No they are compound heads. I'm not sure if they make xbow spitfires as I don't crossbow hunt, but if I did I'd still use spitfires. When a head has been around 20 years without real modifications you know it works. If you want a similar head without the price, get the NAP Shockwave's. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I don't keep them generally. I might take one brown or steelhead per year for the eggs, if I do I'll put the fish in the smoker. Smoked is the only way I like trout or salmon, they're just too soft and fishy for my liking. Basically just get a quick photo and release! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'm running several Spypoint Link Micro's. Reception is key so buy whichever version works best in your area. So far I like the link Micro's, the image quality gets compressed via the app but it's plenty good enough to identify the quality of deer. It's the biggest advancement in hunting in a long time in my opinion. I attribute my buck kill this year to knowing exactly where I needed to be even while I was at work still. Battery life is good so far, I'm getting over a month on a set. The free app works well, you get 100 free pics a month after the first month which is unlimited. Buying a bigger plan is quick and easy. The camera price is the best pricepoint of any cellular camera. I'll attach a few pics that I've gotten below. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

So what's your self imposed restrictions for the SZ opner?

Coming off of just shooting my best buck a week and a half ago, I'm not going to hold out for something better because in reality I won't see one bigger than 135". Whatever feels right or fun at the time is getting it. A doe for sure, I'm actually meeting my father and brother on some state land even though I'm on a good lease this year with good bucks. My father is in his 70's now and I'll regret not joining them even if the hunting isn't the best, it could be my last opener with him, you just never know. I say if it feels right then pull the trigger. A "wall hanger" is different for everyone. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
I've got the same security six, I love that gun. Surprisingly easy to shoot well at distance! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Ruger Redhawk 44 mag goes with me. If I'm concerned about bulk or weight then it's my Ruger Security Six in 357. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I know here in 8F the farmer told us they weren't cutting it until mid December'ish. So it'll make for a bit tougher gun season but maybe it'll save a few deer for next season too. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -

That's what I said! And if you look close on his neck there are two holes. Gun? Antler gores? Hickeys? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
Technically means yes. It is illegal. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Technically yes it is. Even to finish one off. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

It looks like the inside of a hind leg though? It also has 2 strange looking spots on the neck, almost looks like it was hit by a car then shot in the neck to be put down? I could be way off but it looked strange to me! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'd go back now, just track like you're expecting the deer to still be alive, as it may be. I liver hit my buck a few days ago and have it 6 hrs and he was still alive when we found him, couldn't move but alive. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

What's going on with his back leg going the wrong direction?? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

He does look beefy, did you weigh him? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'm not going to clog up a good thread with this. If someone wants to start a new one I'll continue. But quite honestly, there's a clique on here who will agree with each other no matter what. To the guys out hunting tonight, good luck! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -

If there were any adult with the youth and could clearly see the first deer wasn't hit very well then I hope they would restrain them from shooting again, yes. But let's not forget who we're talking about, youth's. TF can pass on whatever he likes, so can everyone else. He wasn't there to know what actually happened or what was going through the kids head. If he had killed both of those deer then everyone would be congratulating him without a word being said about shooting 2 deer. I'm on my high horse? For defending a youth and his mentor that I don't even know?? I'm saying give the kid a break. He messed up, we all have. Learn from it and move forward. Let me ask you.... You shoot a doe, shot looked alright but you just aren't sure. Minutes later the biggest buck you've ever seen comes by, do you shoot? I already know the answer and so does everyone else. So where does TF logic apply here? After all it most likely was the largest buck the kid has had an opportunity at...? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and bear in mind I'm not trying to derail or personally assault anyone. I would shoot 2 deer in one sit, and I have. I find it a bit asinine for you to stand on your high horse after only starting bowhunting recently yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, you too are going to lose deer in your career and does it really matter if it was a week apart or the same sit? No. I've lost a deer before I thought was dead and I've found deer I never thought I would. It's a shame there wasn't a better outcome but it's hunting. I'd be willing to bet 90% of hunters on this site would shoot a doe then shoot a trailing buck if the opportunity presented itself, without knowing the first shot was "perfect." To keep criticizing the young hunters or their elder isn't helping anything but throwing unnecessary shame. End of rant. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
If the deer are in there right now then you need to be too. Stand burnout only really occurs if you're alerting deer to your presence on a regular basis. Access and exit it smart and only use it on good wind and hunt it as much as you need to. That's my opinion. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Not in the majority of the state, down toward NYC I believe you can in a few areas. Regular season tag becomes valid once regular season (gun) starts. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
