  1. I plan on using my Henry as a plinking gun. If they force me to modify it to only hold five rounds, I might as well get rid of the gun. Have you seen how you load a Henry Lever Action? Pain in the butt!
  2. Haven't had it happen to me but a local gun shop owner told me it happened to one of his clients. The poor fellow had to bring the gun in and have the gunsmith modify it so that it only accepts five rounds. A shame since the gun was supposively a family heirloom passed down and was a classic. (forgot to ask what model) This is a concern to me as well since I already paid for a Henry Lever Action and it's on backorder.
  3. Agree with Papabear. Probably a poacher and he/she knew they were caught on film. While it's easier to just take the whole camera then to remove the card itself, it also easier to slip the card in your pocket. In case the landowner spotted them, the landowner won't know they took the card unless they go through their pockets. If they were to be caught with the camera in their hands, it's a different story.
  4. I have the Cyclops 9-Watt spot light. Small, lightweight, compact, and rechargable. Comes with a red lens cover. I've charged it once at the beginning of the summer used it sporadically during the season to get to and from my stand sporadically during the season and it's still holding it's charge. Rated out to 100 yards but won't push 250. http://www.cabelas.com/spotlights-thor-cyclops-sirius-9-watt-led-spotlight-1.shtml

I use the Havalon Piranta Tracer for skinning, Bucks Nighthawk for the heavier stuff, and I always carry a Leatherman multi-tool.
  6. I used Wellbutrin. Ask your doctor. Expensive (but then again, they're not that much more than what patches would cost) but it really works.
  7. Photography. Particularly landscape photography. Sports - following and participating in. I've been on the same softball league the past 7 years. We play every Sunday. We take it very serious so that dominates my summer. I go to the gym or run outside regularly but I haven't done so in months. Hiking/camping/fishing. Traveling. I have to admit, I play video games here and there as well but I don't play online because I'm tired of getting killed by some 12 year old who has no job or social life to worry about and plays all freakin' summer.
  8. I don't know about Utica but I wouldn't eat city squirrel or pigeons. You are what you eat and in their case, it's trash.
  9. Ha! Don't open it? I guess I'm a bit narotic. Can't stand seeing an unread thread in my queue.
  10. Can we get an option to filter certain threads? Take for example. There's a thread about the a gun show in Rocherster in the General Chit Chat forum. I have nothing against gun shows but Rochester is a bit far from me so there for, that conversation does not pertain to me. In order for me to prevent it from constantly showing up in my "View New Content" view, I have to filter out the entire General Chit Chat forum which I don't want to do. Thanks.
  11. Sounds like a whole lot of fun! Congratz!
  12. Call up Winchester. I had a question regarding a Savage I bought of someone who had done a bit of modification on the rifle. I called Savage up and gave them the serial. They told me the make and model, etc right over the phone.
  13. Trust me, I never get even a 1/4 back in value on what I have to spend each year.
  14. Laser rangefinder, ugly sweater, a nice shirt and tie, some sort of candle ornament set for the house, a "The Art of Shaving" shaving brush ($100+ for a freakin' shaving brush? What!). Out of everything, the best gift was a $1 shot glass made out of candy cane from my youngest niece. Don't know know how to look at that. Getting a thoughtful surprise gift from a 12 year old or the fact that she's already associating me as the drunk uncle?
  15. Due to velocity, the 17HMR packs a whole lot more punch than a 22LR. Sure, you can kill a lot of things with a 22LR (especially with the stinger or velocitor rounds) if you can get the proper shot placement. But I don't know too many animals who will sit still, present you with a perfect broadside shot 100% of the time. I have no personal experience on it but I've seen a lot of videos of people shooting something as small as a raccoon with a 22LR and the coon runs off. Took the person another 2 rounds to take it down. I want to be ethical and I'm humble enough to say I cannot make a perfect shot 100% of the time so I give myself a little extra "oomph" to account for when I make an off shot.
  16. Giants have a lot of injuries but they still have enough to cover the Jets. Corey Webster can cover "Plexiglass" Burress, Michael Boley will can cover Dustin Keller. That leaves Aaron Ross and Prince Amukamara to double up on Santonio Holmes. Jets offense simply isn't that good.
  17. Giants play at their best when their backs are against the wall. Jets don't have a running game and Mark Sanchez is too busy chasing 19 year olds (Kate Upton) instead of winning football games. The Sanchez/Eli comparison is ridiculous. Eli is having one of the best years of his career and now he finally is working with the most talented receiving corp since their superbowl run.. I give just a slight edge to the Jets defense but the difference in offense is huge.

    Good News

Congratz! Best possible gift for Christmas.
  19. Depends on what she's refering to.
  20. Tried it at the very end of last season with success. Find their route. They tend to take the same route at the same time. Set up a blind. Setup several decoys. Use caller. First one down, you let him go. He's a scout. Wait till a bunch come in.
  21. How close do you need to get with a 12 gauge in #4 shot? #4 is really small.
  22. Just to make it clear that it's a red dot sight and not a red dot scope. Red dot sight is basically iron sights. You're just replacing the iron with a red dot. A red dot scope is a scope. You're just replacing the cross hairs with a red dot. The difference when looking through them is the same as iron sights versus scope. But in any case, here are my opinion when comparing the pro and con of red dot sight versus a traditional recticle scope. Red dot: Pro - Good open visibility. No change from the naked eye, you can easily find your target. Design for rapid reaction shooting when you don't have much time to aim. Con - Need to always remember to turn on/off and worry about battery. Not very accurate beyond 50 yards. I noticed when I'm aiming at a 3" circle past 50 yards, the red dot covers the entire circle. Scope: Pro - More accurate. Don't have to fuss with batteries, turn it on/off, etc. Con - Tunnel vision. Harder to find target through a scope versus red dot sight.
