  1. The kids now are into drone racing with 1st person video. Looks fun as hell. I have a drone and some RC stuff but these days hunting and other hobbies kill my time. I need to retire now, while I still have half my life left (I hope). if only I didn't need to work
  2. Deer dragging! My cart definitely won't work on snow and the place I plan on hunting if we have any snow it would be a heart attack inducing affair to drag a deer through heavy snow.
  3. If I am sure it won't rain on me I will be out tomorrow morning but with weather as it's looking (rain/snow), that reminds me of opening weekend in 2016 and ain't NOBODY got time for that. So, I may wait till Sunday. Going to probably buy a deer sled at lunch today.
  4. My CVS doesn't--should I try walgreens?
  5. Here you go: http://www.fox5ny.com/news/48k-per-amazon-hq-job
  6. Don't get me started on state-run lottos.
  7. I'm extremely self-righteous about smoking and never was a smoker Price per pack should have been raised to $50 per years ago, just purge this crap from society already.
  8. I still cannot eyeball the difference between 30 and 35 yards personally, and when shooting an arrow that can easily be the difference between a dead dear and a wounded one. I simply won't hunt without a range finder unless I'm 100% positive it's within 20 yards. Anything beyond that your eyes can get screwy in a hurry. I use some cheapy I got for $90 a few years ago. What I wish it would do is work better in the dark and also I wish it had a "hold" function. Currently it only range finds when I press the button, which is hard for a small tree limb at distance because pressing the button can shake it. I wish that after pressing the button it would keep range finding over and over for a few seconds. Mine doesn't have an angle. If I'm shooting down hill with bow as I always am from stand I will either subtract a few yards or try and range horizontally to a tree away from me.
  9. Bought my CVA in 2016, didn't see any deer in late ML or any deer all of gun season in 2017, but I did use it the entire gun season and will do the same this year, but will only hunt gun a bit lazily due to not needing meat at this point. I left the 120 gr 777 load in my gun since last season and shot it today @ 100 yards. I have no idea where the bullet went. The target was shot to hell so I can't tell if I was off by 8" or 8 feet. I then cleaned it, as I do after all shots, and put another bullet in. Off by about 1.5", next shot off by 1", adjusted scope .75" and literally dead nuts bullzeye. Shot a few out to 150 and it was pretty accurate. Pretty sure last year I went a couple weeks and a few hunting trips and shot it to confirm and during the season (leave in garage between trips) it was still right on the money. I will use it because I don't have a legitimate hunting rifle (nor any particular desire for one), it's extremely accurate, it shoulders nicely, shoots well, isn't too heavy, etc. Based on a tip I got here I wrap the end of the barrel tightly in electrical tape. A balloon or the finger from a latex glove would be fine, too. Then the gun is pretty resistant to junk in the barrel.
  10. CVA Wolf with 4 * 30 gr 777 pellets for 120 total shooting 250 gr TC Shockwave/Hornady SST. Best group I've had is sub 1" @ 100 yards with 3, though if I'm honest normally I'd say it's a couple of inches. I tried the hornady hunter mushroom ones with the black sabot and they just weren't that accurate for me. I've not tried any other charges or any other than those two bullets because the 120 pellets plus shockwave are so good I've not felt the need. Have yet to even see a deer while hunting with this rig because all the deer at any place I hunt disappear the day after gun season starts.
  11. I'd probably just eat all the grapes myself!
  12. Why would a guy two miles away be interested in this?
  13. Spray some wolf piss on the pile
  14. All this daylight savings stuff is the cat's ass. We need to banish it.
  15. The ideas to bail on this closing are not bad, and have some likes. Are you sure this isn't a blessing in disguise that it happened now? If all you want is hunting land it comes on sale all the time. You can forget ever recovering deer from this guy's property.
  16. If no patent, there is no point and bringing anything to market. The chinese will steal it and sell it on ebay for a song. What a strange bow. Some guy on reddit says main benefit is let's a finger shooter have compound without the steep string angle associated with a conventional compounds short axle length, but surely there is a better way? Seems excessively complex to me.
  17. I believe a crime was committed. Am I allowed to get a bucket of mud and pour it all over somebody's car if it's sitting on the street? Is this not intimidation? Is there no cost involved to you in recovering your vehicle to prior state (e.g. car wash)? The advice about putting out trail cams next time is good. Also the one about writing some locals some letters introducing yourself, etc.
  18. Finally in now. Despite the small doe I shot and another buck around 8:20-8:30, I saw nothing else between 6:30 and then. I hunt out for two more hours and saw nothing. I did drop this off at butcher--the guy is an artist and should maximize the meat return. Another guy had dropped off 3 while I was there and said his woods were hopping. Was nice weather, though, and I am not complaining.
  19. I knew today would work. Nothing until 8:10 when this doe walks by then off. 10 min later a nice buck cruising at 100 yards but despite a doe and buck call stopping him a few times he had his eye on something else. This came by again and 30 yards and she ran 50 at the most and down within sight. Rage hypodermic from centerpoint 370. I SUCK at identifying doe size. Really thought this was a good size doe. Isn’t, but my guy can probably get 25 lbs off her anyway. Also realized I am a degenerate hunter. I told my wife next deer and my season is done. And yet I am posting this from my stand again 8-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Left 2 min early. Already feeling adrenaline, today is going to happen. In stand shortly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Off to a good start. In a year or two he'll be a shooter.
