I see it as if I were in my house protecting my family. I don't think for a second any teacher would be willing to engage in a gunfight with an active shooter. They haven't had that kind of training but to sit and wait (similar to how many of us hunt) while being armed isn't a bad thing. Definitely not the ideal situation but at least it isn't like shooting fish in a barrel. Not to mention you get into the head of the shooter knowing there very well could be people there to stop him before he starts. We all don't have to worry about this in NY they are already trying to pass a bill that keeps teachers from becoming armed. Didn't realize there was one coming from the ocean side. I'm about 1400ft. elevation at my house on the southern tier and seem to get more than the areas around me.

Everything I have seen is calling for 1-3 on Thursday and that is for across the state.

I broke my winch 1/2 way through our driveway so now I'm waiting on a new one to show up to the house. A lot of guys take the cable off and wrap a tow strap into the winch for plowing. They say it lasts a long time and doesn't mess up their cables. I have a polaris sportsman with a 50" plow, it does fine pushing up to 12" of this heavy snow. I got 10" and other than the winch breaking it was doing fine.

We didn't loose power but those around us did for a while. I lost a lot of limbs from the pines but no trees. I did take the opportunity to drop a few trees that needed a little weight on them to get them to fall where I wanted.

Children MUST get an education not go to school. You can also choose where they go to school. I don't think I have seen anything about a school shooting at a charter school. I understand what you meant but there are other choices if you are really that worried about it. In all honesty your argument for not arming teachers isn't very strong. When was the last time you heard in the news about a teacher that flew off the handle and clocked some kid or fellow employee? I don't see where having a level headed teacher with a gun would be an issue. I also don't think the teachers should be expected to go after the perp. Sit and wait would be ideal anyway knowing you as the teacher have the upper hand and element of surprise.

My son and I made his first snowman. Snow wasn't packing very well yesterday but we managed. He loved it and kept yelling at the dogs for biting parts of the snowman off. He was too funny. He also managed to help me clear some brush around some wild apple trees, pruned them a little, and drop some trees in our purposed food plot. Not bad for just 2.5 hours outside.

Yes our infrastructure is dated but works (for now). I am looking into converting my gas generator into a tri-fuel setup so I can run natural gas, propane, or gasoline. I would be able to run it for weeks with the ability to change fuels. Personally if I had a fireplace in my house I would be keeping a cord of wood just for backup heat. My current house I heat with wood so I wouldn't have an issue but in NY you need to have a backup plan we get such an array of weather one can never be sure of what will happen. I will add with tri fuel you can run propane or natural gas and no carb issues from old gas.

I was just hoping it was going to melt and no more. My winch crapped out after getting half our driveway plowed, looks like I have to order a new one before anymore snow flies. I haven't had much deer sign in the last few days on the property but have had some dog tracks that aren't my dogs. I'll have to keep an eye out for the yotes.

I just unsubscribed from their e-mails and will no longer shop at any of their stores. When unsubscribing they asked the reason, I used other and filled in "You decided to stop carrying sporting rifles." Piss on that.

Good for them, I never bought anything from them anyway because they were usually the highest prices around, and all my local gun shops had no problem beating their prices.

Makes me laugh because Field and Stream (Dicks sister store) will continue to sell them. They did the same thing when Sandy hook happened but they magically made it back into the store a couple years later. It's a publicity stunt to try and pull more people into their scam deals.

I don't teach in Newark, I teach in a school on the southern tier and I would not say 1/3 of the teachers I had at Newark were conservative but where I teach on the southern tier they are definitely more conservative. The schools on the southern tier are far more rural than up there. Between Sodus and North Rose I'm not surprised, big apple country and potato country up there. Not a whole lot of colored folks down here other than Elmira and Binghamton.

Yes at the district I teach at I would say about 1/3 are conservative that hunt and fish. And I grew up in Newark, compared to schools up that way down here on the southern tier they don't hold a candle to rural. I know your area Red Creek, Sodus, Williamson, Marion. I grew up around those towns they aren't rural in comparison to what is down here.

You're right but I think as adults it shouldn't bother most of us that kind of gore. The problem is the children see this, and think it is the norm. I have changed what I watch on TV with the kids around to not show them this kind of stuff or to hear the swear words that seem to litter all forms of entertainment. He might hear dad slip once in a while but between me and some of the radio shows and television he won't hear it nearly as much from me. It is things like that more parents need to do. Just the other day my wife had some today's hit radio on and the women on there swore right on radio like it was nothing. What happened to the day guys didn't swear around women and when women didn't swear around guys.

How wide is this disc? Is it wider than the ATV? I was thinking about something like this or building one from an old 3 point disc. I would like to have one about the width of the wheeler maybe a touch wider. I am also considering no till but still up in the air.

Really? that much of a difference? Man I was hoping it would have been closer in taste. Maybe I'll just get one to do french fries (I hate soggy steak fries) thanks for the heads up. I was planning on still doing the walleye and perch fillets in veggie or canola oil. That sounds like the perfect sized fryer. We used to have one of those black pot looking ones but man they made a mess of the counter and floor even with a splatter shield. Lately we have just been using our deep fry pan and some oil on the stove, seems to be doing a good job but I like the simplicity of a deep fryer. I too have the larger outdoor deep fryer we have used for clams and frying turkey.

Same, we stream everything and it will just sit there "loading". If pay for a service I better be getting what they "Guarantee". You need to make sure you are hardwired and nothing else is using the internet. It is supposedly only that fast if there is only 1 computer/device hardwired to the router. I did that and still got ridiculously low numbers and they basically told me to pound salt.
