    I have not been able to find anything about any changes to pistol permits in NY this year.

    Yep, here it is. Fines actually go into the Conservation fund, and the DEC Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources is funded through that and a few other sources, one being the NYS general fund. http://www.dec.ny.gov/about/634.html

    I am almost 100% sure that fines collected by DEC do not go into the general fund, that is one of the ways DEC is funded. I kind of remember looking it up before. Ill do it again lol.

    PA has introduced them and I have not heard of accidents happening all over the place with them either. BTW, you have way more of a chance of getting hit by a car on your way to work than you do getting shot by an errant crossbow arrow in the woods or having your house hit by one.

    Right, because doing nothing fixes the problems we have. We can sit around and throw ideas out there all day, but the answers are already out there, you just have to look at other states.

    All from NJ, where its legal. From the trail cam pics I see on the board at Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops and on the web, I see alot of baiting in this state, and people being flagrant about it. With the budget restraints going on in this state, dont think that the DEC wont start paying attention to that kind of stuff. Just sayin.

    I am very much so looking forward to spring as well. Theres still over a month of coyotes left. I want to see the snow go away, and it is around here. Today is gonna be cold, but then its going into the 40s tomorrow and Thursday and even 50s Friday, so I should be able to get into the areas Ive been wanting to get into for coyotes again and get the Christmas lights off of the house.

    I wasnt being serious when I threw it out there. I think more drastic measures need to be taken with the NY gun season, like shortening them and not running them contiguously. Many states do have no optics seasons though. It might not be a bad idea though now that I think about it, just allow optics on crossbows for guys with eyesight issues. The idea behind no optics is to limit range, and crossbows dont have much range, so optics wouldnt be an issue with those.

    Yeah, it is a nice looking gun, and Im sure shes gonna shoot great. I took her all apart today and cleaned and oiled her. Im hoping to get to the range before too long!
