  1. Thanks very much for the work! Here are a pair of items I've noticed: - I'm unable to load the site on Tapatalk. I'm using an iPhone, iOS 10.3.3. - The desktop site is slow to load selected forums. Please let me know how I can help..
  2. 60lbs. I'd like a quieter bow with a flatter trajectory, but my bow certainly has worked for me to date.
  3. This was one of my favorite threads last season. Glad Luna's back in action! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to following your journeys... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  4. Just ground up 15lbs of sausage, and I still have a couple of roasts. Oh... And a backstrap I've been saving for an early fall grilling.
  5. Maybe the topic title should read, "Hunters Hunt for Pretty Girl".
  6. I want to see this 8 pointer my neighbors keep seeing. Just see him in the wild - I have him on trail cam. Then I want to hunt him. I have a bead on his whereabouts during the rut, so I'm hoping this year is the year to actually see him. But what I really want is to harvest a deer, any kind, with a friend. I'd like that quite a bit. It's a great experience, and I'd really like to share it.
  7. This morning (man, it's muggy up here on the mountain): The arrow to the right, 30 yards, 18' elevation, BH, grip and rip. The arrow to the left, which makes me nervous, 30 yards, 18' elevation, BH, 45 second hold on target. More practice needed here... This was the second shot of the two. These are from 25 yards, 15' elevation, BH, on grip and rip, the other 45 second hold on target: I'm pleased with these. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  8. As often as I can. Right now, it's a few times a week. I'm also trying to make the first shot count. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  9. If you shoot there again, could you post a pic of that ? I'd like to see it for reference... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  10. Congratulations! I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  11. While we snacked on last year's doe's tenderloins with cheese and bread, we made 15 lbs of sausage, with a 50/50 pork butt ratio. Might not be dinner tonight, but I figured I'd save y'all from 15 nights of dinners... ha! Looking forward to fresh meat! I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  12. Reads like you've got a solid plan for the opener. Looking forward to those pics... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  13. This morning: The bottom arrow: 30 yards, 18' elevation, BH The slightly higher arrow: 25 yards, 15' elevation, BH Today's exercise deviated from grip and rip, and focused on a full-draw hold on target for 45 seconds. I also had to deal with some distraction from a porcupine that kept walking 14' behind the target. He was looking for a suitable tree to climb, and is apparently pretty picky... I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  14. My buddy who hunts the ADKs swears by his father's BLR, and hunts with it any chance he gets. That lever action makes it easier to keep an eye on that target for follow-ups... Congrats on the acquisition, and hopefully you get a harvest to go with it. Oh, and to answer your question, Browning BLR in 30-06 is what I've really been eyeing for the past few years. Color me jealous. Ha.
  15. This morning's: Top arrow: 30 yards, 18' elevation, BH - grip and rip Bottom arrow: 25 yards, 15' elevation, BH - grip and rip Forgot to post yesterday's, but similar results. I'm more deliberate in my form these past few days, and I'm looking at these results as positive developments. I think 30 yards is going to be my maximum distance this season. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  16. Like rob-c, I use the Rinehart 18 in 1 target. I've had it for two years, and still have the majority of the targets left for use. It's been worth the money. I use Montec G5 practice heads exclusively (no field tips), and Montec G5 CS broad heads when hunting.
  17. How many tags do you currently have? 4 tags = 4 deer. - Archery tag (early season) should be either antlered or unantlered. - DMP (doe tags) are clearly for unantlered only, and specific to a WMU. - Regular Season tag is for antlered during regular season, but if unused, becomes an either antlered or unantlered tag in the late season. - The muzzleloader tag (late season) should be unantlered only. EDIT: You can use this tag in the early archery season.
  18. A little better. Closer was grip and rip from 20 yards, 15' elevation. Bottom left was grip and rip from 30 yards, 18' elevation. Both BH. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  19. I can taste the forest. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  20. 20 yards, BH, 15' elevation. Gotta get better on holding my form steady for that first shot. I'm moving after release to watch the arrow, instead of following through and viewing through the sight. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  21. This is bizarre: About a dozen of these popped up this week. This tree is more confused than I am. I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk
  22. Don't forget to check out state forests, in addition to WMAs... My first year hunting, I hunted Partridge Run. I wasn't a bow hunter at that point, but I saw lots of deer during bow season, and never saw another hunter. Fall turkey was a lot longer then, but that experience is, in part, what pushed me to take the bow course.
  23. Mostly ready. Clothes washed, and hanging outside, but new pants and jacket on the way and they'll need washing. All clothes will get the Sawyer's treatment a few days before opener. Stands set and checked. Plans for hunts coming together, with a new property opportunity available. Time to stop writing and practice with the bow, which is what I need most.
  24. Drop them a line, if you want to participate. The following is from DEC's website: Want to help? We need more bowhunter participation in: northern, eastern and southeastern counties, and in Suffolk and Westchester counties. To participate or to get more information about the Bowhunter Sighting Log, e-mail us ([email protected]). Please provide your name, address, hunter ID (back tag number), a list of the counties where you hunt, and whether or not you have participated in New York's bowhunter log in any previous year. Thank you for your interest!
