The QDMA's agenda is posted all over the place. Website, Facebook, their magazine, etc etc etc. The NY QDMA advisory council has their webpage http://www.nyqdma.org/where you can see what they are doing. They also have a Facebook page. In case you dont know how the branches work, each branch chooses their own stance on issues. We arent told what to think, or what to support. For example, some of the NY branches support mandatory ARs, others do not. We thanked the DEC for taking the time to come out and speak. Honestly, anytime we have asked them to do something at one of our events, they have been great. Why would we not thank them for that? Just because we may not agree with some of their programs or methods doesnt mean we should not extend courtesy and professionalism toward them. What does the "quality deer" part of the organizations name have to do with the DEC?

Wont resort to name calling, but you just called him clueless and took a personal shot at him. Contradict yourself much?

It doesnt draw very much. The charging system on most of the side by sides and bigger wheelers these days are made to handle winches, and other electrical accessories. I talked to the dealer before I bought it, and they said that it could handle quite a bit more than that. Im actually thinking of adding 2 LED pod lights to the back of the roll bar, to get some light behind me as well.

I have always been driven nuts that my headlights get blocked out when Im plowing with my side by side, and it would always be nice to have more light when gutting a deer in the dark after an evening hunt, so I decided to put a light bar on it. I ended up going with a 52" bar that puts out 50000 lumens. I havent gotten any good pics of it at night yet, but the thing is like looking into the sun. I think it will serve my purposes just fine. Only took a couple of hours to test fit, mount and wire up.

732 responses isnt too bad considering the normal fluctuations in site traffic here. It was posted during a normal "quiet time" of the year. Not much hunting activity going on. Just because there are half to three quarters of a million hunters in the state, there are only 6000 or so registered members. Of those, maybe 1/4 are really active. Our Facebook page has just over 2200 likes total. The vast majority are most likely regularly active or semi-regularly active members here.

There are plenty of guys out there that would and do take 50 yard shots at deer with compounds. Takes alot more practice than shooting 50 yards with a crossbow, but its entirely doable.
-
Its easier to make a good shot with less practice, so in turn you have less deer wounded by guys that go out there regardless of not putting in the proper amount of practice.
-
If full inclusion happens, Ill finally buy one. I wont stop hunting with my compound though. I will use which ever one the situation calls for. Some of my stands would be no good for a crossbow.
-
Correct, and the crossbow hunters will have to be as well, since their effective range is no more than a compound bow in the hands of a skilled shooter. So what are you worried about? More dedicated, hard working hunters in the woods?

Im a haul from there. Near Rochester

Wish you were closer.

Thanks everyone!

Its funny, I hear things all the time exactly like what you hear here. people pissing and moaning about how the system sucks, the DEC sucks, they don't manage the deer correctly, blah blah blah. Then when an opportunity comes up to interact with the DEC, and make their opinions and ideas known, they say "Those meetings are a waste of time", they don't bother joining any organizations or becoming active in the process, and then they sit there and wonder why nothing changes, or the changes that do happen do not take their ideas into consideration. Sounds like a bunch of Bernie supporters.

Ive hunted with a few of them.

My trees have hardly been running. I think Im just gonna cork them up and toss the sap that I collected, which isn't enough to bother dealing with. Oh well, theres always next year.

WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal

So I haven't had much time this winter to get out and do much. Did zero small game or predator hunting. I did get out once so far for shed hunting. Did a quick once over of our food plots and some of the major trails near the thick stuff. Found a decent 4 point shed from one of the local 2 year olds smack in the middle of one of the WR plots. -
Does This Seem Lopsided To Anyone But Me?
WNYBuckHunter replied to DirtTime's topic in General Chit Chat
The thing that seems wrong to me is that the penalties were not more stiff for either of them. BTW, why would an ex-felon not be afraid of jail? -
I tapped my trees Sunday evening. All of the buckets were full this morning. The temps up here are going to be in the upper 50s and 60s this coming week, but are still dropping into the low 40s and upper 30s at night. They will be running.

You dont quite have a good handle on economics 101 do you?

How to destroy / disable old hard drives ?
WNYBuckHunter replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
A flash drive, yes, RAM, no. You need power to hold data in a RAM module. Turn the power off, and it might be there for milliseconds. -
Its only been a year?
