  1. Haha I can only imagine this as the wingman getting the fat girl situation.
  2. Never ran them but look like they could do some damage and catch a lot of air. Too bizarre looking for me to try, guess I'm a plain jane BH kind of guy. I only shoot fixed after having an expandable actually bounce off a deer on a quartering away shot. I would rather shoot a BH that allows for shots other than perfect.
  3. I too like to hone my skills a little and my new browning buckmark needs to be broken in on some fur. My son got eaten alive doing stands last week. He is 3 in Jan. and doesn't get the concept of swatting the skeeters. Poor kid looks like a freshmen in high school with all his bug bites on his face. Mom wasn't very happy with me.
  4. Yup but I use the one without UV brighteners. And usually just throw my clothes into a non scented garbage bag because I take them in my car to work. Now I will just hang them in our enclosed patio. No special sprays for me, never bought into all that hype.
  5. Starting to feel like a dolphins fan. Watched 2 games last year bet I won't watch one this year. I quit watching after Kaepernick didn't get fined for not standing for the anthem. I have no respect for anyone that disrespects the country they got the opportunity to make the money they make and play the sport they supposedly love so much. Screw the NFL.
  6. .243 and 06 would be my choices. I love the .243 just a natural born killer. The 06 will kill anything in the North America and very similar to .308 for ballistics. .243 gets my nod because they are a perky little gun that are under rated for deer.
  7. I know I'll get flamed for this but I have hit 1 lung straight down and with a center punched lung I have never tracked a deer more than 60 yards.
  8. If you spine any deer always put another arrow in them! I forgot to add that to my post.
  9. I'm in the NW corner of Chemung North of Corning and Horseheads. Never hunted over that direction, I know Ithaca is loaded with deer and have a special season to try and remove some of the more urban deer. Good luck over there, not much longer.
  10. If you stop they will get nervous and usually take off. Once we parked the quad in the middle of the field where deer sometimes walk through to try and push them towards the edges where we have stands and it worked but they ran around the edges of the field past it and us.
  11. haha no I was bow hunting, the reason why I passed him he was a week early before the season started. I have a video of him under me chasing a red squirrel up my tree.
  12. Same but the rabbits have been out every evening and morning munching on the clover in the yard.
  13. 2007, 35 days Wayne county. It was unusually fast, but my references might have helped. 2 of my references were on the judges election campaign, and good friends of our family.
  14. The first photo with he bear is a nice one. Bet he is around the 200lbs. range. I'm guessing this camera is the dark cloak or something similar. I have the same/similar camera but only use the video function because of the single picture option unless it's on a food plot the deer stick around.
  15. Unfortunately, but that is a healthy looking yote. Had a coyote on camera the other day behind the house about 50 yards, they are getting bold in my area. My dogs won't take to kind for some wild intruders in the yard. We have also saw a rise in fox dens on our property which helps with field mice but they also kill the rabbits, turkey and grouse in our area. Last year I passed on a big beautiful red fox with perfect boots, not this year I would love to get a full body mount of one.
  16. Man that is tough, the right side looks like no velvet but the left screams velvet with the soft edges but could just be the camera. He is a brute and I would guess 4.5 years old and around 130" if hard horned 120" if in velvet. If that's velvet he will loose some of that mass. I am leaning towards velvet because of the same shade of color as his body.
  17. That makes sense being that 3/4 of the state is considered Southern Zone and probably where the majority of where people hunt.
  18. It's just too logical to do it that way. Youth should be the only ones that should get an either sex tag they can take advantage of any opportunity they get. Anyone that picks up a bow and heads to the woods knows that it is more difficult to harvest a deer with the bow than a gun. For the majority of the guys that bow hunt know this and is the driving reason why they do it. Not many drop $1k just to feed their family off venison. Whether the success rate is lower or not why should a bow hunter have a chance to take either sex deer over a gun hunter? I'm a bow hunter and feel as though everyone should get their fair chance at a doe permit we all pay for licenses and still isn't a guarantee but at least you have a chance. I also think they should offer a "Grand Slam" license and if you buy a sportsman, bow, and ML you get free DMP's.
  19. Man I can't remember it guess I'm out. Darn I better not wound a deer or I have to publicize it and get electronically lynched.
  20. It is the only way to actually manage the amount of doe being taken legally. There will always be people that poach deer but this way they would allow equal chances to residents first and actually control the population as they see fit.
  21. Possibly if they take the either sex tag out of the equation and make it antler only then allow for a lottery of doe tags in those areas that have PP or no doe. At least there would be some glimmer of hope for a doe tag. The wild card either sex tag is a horrible way of managing deer herds.
  22. Nope, I have been scouting using my cameras only I haven't had any time to scout the woods. I know that sounds horrible but they are my eyes in the woods. I barely get time to practice shooting.
  23. As much as it cost DEC they should just make them mail in again. It was simple fill it out put it in the mail Done you already filled it out the tag to transport so you wouldn't be wasting more time. Now you either have to call or go online both of which take longer and more patience waiting for crap to load or not work at all. I feel like there were a lot more people reporting when that was the case. The new way is more stream line but has its disadvantages. Honestly maybe we should all get one doe tag once you fill it you get another and so on until you're tagged out. Would help with poaching and keep most everyone honest. Not an EAB program.
  24. Been working on our house remodel a lot trying to get heat in the house before the temps get too low. Anyway I got out and shot a little. I figured out why my groups have been so far off. When I installed my sight I missed the bottom bolt and only tightened the one. I thought there was something wrong with me. I was able to get the 20, 30, 40, and 50 yard pin sighted in now just to practice a little more. My 40 yard group was tightened back up to within 1" restoring my confidence a little more. I'll post a pic tonight after shooting, very happy with my new sight and groups. Dodged a bullet on that one, I was almost considering skipping bow season until I could get my crap together.
