  1. Same thing happened to me the arrow shaft has to be perfectly flat or bend those little metal prongs towards the shaft so when you shoot it comes on. If the shaft isn't flat across the back then just that little pull against the nock releasing from the string turns it back off. I video taped my shot and looked in slo-mo what was happening and the nock was turning on then back off after it came off the string. I went to nocturnals after and haven't had any complaints other than some of the colors aren't as bright. The firenocks are by far the brightest and longest lasting that I have seen. I haven't personally used them but if money allows next season I will be buying a set.
  2. The 2003-2007 classic years were their bankrupt years probably the worse time to own a chevy. I have an 03 and even with the problems I have had I'd probably own another definitely if they come out with a little diesel. The fit and finish in the chevy and GMC trucks are fantastic compared to others. The only reason why dodge gets my nod is the 1500 diesel, just wish they offered a 1500 in an 8' bed. Sucks all manufacturers got rid of the 1500 8' bed trucks.
  3. The longevity of the turbo motor is horrible I have seen and talked to several that have 100k+ on the motors and use a good amount of oil and can see blue smoke while driving. After the rings are worn it's just a matter of time until the truck starts throwing codes best case scenario worse case piston and cylinder scaring or seized engine. I'm truly not impressed with the turbo motor when there was such a hype about the towing capacity and such. My next truck I will be keeping for 10 years or more so I will end up buying a dodge with the eco diesel.
  4. Just checked and it looks like there is Fisher and Bobcat trapping but no marten.
  5. Chemung County in Beaver Dams. I am waiting to see a bear that would be icing on the cake. I'm only 10 minutes south of Watkins Glen. Haha not entirely sure but they are a neat critter and I surely wouldn't want to get tangled up with one in a trap.
  6. Unfortunately I deleted the photos but I have had a ton of different wildlife on our property. We bought the property with hopes of hunting and trapping. When we bought the property I walked it and found lots of deer sign and some bobcat tracks but that was it. I was thinking at least there are deer but I have had 2 different fischers, 1 bobcat, a mink or marten (not sure it was a night photo and a bit blurry) tons of big rabbits. I'll post some photos when I get a few more. Pretty exciting knowing we didn't buy a chunk of land with no animals.
  7. watched a couple young bucks go at it in the field next to my house the other day. Those young buggers are starting to get feisty.
  8. I don't think you will be disappointed, I like mine. Don't "wash" them by submerging in water, it ruins them.
  9. Don't be so stubborn and shoot a string loop with a release.
  10. That's it right there! That is why he threw a fit. Knowing that you got permission and he got permission for himself and not his whole family. If you see him with more people or see more than just the 2 of you I would mention it to the landowner or just ask how many people they have hunting there you and the handyman might not be the only 2 that have asked. I know a farm that lets a ton of guys hunt it, you could walk this one creek bottom and it seems like there is a tree stand every 50 yards. Some people don't care how many hunt and just give anyone permission.
  11. Haha no problem, even if you were I see where your coming from. Not to stray but lately I noticed a lot of people adding to the bottom of their post to say they aren't trying to bash someone or no offense. When did we get so sensitive it is some constructive criticism take it for what's it's worth. I like the nocturnals but have had them clog up with blood and make it hard to turn off. Best thing to do is turn it off right after you find it. I also shot the bloodsport nocks and haven't had an issue. I have noticed that the nocturnals need to be replaced every couple years.
  12. They work every time and if they don't they will give a full refund and you keep the nocks, but They aren't cheap. I would hate to loose an arrow with one of those attached to the back.
  13. They both were over 7' tall on their hind legs. I'm 6' and fully extended with my arm up they were taller. All the bears I have seen over 7' were more than 500lbs alive and dead. I kid you not these would have filled the bed of my pickup truck. If you wanted to compare them to something they were a little smaller than a dumpster. No joke they were big freaking bears. One bear reached up the tree I hung my camera on to smell the branches I touched the other I shot came out of the thicket stood up 40 yards from my wife in the cut field and towered over her. She about crapped herself.
  14. My father in law shot the victory velocity arrows and they were fast but super brittle. He smack a couple arrows together shooting and like you said it collapsed the whole side. But as a trade off they were fast. He also has them break when shooting deer, hit a rib on exit and the insert end was all splintered. Nice arrow but were brittle.
  15. I was just thinking I might look into the victory devastators that Dicks has on sale right now. I bought some Carbon express devastators 4 or 5 years ago and they were great arrows.
  16. Most definitely, I was curious the other day and started pricing some lightweight shafts and for 1 doz. I'm looking at $115$150 for shaft only. Those DicksSportingGoods shafts for $30/doz work just fine for me.
  17. That is one thing that I liked about my setup I still got pass thru shots although I couldn't go through both shoulders just need to be a little more choosey with my shots. That being said I shot a nice buck straight on at 15 yards 10' off the ground in the neck above the brisket (just high enough to catch the spine) dropped him in his tracks and broke through the 1st vertebrate and lodged into the 2nd also caught the jugular. I couldn't believe the amount of damage that little 1" 75gr. BH on the 318 gr. arrow (total weight) did to that deer. Even for a light arrow my bow still packed a punch. Hit a buck through the shoulder blades with my new arrows weighing in at 348gr. complete, and no different results than my lighter 318 gr. setup. I just got to the point where I didn't want to spend more money on the lighter arrows. I did have a noticeable difference in speed just from the string twang to the target thump between the 2 setups.
  18. Bowtech tribute draw is 28.5" last time I ran it through the chrono was 295
  19. All I know is on my grain scale for reloading was 318. I thought they were 8.2 maybe not.
  20. Same as the last 10 years. Ultimate steel rocket 75gr. I'm starting to get to my last few blades so I might have to make a change next year or the next.
  21. My arrows are 8.2 gpi at 26" long and 75gr. BH the arrows are right at the max weight for the spine actually a touch light but never had an issue with my bow tuned. The bow groups great when I do my part. You won't notice much of a difference in your pin position between 280fps and 300fps. If you are one of those people that like to use less pins and do the hold over method then you might benefit from it but going any faster won't really do much for you.
  22. How long of arrow and what weight bh are you shooting? My arrows have to be going around 300fps with 318gr. arrow with 62lb draw weight. I shoot out to 60 yards and my pins don't have a lot of distance between them. The 50 and 60 yard pins start to space out a little.
  23. Let her fly, I also pee in scrapes I find. I saw a nice 8 point get pissed (no pun intended) after I peed in his scrape 30 minutes prior. He tore up a good 6 feet worth of field. I laughed as a watched through my binoculars.
  24. Ok thanks, For now I'm just going with the open sights. Right now money is kind of tight with our house remodel. Seems like every time we make a budget it gets blown out of the water. I'm sure I could steal a scope of one of my other guns but 50 yards will likely be the longest shot I'll be able to take on my property.
