  1. Bushnell throphy 2 of them did not last 1 year. Moultrie going strong after 3 years .
  2. Went into the gun safe today to get the 870 and some # 4 Heavy shot out and I noticed I have more custom rifles. then factory stock ones , even the Remy. 870 Is not stock, it has a scope and a camouflage paint job on it.. Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
  3. There the 2 brands I have been looking at, thanks and have a happy Holliday. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  4. This fellow Mort , was he from Long Island by any chance .Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
  5. Let's see what is going to happen the up coming hunting season, if the weather continues to be mild there are going to be more deer running around. Our forests are over grown with tall trees and no under brush that the deer feed on, why doesn't the DEC take some of our license money and spend it on clear cutting on the state lands to improve the habitate.
  6. I am sory that I sold my 40 year old Savage Stevens , Looking forward for something to replace it and do not want to spend $1000.00 , Is there any make and model in the $500.00 Price range that is pretty decent. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  7. Have you thought about trying 150 grain vis. 165/ 168 grain?.
  8. We bought the liners for the calibers that we wanted, I have no idea if the still sell them ,the way less and less thing are made now days. I will have to check in the Brownells catalog. I wish we would have taken pictures of the rifled shot guns , some of them we mounted scopes on also.
  9. After 50 years of machining , heat treating and destructive and non destructive testing. As said above Don't worry about it. Unless you are shooting your MZ loader at 0 degrees or below, then don't walk with your muzzle down, when you go to fire it you might hear poof instead of bang. 50 caliber sabots Do Shrink enough to slide out of the bbl. Note: we fooled around with a lot of conversions years ago, one thing was making double barrel rifles out of 410 side buy side shot guns. We would use barrel liners machined .001 larger then the bore , put the liners in a chest freezer and the bbl. in an oven at 500 degrees. Then slide the liners in the barrels. Then chamber them. We made .35 Rem., 44 mag., 30 -30 and never had any come loose.
  10. Do not worry about clover overtaking your lawn if you have wildlife around, they will eat it up year round , i have a problem keeping enough growing with a few acres of it in different areas.
  11. I am pretty sure you need to get a permit from the police or DEC for the road kill at least around me you do.
  12. I have and had a number of ackley improved rifles, you are not going to gain that much,it equals about 10% more powder. You will have to spend XXX on dies ect. Plus rechambering or a new bbl. If you are just hunting with it your not going to shoot it that much as with a .223 or .243 that will be more forgiving on your arms.
  13. Don,the feel bad about the Remy. Shooting bad. I have a Salo 75 that would not group no mater what I fed it . We wound up glass bedding the action, it now shoots cloverleafs with factory ammo an reloads.30 06 caliber. Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
  14. One area we hunted in the past we would walk up to the spots we would post in the dark, one time while at a spot at day light I turned around and behind a downed tree there was a small spike buck bedded and it did not move until I walked towards it. Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
  15. You want to make it so the deer can get into and around the hinge cut trees , cut them at least 5 ' off of the ground so the deer can walk under them also. An area with pines and hemlock will be good, they were hitting them hard by me last winter , they like to bed under them also.Any over grown apple trees can be cut back and thinned out in Jan. to March with out hurting them if you want to let some more light in. I was trying to post the Above vid.'s but could not they are good.
  16. Model of the mentioned rifles not the caliber , the are the few of the better rifles in that caliber. Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
  17. I have this caliber narrowed down to three rifles. #1 Remy. 700SPS, #2 Remy. 700VTR , #3 Savage 10/110 Predator Hunter Max 1. Anyone ever own one of these model rifles and what do yo think of it. Not interested in any others, Thank You.
  18. Buy a Rock Chucker press , and be done .
  19. Am I e wrong in thinking that big wood,s hunting would be long distance shooting as compaired to the heavy wooded areas of the Catskillls which averages 50 to 100 yards. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  20. X2 on the above, also bbl. Length is determined by calibrer, bullet , weight and the type and amount of powder used for that round. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  21. That's a,heck of a scope for the money. Just bought a Vx 111 for my. 30 06.Google scopes for a 22, I found 1 ,2 to7 power along the, lines of a tasko in the lower 100 dollar range. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  22. There are some spots like that in the lower Catskills also .Not far from rifle hunting areas, one spot comes to,mind that is archery only because it is near a multi use town park, that is for boating and fishing.Even though it is sourended by heavy woods,as said before you have to keep asking until you find the right town official to give the answer to your question. 23. Good to see he made it threw another hunting season .so far the weather. Has not been that bad, hope he makes it threw the up conning winter. Sent from my VS880 using Tapatalk
  24. I did a little bit of hinge cutting a few days ago ,young 4" trees mostly maples that I will cut down after the winter, the deer are hitting them already. Sent from my SM-T817V using Tapatalk
