  1. Congrats Joe! That's a great north country buck!
  2. My first bow kill was a stomach shot. The deer went about 100 yards and laid down. So I snuck out and left him for 6-7 hours. He was till there but dead.
  3. About 5 years ago I laid a scent drag to my stand. About 1.5 hours after sunrise I watched a nice buck working his way down the hill at about 80 yards out. He hit my scent trail and started to track me back to the truck. After that I wondered how many bucks I've missed because of that. I have never done it since.
  4. Dang! I was hoping to take my boy out trapping for the first time this year. We have a ton of coons. I'm not going to waste my time if it doesn't even pay my gas to deliver the hides.
  5. I took my daughter duck hunting on Saturday and she bagged this beautiful drake wood duck. I would like to have it mounted for her. I live near Pulaski. Can any of you recommend a good waterfowl taxidermist within an hours drive from my area?
  6. I have found so many lost arrows because of them. I however am a hard core Lumenock fan. They have 100 times more battery life than your Nocturnals.
  7. My daughter and I tried the early youth duck opener. It was so hot and nothing was moving. They need to change that date.
  8. My kids help build my blinds too. Good times. No pics Tio?
  9. Has anyone here ever hunted in Canada? What do I have to do to get my bow across the border and back?
  10. My first deer was a 5 point shot on opening day in 1981. Shot him with a 16 gauge Remington 1100 with I think it was a Remington slugger also.
  11. Very good Acts 10:13 There many more like that. Memorize some of these when you meet weirdo like Mr. Irving. http://www.openbible.info/topics/hunting
  12. Lynyrd Skynyrd with Ronnie at the helm.
  13. My cousin is selling his hunting camp. It is 170 Acres prime hunting land bordered by 5,000 acres of State Land. Two story camp 24' x 32', sleeps 10, gas lights, electric lights, gas cook stove, wood heat, shower room, generator shed, outhouse knotty pine interior first floor, full deck , covered porch. Remote location near Talcville, New York. Camp is accessible by two wheel drive vehicle. Deer, Bear & Turkey hunting. Fishing access to Oswegatchie River. Priced at $249,000. If you are interested PM me and I will give you a link with pictures.
  14. I wish they would put the buck zone map on their internet page. It's in the paper version but it's so damn small I cannot read it even with my glasses.
  15. After the past year of dismal license sales, down 2-4 million dollars from the previous year, I fear many more hunters will simply hang up their guns if they cannot hunt the buck of their choice.
  16. If its a heavier arrow with more penetration that you are looking for try CX Maxima Hunters. I use the 350's and I really like them.
  17. I would definitely give this a try!
  18. Thanks Paula! I've never heard of them. I will check them out. cdmckane Thanks I was actually in there this past Thursday. They had some hats but nothing nice. A bunch of over-priced junk and shady bradys. They used to have some nice stuff, that's why I drove down there, but not anymore.
  19. Yes I'm familiar with on-line. Plenty of places. But most hat companies have a $20 shipping fee and I'm not coughing that up twice if the hat doesn't fit. I was hoping someone here would know of a tack shop with a good hat selection near Syracuse.
  20. Hi Guys and gals, For those of you who don't know I participate in cowboy action shooting. (that me in the purple shirt btw). I need to get a new cowboy hat pronto. Unfortunately shops in New York that sell cowboy hats are few and far between. I'm hoping that someone here knows of a shop that sells nice high quality cowboy hats in either northern NY or within an hours drive of Syracuse. Now I don't want the rodeo style hats that they sell at Tractor Supply or (gag) shady bradys. I'm hoping that maybe one or two of you here who own horses might know of a tack shop with good selection. Thanks .
