  1. I bought one of these to try from Harbor Freight for about $39.00 on sale with a coupon. Haven't shot a deer since I bought it so I don't know if it will work or not but thought it would be easier than hooking & un-hooking the trailer all the time. NICE BUCK BY THE WAY!!
  2. Walked in this morning right on the big bodied 4 point I have seen 5 or 6 times this year. Tried to bleat him in but as soon as he got down wind game over. He is a big deer probably 160-180lbs but now he is a half rack. Lost it in the last week or so. He definitely needs to be taken out of the gene pool. Saw another tall 6 with a doe 100+ yards away all before I got to the stand. Nothing from the stand...might try the climber this afternoon.
  3. One of my favorite places in the Adirondacks. Lots of wilderness and if you want to be alone that is the place to go. Congrats on the harvest. That has to be one of the hardest places in the country to kill a deer.
  4. What changes happen after opening day of regular deer season? THE HONEY DO LIST COMES BACK OUT
  5. I agree...the video was posted to answer a question posted about how to use a lifeline with a climber. I don't know why one would use a short line either but is was meant to show how to use a life line with a climber. I guess length would be a personal choice but my personal one is long enough to reach the ground.
  6. Another non-productive morning. One doe 75 yds away. Acted like she was spooked by something behind her and headed in the opposite direction. Taking the afternoon off & going out to dinner tonight. Two days left to try to get it done. Congrats "Grow" on the buck. Pressure is off.
  7. You are going to the woods with a lose scope????????? What am I missing here? What is going to stop it from turning right or left if it can move forward & back?
  8. Only job in the world you can be wrong everyday & still get paid...weather person!!!!!!!
  9. Bow season 15mph Gun season no limit I just hunt on the ground if it gets to bad.
  10. Another fruitless day...hit a piece of state land about 40 miles from here, spent the day and did not see a thing. Took the back roads checking fields on the way home and never saw a deer in a field until after 4:15. Between 4:15 & 4:45 counted 30 deer. 1 Group of 7 1Group of 3 1Group of 10 2 singles in separate fields 2 Groups of 4 in separate fields. Most ironic part....not one single buck with any of them.
  11. They are out there but unless you have access to them you can't get them. In the block I live in there are not a lot of deer but yet 5 miles down the road a farmer complains about all the does he has. Won't give access to anyone but family & a few friends so I guess he will have to live with them eating his crops. Like the DEC says...There are a lot of deer out there. .......It's just a big percentage cannot be accessed. Same old stuff year after year.
  12. Not sure yet...leaning towards public in the morning with the shotgun & private in the afternoon with rifle. Depends if I score something between now & then with the bow.
  13. Been hunting pretty hard trying to fill one tag before gun season. Hunted 8h 8n & 8g, and have not had one shot all season. Seen a few deer but not like what you would expect archery season. Pulled all my trail cams because they show nothing but late night & early morning movement. I'll keep trying till fri. cause lord knows I HATE GUN SEASON!!
  14. Please not this discussion again. I thought we wore it out last time
  15. Don't kick yourself Eddie.....It happens to all of us. Just some don't admit it.
  16. If the key doesn't turn spray a good penetrating oil in the lock, let it set for awhile and then keep trying. Might take a while but it usually will work. Hold a rag on the tail gate so it doesn't run down the paint because it can stain or remove paint. Once it is free (if that is it) spray every once & awhile to keep it free. I use this one.
  17. Guy I know shot his brother last week with a xbow
  18. Tug Don't assume that cold weather makes them less of a risk. I have picked them up even in the cold temperatures especially in the southern tier. They are nasty little critters and a royal pain in the you know what. Had my dog out a couple of weeks ago on state land in Canadice and she picked one up She is on tick treatment regularly . Ya just never you where or when you will pick one up. Spray helps but I am not convinced it is the cure all. They seem to be more prevalent in the southern tier but it looks like you have to watch for them wherever you hunt.
  19. Don't panic ....go back in the morning if you can't get in touch with deer search & pick up the trail again. Mark the spot where you last found blood and start doing a grid search. Keep in mind that a lot of times they will double back the way they came. If not pushed he will more than likely lay down & expire by morning. Cross your fingers the coyotes don't get to him before you do.
