's advantageous or not, people will buy what they're sold on television. They see "pro's" using them and think they're the best solution. Not bearing in mind these guys get paid to use them. I'm sure they fill a niche somewhere for someone but it's just not me. I've watched a lot of videos and the setup is far more involved than hooking a stand to a tree. Not to mention those rainy, windy, snowstorm, below freezing days. Have you ever tried working with wet, frozen ropes? In the dark? The very last thing I want to do when I've scouted a killer setup is to spend 30 minutes at the base of the tree setting up a saddle and sticks in the dark. To each their own, I follow these threads to see what real life experiences you guys have with them. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Lakeside Taxidermy is where I get mine done. I also work with the guy. Don puts out some of the best deer mounts I've seen, some look better than they did alive. He's on Instagram if anyone in the CNY area is looking for a great taxidermist. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  20. Yea I know, but they uncover it pretty good when they're on it. Im only saying it because I've put out quite a few carcasses for yotes and they can look like that for days on end. But it could very well have been yesterday too. I would've expected a few bones still around if it were real fresh. Either way, I'd be shocked if you didn't shoot something off of it tonight. Too bad Fox is closed now. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  21. My guess would be that it's probably a couple of days old but every predator in the area is now hitting it. A few critters can leave a ton of tracks when they hang around a carcass for hours. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  22. Not to derail but, do yourself a favor, grab a Piscifun Venom or flame reel. You can get them for $30-40. They are ridiculously good reels for the money. I own 4 of them now. I use one on a steelhead spinning rod and one on a salmon casting rod and both work great. They work every bit as good as $100+ reels for sure. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  23. I'd suggest to run different seasonings/marinades in each batch to find your favorites too. Rather than doing a big batch of one flavor that you may not be too keen on. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  24. I use a dry brine of kosher salt, brown sugar and shot sauce. Coat them in a glass dish and layer so they are completely covered. Let sit overnight in fridge. Take them out the next day, rinse all of the brine off in cold water, place the pieces on a drying rack for 3 hours or so. Season with whatever you like. I like apricot jelly slightly melted and coated on the fish. Pop them in the smoker. Remove, let cool. Get crackers and your favorite flavor of cream cheese, I love jalapeno, and put some cream cheese on a cracker and top with smoked fish! Pretty good! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
