  1. Yup thats actually exactly what I did. Three different plots the original plot planted in brassicas the last two years was flipped to clover this year. Radishes planted this year was a brand spanking new plot. I will even give you some credit, I decided no-till after reading some of your post.
  2. The first year i did radishes and turnips they were barely touched till late November and even them some rotted without being touched. Last year they hit them at first frost, this year by the first week of September they were already hitting them hard. From what I've read and my experiences it might take a year till they learn to like them.
  3. Could it be true do I win first harvest of the year? Almost bailed on going to camp do to being sick, glad I didn't. First buck in four years shot him at 6pm 20 yards broadside couldn't have asked for a better shot. I kinda rushed it he came from over my left shoulder and all I could see was his body which was very large. Saw how wide he was and went for it. I was up in my climber at 10:30 and saw nothing all day till he stepped out. He was feeding on some radishes and rye on a new no till plot I planted this year (ph was 4.3). He came from a extremely thick briar patch and he went right back to his bed to die which was only 40 yards away. Easy track job couldn't have been a better hunt. One sit one kill. Getting him into my wifes suv was a different story. He was shot in between the two shady patches in the last picture. For me he is a trophy for sure. 5H Oneida County
  4. I saw a giant fisher last year pretty cool he was on a dead sprint and took me a second to figure out what the hell he was. I was planning on driving up to my cabin Saturday night so I could hunt Sunday and Monday but as I sit at work I can feel myself getting sick, of course what great timing.
  5. Close together is the theory. Weather underground has a simple chart that I use. Whitetail habitat solutions has a good YouTube video on the subject.
  6. I pay $25 for an 80 pound bag from my local co-op. I looked no location near you Biz.
  7. Yes spring for buckwheat. You can then broadcast your next crop and roll it in after 65-75 days. That will terminate the buckwheat while creating thatch to hold moisture in the soil.
  8. Saw the picture went to the grocery store and picked my garden the next day. Added a ghost pepper from my garden and some shrimp.
  9. PH was 4.3 on a new winding plot I put in this year. I was set on liming and planting only rye but I got a great deal on radishes so I figured why not? Two weeks later this is what I ended up with WOW was I suprised. I did spray Plot Max but not much else. I'm posting so anyone with really low ph doesn't get discouraged and either doesn't plant anything or only plants rye or wheat. This is also a no till plot I just dragged a tractor tire behind my ATV. My puppy decided to do wind sprints up and down the middle of the plot which seems to have hurt the radishes more then the ph.
  10. I picked up two 50lbs bags of wheat and rye the last two weeks. Local co-op worked out for me but they did say winter wheat is hard to find. I got lucky and they had Erie rye which is very cold tolerant. Crop production services in Florida NY.
  11. Help me out, how did ypu cook them what temp etc....they look damn good.
  12. Bacon, potatoes, shallots, pablano peppers, lots of garlic and about 6 over easy eggs to go right on top.
  13. I seem to have horseweed growing all over my clover plot. After reading up it seems to be glysophate tolerant so I mowed it down today. Am I correct in my identification? What shall I do to eliminate it? Clover has been crushed by deer but I would assume getting rid of this weed would benifit the clover.
  14. Wow. Im going to make a point to visit soon.
  15. Between house hunting employee's quiting and pretending to be an old man hurting my back I haven't been cooking a ton. No sides but some awesome baked cod tonight. Biz I need the name of your butcher your steaks always look great. Bionic I was looking for you Friday night no service up there but your food looked good as always.
  16. I think your on the right track with those choices. Looks great, do you have any idea of how the soil is? How large of an area?
  17. Wheat and rye on a new staging plot with some radishes lightly sprinkled in. I should get my soil sample back in the next day or two, if the ph is higher then expected I will add turnips to the plan. Turned over annual plots I've been building soil quality and planted WTI clover in April. Top seeded the clover plots with beets and greens which I had awesome results with last year. Questions for everyone, my property is filled with briars with that being said I have been thinking of turning over a clover and chicory plot and replacing it with beets and greens. With all the briars on the property should I focus on late season food source or stick with the clover mixure?
  18. Well I went zero for eight on my pear trees surviving so you might want to find a sub contractor for that job.
  19. I have some on my property if my vote counts I agree with gman.
  20. Antler King sells two products plot max to raise ph and Jolt which is a liquid fertilizer. Both have worked for me, you can also buy smaller amounts of plot max but the link will allow you to read about it. Last but not least it can be added with glysophate if you have to spray an area. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/antler-king-gallon-plot-max-25-gallon-jug?a=761059 https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/antler-king-jolt-foliar-fertilizer?a=2170472
  21. G-Man what do you prefer and why, winter wheat or rye? For me wheat seems to pull deer much better.
