  1. Except Jefferson County, although there are a bunch of people that don't listen and do it anyway.
  2. Wow this is still going? I have been super busy and haven't had time to check in. I can't believe you all are still arguing one way or another it has been weeks and some of you are still butt hurt. If it bothers you call DEC and show them the thread, if they don't give a $h!t then you shouldn't either. For god's sake just go outside and enjoy some time with the family or go shoot some paper. EDIT: Better yet go grab a fishing pole and drown some worms. Pike, Walleye, Perch, Panfish, Salmon, and Trout are all in season so give her a go and relax.
  3. Much more limited amount of time to kill a bird and working 7:40am-3:10pm M-F gives me next to no time except weekends. At least deer hunting I can get into the woods for a few hours before sunset. The Spring Turkey season Noon quitting time kills it for me. I like to Walleye fish more than bird hunt so I barely make it out turkey hunting in the spring anymore.
  4. I'm a sucker for a nice rack....
  5. So pitbulls aren't put down because they were used as fighting dogs? They didn't hurt anyone. Pretty sure you saying a coyote won't attack smaller dogs or children doesn't make any sense. I get you think it should have been a reactive thing instead of proactive but would you be willing to take the chance on your livestock, pet, or child? The OP doesn't have livestock but I know you do along with a pet or 2 and I think I have seen you mention a child.
  6. So it's okay for a domestic dog to be euthanized if it attacks a human but wild animals get a pass? Look at the zoo's and the amount of wild animals that have been killed because of attacking humans. Either way wild animals when in nature or in a human occupied area are still wild and will do what ensures their survival whether it's attacking another wild animal or a person.
  7. Same, I have seen some of your posts over on LOU. I am under the same handle over there if you ever need any advice up on Lake O. A little less bickering over there with season starting up. Usually the forum I frequent is dependent on the season.
  8. Parents dog did the same but 2 of those big boxes of pellets. He made it through okay but needed a blood transfusion. Must have been close to 1.5lbs. of it.
  9. Couldn't get into the tool shed...
  10. We are only taxed on 3 acres at the house rate, the rest is zoned ag/woodlands.
  11. I wish our taxes were 8k for 300 acres we pay 7600 for 40 acres and a 1500 sq ft house. Can't wait to see what they get us for after our addition is done and the house is 3000 sq.ft.
  12. If the mother coyote was protecting her young from a small child you better believe there is a threat. You talk of knowing all about these predators then say things that contradict something you said a day ago. I have had coyotes in my backyard along with a fox or 2 this past winter one coyote cornered my GSP in the middle of the night when she went out my weim came in and scared it off. I will kill everyone that comes in my lawn no matter what time of year when they pose a threat. Had them in my garbage 3 weeks ago via nighttime security cam. You bleeding hearts can do what you want but the way he handled it I don't see a problem. Now what some of you were suggesting by filling the hole with water and drowning them out is asinine along with others saying just be near the hole will scare them off. I'm sorry me yelling at a yote in my backyard or my scent wasn't enough to keep the animal away and it didn't have babies at the time won't be enough for this guy. Get real people.
  13. Just this year people were being chased on long island in parks by wild coyotes. There was a thread not long ago about it.
  14. I really like Runnings, they remind me of the Southern chain Fleet & Farm stores. Wish there was a runnings down here on the southern tier! Maybe once field and stream goes belly up Runnings will take over their store. That would be a great move for runnings as the stores are already setup for what they sell.
  15. You will need a copy of mom or dad's driver's license and copy of birth certificate. The Driver's license is to ensure NYS resident, and congrats. My grandfather bought both my son's lifetime licenses even though I wanted to help pitch in he didn't care and wanted it as a gift from him. A gift for a lifetime he said.
  16. We ended up buying land with a house, we wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.
  17. The season after logging was horrible deer vacated the property, since it hasn't been bad.
  18. I don't have my reloading book in front of me but I use IMR 4350 in a lot of my rifles along with the IMR 4831. I like the IMR 4831 for my small rifles (.222 Rem, and .243 win) and IMR 4350 in my bigger calibers (.270 win, 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, .308 win)
  19. Petrified dinosaur nugget. Super rare make sure and get them all and sell on ebay for big money! Looks like a black walnut nut.
  20. Yeah I see it all the time or a pile of 16" logs that claims 2 cord and it is maybe 1 face cord. Sad part is people fall for it. I'm not against burning pine but I'm sure not dropping a tree for someone else to collect for firewood. If I have a pine fall at my house I split it for campfire wood not for heating firewood.
  21. @Belo I would look into them and make sure if you go the roof mount type you own the panels. I have heard of situations where people "rent" the panels and have had them installed on their roof and the ownership of the roof is then through the company you "rented" the panels through. Read everything and make sure you own the panels. Not sure what your guys problem is with wind but other than the maintenance it is clean energy. Also not sure why they are an eye sore I think they are neat. I have heard complaints of the noise they make but when the wind is blowing you can't hear it unless you are right under them. I'll have to see if I can find the video I took when we were snowmobiling on Tug hill. All you can hear is the wind blowing no rotor noise like everyone likes to claim.
  22. You should have a shut off right at the meter or just inside the house. Hardest part would be getting the pipes apart. Lighting your pilots would be the next hardest thing unless you have solid state ignition on the appliances then no lighting required.
  23. What are your guy's tally now? My seasoned wood is about gone so I will be burning fresh ash (around 25% moisture content) or just calling it quits and firing up the fuel oil furnace. I have gone through about 6 cords of wood this season burning non stop from the beginning of October to now. I need to build up next years supply if it is going to be anything like this year. My plan was to have 4.5 cords for each year but I'm thinking I should plan on 6 at a minimum.
