My single ATV trailer project
WNYBuckHunter posted a topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
So I mentioned before that I spent some time getting my little utility trailer together so I could pick up the quad I bought a few weeks ago. Well, I finally had the time to finish it up. It started out as one of those fold up utility trailers that I bought about 10 or 12 years ago. Back then I used it to haul around my old wheeler and lots of other stuff. One time I let my buddy use it to haul his wheeler to camp, he slapped a ball on the bumper of his S10 and ended up jack knifing it while backing up in a parking lot. Rather than straighten it out, he just pushed it, still jack knifed, and bent the hell out of the tounge. I ended up welding a new one together and welded the trailer frame in the middle so it was stronger and would no longer fold. For years it got used and abused and finally ended up parked in my fathers back yard, where he hit it multiple times with his tractor, broke all the lights and bent all of the brackets. Needless to say, I wasnt happy about it, so I finally brought it home, sanded and sprayed it with some flat black, straightened out the brackets, put a new set of lights on it, and used some 2x6s I had around as runners and added eyelets for tie downs. Tonight I made some ramps out of a couple of 4 foot 2x6 pieces and shipping brackets from a treadmill my dad bought, which I bent and drilled how I needed them to be. All total, I have $45 into this trailer (not counting the original purchase price because in all the years I have had it, it has paid for itself too many times over to count), not too bad. -
Not sure what you want to spend, but Gander Mountain has Ruger 10/22s with a scope on sale right now for $259. Thats not too bad of a deal.

Do you really know how easy it is to obtain a handgun illegally? Especially for those already embedded in the gang or other criminal circles? Its a heck of alot easier for them than it is for you or I to obtain one legally. They dont have to add anything to a permit, or go to the county clerk, or wait a certain number of days, or stand there at Gander Mountain and wait for Glenn the gun dept worker to fill out the paperwork. They just go up the street to Jimmy the crack and gun dealer and hand over a few hundred bucks, its really that easy. All the gun laws in the world wont stop that from happening. Now dont get me wrong, I do not agree with the free for all stance, but I am an NRA member and do not agree with many of the gun laws that are on the books or most of what is being proposed currently.

Sorry that you are first discovering this, but there are more of us out there than you obviously realized. Some are reluctant to let their opinions known about this, especially on a forum such as this, while I surely am not. I will say it again, and you guys can do the math if you are capable. If only 4 million are NRA members out of 70 million gun owners out there, you can scratch your own heads as to why they only have less than 6% of gun owners as members. Of course in your own minds you are the defenders of freedom while 66 million other gun owners and the rest of non-gun owners in this country are all left-wing communists. Whichever way you slice it guys, you are obviously outnumbered, even amongst your fellow gun owners! LOL That is a ridiculous comment to make. It's like saying that if you don't go to church you don't believe in God. You are assuming that the gun owners and hunters who are not NRA members are against the NRA. They may very will agree with the NRA but just don't pay to do it.Dave Actually if you do believe in God, why wouldn't you go to church? At least a good percentage of the time if not every Sunday. There are plenty of churches out there of all denominations that should fill anyones bill who claims to believe in a God. Once again you boys are twisting things the ways you THINK people should think. I have yet to hear any of you address the reasons for why you think 66 million gun owners choose not to join the NRA? Saying that the 4 million are the savers of freedom while not addressing the other 66 million gun owners reasons for not joining is BS in it's purest form. The best you guys can do is call them cheap and not wanting to pay dues. Anyone with half a brain can figure that there's got to be more reasons than that when people pay more for their freakin cell phones per month than a 1 years membership to the NRA would cost. Of course you guys are far from rational thinkers, so I won't be holding my breath for honest and straightforward reasons directly out of your own mouths. Not to get too far off with the religion stuff, but there are many many people that believe in god but dont go to church. Some of them just dont care to go to church, then there are others that believe in god, but not organized religion, and those are only two of the countless reasons people have for not going. Sorry steve, but you are making wayyyyy too many assumptions about this and the number of NRA members and why there arent more. You should have figured out by now that most people are just plain lazy and dont do alot of things like some think they should.

I used Simple Green, it does a great job, and I used way more than their recommended mix. I wouldnt use a pressure washer on the roof joints either.

Very nice! I saw one hit on the side of the road last evening, looked to be outside his ears already as well.

Soy beans in NY?
WNYBuckHunter replied to catskillkid's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I am just noticing some of the local farms starting to get their beans in. The guy next door has all of his corn in (growing nicely), but hasnt gotten any beans in yet. If we can get a few nice, sunny days in a row with no rain, then he might be able to get it done. -
Here it is, hasnt been voted on or made any progress from the looks of it. http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?default_fld=&bn=A00469&term=&Summary=Y&Actions=Y&Votes=Y&Memo=Y&Text=Y

I remember there being a proposal for crossbow use for the disabled, that would have been an add on for the already passed legislation that you are talking about, but I havent heard anything new about it.

Thanks! -
Didnt the original crossbow legislation that was passed already allow the use of a draw loc or other similar equipment for disabled hunters without a special permit? I could have sworn that was part of it. If you read the DEC's crossbow FAQs on their website, it specifically says that disabled hunters cannot use a crossbow during bow season.
-
There ya go! Good work!
-
If the stand is permanently attached to the frame and the wheels are removed after placing it, is it still a trailer? Thats the question, and what I posed to the DEC in my email. I will wait and see what they say and post it for you guys.
-
Nothing new. Disabled hunters can use the crossbow all they want during the regular season. This is just how it is for the next couple of years, then they will end up expanding its use to the archery season. Im not sure what that word document you added is all about, the legislation is not newly proposed, it was passed months ago.
