I'd be surprised if that early firearm season passes.

The final proposal got signed on Monday, but not approved yet. Here's some text of the highlights. DEC link at the bottom. In the proposal the DEC stated it is proposing to: Strategically increase antlerless harvest where necessary by establishing a 9-day season for antlerless deer beginning the 2nd Saturday in September with firearms in Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) 3M, 3R, 8A, 8F, 8G, 8J, 8N, 9A, and 9F, and with bows in WMUS 1C, 3S, 4J, and 8C; Reinstate either-sex deer harvest opportunity during the early muzzleloader season in WMUs 6A, 6F, and 6J; Extend the legal hunting hours for deer and bear to begin 30 minutes before meteorological sunrise and end 30 minutes after meteorological sunset, consistent with legal hunting hours in most other states; and Increase hunter safety by requiring all hunters pursuing deer or bear with a firearm, or anyone accompanying them, to wear a solid or patterned fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink hat or vest or jacket. This proposal will be available for public comment through August 8, 2021. DEC released its draft deer management plan for public review in the late fall of 2020. The final plan released today includes revisions and clarifications based on the DEC’s review of more than 2,000 comments submitted by individuals, organizations, and elected officials. The full Deer Management Plan can be read on the DEC website. New York's Deer Management Program - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

We tried getting out last Sunday about 10:30 am at the Hemlock lake north launch as the south launch is unusable due to low water level. Well, parking ran down the road for 7/10 of a mile and the launch was a circus with people trying to get out and get in at the same time. Normally not an issue as it's a wide area, but tow vehicles were getting squirrely trying to navigate around each other and with folks who parked at the end of the line, it was a 10 minute wait at least for people beaching their boat and then the long walk to the car. Plus there were a couple guys cranking their tempers up. We went over to Canadice and it was close to the same thing. We just wanted to get out for a couple of hours for some quick fishing and I wound up saying screw it and went home as I didn't want to deal with the crowd. We wound up walking over to the neighbor's pond and had some fun and a couple of cold ones. I caught about 50 dinks and my wife was catching catfish. So at least we got our couple of hours in, but the little boat stayed dry. -

So sorry for your loss, Left Field

My eyes got a bit misty reading this. So sorry for your losses Jay. That's a lot in such a short time. Great story and what a great tribute!

Congratulations to your daughter!

I haven't been out since opening weekend, but I am out every morning with the dog at what I think is flydown time (I know it varies), and for the last week or so for another half hour with coffee on the deck. Haven't heard a gobble in three weeks. In April it sounded like we were being invaded by Turkeys.

That bothers me. I pass no judgement on who wants to wear a mask. I think I would have either strongly coughed in her direction or looked straight at her and said f*** you. I do admit to smirking to myself when I see someone masked up in a car all alone. -
Happy Birthday!

Found this by googling gun, vise, aluminum. Doesn't give a lot of detail, but it's a start. aluminum vise, gun smithing, hobby, crafts, gunsmith | #1821172426 (worthpoint.com)

Any manufacturer identification stamped on it somewhere? Part numbers maybe?

Congratulations to Michaela! Looks like you raised her right!

So sorry you have to do this Larry. I've been through it a few times, and I probably waited a bit too long each time. You'll know when it truly is the right time. 15 years is a good life, but that doesn't make the decision any less difficult.
