I am becoming less excited about opening day as I get older. Usually the fishing isn't great for fly tackle early on,I usually wait until the water warms up a little more and the fish get more active. Trout camp does look like fun though.

I was kidding,I knew especially after last year's success that you won't be giving up on scouting hard. Good luck with this year's target and avoid those bears!
-
Wow,glad.you are ok. I don't care to see a bear in the woods and can't even imagine what it would be like to be that close. You had better stop that scouting business @Swamp_bucks.

black locust,we are lucky to have a bunch on our property. I have used them for fence posts,a seriously raised garden bed and a few other projects around here. I set over 250 fence posts over the years in drilled holes. We have some sheep and they are hard to fence in,much harder than horses...

I just finished my first boil two days ago,it has been a slow start here. I got some walls for the shack up,i hope to be able to work on the roof soon.

How much will the price of fuel affect your hunting now?

I already have a hard time making myself drive 10 minutes to go hunt. I am lucky to live in an area either many options. I do want to explore more state land but don't find myself venturing too far. -

Your reading comprehension is not very accurate. I didn't see ncountry imply that you fellas did it first or longer. You just made that up. It looks to me like he just pointed out a double standard. -
Where are you planning on going? All I have done is watch some videos from different events. Sounds like fun if you don't mind loosing some arrows. I dont practice past 60 yds much and certainly don't practice guessing the distance at that range either. Or is it known distance? Either way,I shoot fairly heavy arrows and that would be a big disadvantage in the tac. I don't want to shoot a lighter arrow just for a competition,I want to practice with my hunting set up.

I have never bought a new vehicle and don't plan on doing so in the future. I am generally at least 10 years behind the current manufacturing year,so maybe I would get one in 2031. I am not opposed to the idea, but am opposed to the price tag. As if vehicles are not expensive enough already. I hate spending money on them.

I also am a meat hunter first and things won't change much for my approach. Two deer are plenty to get me through the year and that is all the meat I eat. If I get one more that really is for sharing with friends.

Lots of stuff can handle the cold. carrots, greens beets and some others can be planted once the soil gets to the upper 40's.

There is a ton of public land in Chenango County as well. I am one county to the east and imagine it is pretty similar as far as hunting pressure goes. Non existent in bow season and crazy for opening weekend of gun, then it tapers off a lot. It is a rural county with rural values. Swampbucks is the man to talk to.

Smooth running? you are delusional buddy boy.

Happy Birthday Mr. K. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Top of the head, and they were judo points but both blew right through the squirrels. I never used them before and thought they would bounce off. My arrows may be a little too heavy, high foc kills!

I am liking my new bow, first two shots in a few weeks, 18 yds.

It depends on the snow cover and location. Edge of a field or lawn starts earlier than in the woods. If you have more trees than you want to tap just got for it. I see you did already, nice.

Trespassing and Camera Stealing Stories and Solutions

No,the sheep died of old age and digging a hole is hard. So I used an existing hole. I do like the way you think though... Have you ever heard of biodynamic preparations? Some of those are crazy,I got introduced a long time ago on a farm in Oregon. I wasn't sure what kind of a place I ended up at,haha. -

You are correct. I buried a dead sheep under an uprooted tree, dug a hole in the hole the root ball left and after that I cut the top of the tree and the root ball laid back over the grave. It was about 3 ' deep and a few weeks later I walked past it to go hunting and the yokes a had dug it up. Through and around the roots even. So 4' plus are recommended.
