  1. My aunt and uncle had a springer that was an outstanding shed dog. He had no training at all but he was a machine when it came to finding antlers in the spring.
  2. Nice buck! What area of PA? I used to hunt in Potter County but its been a long time now since I last did.
  3. Good for him! He shot a buck he was proud to get and put it out there just like any of us would have.
  4. Had my #1 target buck on camera last night and am contemplating heading out for last hour but I think I'm going to pass. I'm about hunted out for the year.
  5. I think I've found it. An African goose is what it appears to be.
  6. I kept hearing what I thought was a swan honk every time I heard geese this morning while hunting. When I walked out this morning I was greeted by this critter. I. Pretty sure its a swan of some sort. Anyone ever seen one or know what sort of sub species it might be? It wasn't really interesting in getting away from me to fast.
  7. Hoping a big buck pops out in my bean field. There was one set of big tracks right next to my blind.
  8. Yes its legal. My friend shot one last year in 8F. Its still at the taxidermist. I think its almost done now though.
  9. I drove tractors as a kid that had to be shifted but never learned on a road vehicle til I was about 30. Then it was driving duece and a half's from farm to farm that I learned on.
  10. Your plan sounds good to me. I've done it about the same with corn many times. Just make sure the deer don't eat your beans off before you get your fence up.
  11. I feel the same way Larry. After the first week or so of gun season I start getting itchy for some pushes. I wouldn't really call what me and the guys I hunt with drives as there's usually only 3 or 4 of us. Even if we don't see anything its still fun to have made the plan and discussed how it worked last time and what deer we have gotten there before and who did the shooting.
  12. I recently bought a new truck. I got a couple thousand more for my trade in truck than I anticipated. The dealer told me used trucks in decent shape are bringing good money. There however wasn't much wiggle on the advertised internet price.
  13. Yes you'll have some clover in the fall but you won't believe how much more you'll have in the spring/early summer as it warms up. How long your clover plot continues to do well will be determined on how well you control the weeds and if you over seed or frost seed yearly. With good weed control by mowing when needed and frost seeding annually you can probably get 4 or 5 or possibly more years out of it.
  14. Your plan should work. The clover should come in good next spring. The oats won't come back. On my property the deer are very picky when it comes to food plots. They won't touch regular seed oats but they will eat the oats in the whitetail institute oats plus mix.
  15. Do you think the deer don't get into a neighbors ag field's or orchards where herbicides are used? Deer travel a long ways throughout the year.
  16. Finally did a little drive with my buddy's today that we were going to do a few days ago. We moved a few deer and one doe was missed that should have been a dead deer. Good time with good buddy's. Maybe I'll get out this afternoon.
  17. Saw nothing at my place tonight. A friend has a plan for a push tomorrow morning not far from where I hunt.
  18. I'm out. Snow is melting fast. Brought my 12 yr old with me. Maybe a dumb one will walk out in front of us.
