  1. Here's my first post in this thread of an actual, real 1st shot. The only one I took today. The way I lashed the broadhead together creates a touch more air resistance so I think I can even excuse a small bit of vertical drop because of that Target is trashed so I was shooting from the side, to the side.
  2. I have read recently some people are dressing as clowns in various bits of the US and scaring people. Something on dailymail about it now I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Looks like the weather is still set to suck this weekend so we're going to be putting this thread to the test.
  4. My semi-unscientific impression about all of this is that after manufacturing basically everything off-gasses. It's why the tire aisle in walmart smells so good. But, if you take one of those brand new tires and stick it in a garage, after a while it no longer has any smell at all. So, you have to wait until something is finished off-gassing and there is no way to speed that up. Personally I got a tip from a guy I like. It's free, and makes sense: I wash my clothes in odorless detergent and then leave them outside under my porch for a while. All my clothes are old enough that they are no longer off-gassing the manufacturing smell, but they likely pick up smells from my house. Outside, those smells will eventually waft away and the material will adopt whatever odor is outdoors.
  5. If it is lightly drizzling this Saturday I think I will do this. I don't have a ground blind or really even a good spot for one, and sitting in a stand getting rained on sounds very unfun. I'd at least like to walk a bit.
  6. That looks good. I ONCE managed to balance my climber (summit viper) on the back of my actual backpack so that it was super comfortable to carry, but it was very wiggly and I couldn't replicate it. Now I put the pack in the back of the climber, hold the pack in place with the climber's bungee (used to attach top and bottom), and then I am good. I put the bow in my backpack's bow holder. It sucks and it's heavy. I could carry the bow but with that much weight I'm just beelining it to where I need to be basically and need both hands free for hills in my spot.
  7. If it's truly pouring I'll just sit on the forum and sulk probably. Not gonna sit and get wet plus have lower odds of seeing deer. I suppose that's good weather for still hunting, so maybe I would do that if it's warm enough. Last year my very first day out hunting in my life I got within 25 yards of a doe. Most of that was pure luck, though.
  8. Take down stand, leave it on the ground with a note saying that if you see this in another tree you are taking it. Hopefully he gets the hint. Also that the property is under video surveillance (doesn't matter if it is) and you are going to be prosecuting for trespassing from now on.
  9. I know you're feeling. Being ripped off even for $5 just pisses a person off in a unique way.
  10. Give him benefit of the doubt to an extent. Don't let it get anywhere near the window at which you cannot claim money. I only initiated a claim once against paypal. They found for me, but since the guy who ripped me had no money in his account they could not and would not make it good for me. I decided to show them what's what, and I went to my credit card company and disputed through them instead. Hopefully they in turn nailed paypal. This is why when I pay with paypal I do not use a paypal balance--always credit card, so that if I'm screwed I can get the money back from my credit card company and don't need to rely on the useless "goodwill" of paypal.
  11. Someone turning around in your drive or trespassing? If the latter, put up a poster board telling them they are on camera and will be prosecuted.
  12. Debated endlessly. Some prefer the reliability and penetration of the fixed, others like the cutting surface of mechanical and their slight edge on accuracy. My guess is that a lot of people keep switching over time just for the heck of it, the same way people buy new cars or clothes. At this point it's not like anybody is introducing truly meaningful advancements. Lots I'm sure is anecdotal, too: "I took down such and such buck in 20 yards with <insert broadhead>" or "I hit this thing in the heart, both lungs, and the neck with <insert broadhead name>" and I still never found it.
  13. $12.50/pack carbon express 1.5" 3-blade mechanicals from Walmart. Weights are nice and consistent and they seem to fly decently; I compare flight against field tips at 50 yards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. How low is your sense of pride that after being caught for not only baiting but then lying about it that you are still in this thread?
  15. Gee, you're not even denying the block and the edible fertilizer? It's not supposed to be this easy. I pulled another card this evening. Can't wait to stalk this guy. One week left!
  16. Looking good. I pulled this pic early this morning.
  17. Yep that is darn tight for 50.
  18. Weirdly maytom's pics are not working unless I quote, then I can see them.
  19. I have never heard of this. Just looked it up. I could see doing it. Surprised they never mentioned during bowhunter course just as a kind of "hey, also..." thing.
  20. Absolutely! You saved me some typing. I'll be doing two spots this year, one next to a farm that sees a lot of human activity, and another not far from houses. That latter one I have seen the same three deer consistently on the camera, one even bedding down about 8 yards in front of one, and I've checked cams each week. Those three deer don't care that I was in the area.
  21. lol that's what I get for going by people's avatars (similar colors), not their names. I apologize for pressing somebody on something they never said, my bad
  22. Because I don't think you're paying attention to the numbers. Case in point, you made a wild claim that I asked you to back up and you so far have not--because you can't; because it's not true. Are you going to tell us exactly which year there was this 80% reduction in murders because of stop and frisk? Those were your words.
