  1. What is the little red light just above the time in the 3rd pic?
  2. I wouldn't have believed it unless there was video. Very cool, thanks for sharing.
  3. I wish I could see more north in pic #2. There appears to be a really nice pinch point (aka funnel) to the left of the pond. If a deer passing through those woods he has to "a" go around the left of the pond through the woods or "b" go to the right and be exposed out in the open. I'd sooner think that a deer would choose "a".
  4. In pic #2. If you move southeast of your stand location. Is that a dam across the creek?
  5. As soon as I saw the bunny pic I couldn't wait to scroll down for comments. Once again, great pics Matt. Brown chicken brown cow!!
  6. Don't let the use of loose powder scare you. If you practice with one of these, you can load just as fast if not faster than pellets. I also highly recommend Powerbelts. They are the number 1 muzzleloader bullet in the nation for a reason.
  7. If I had a dollar for every time I heard a rumor that Cabela's was coming to New York. Been hearing this for yeeeears. Won't believe it till I see it.
  8. I grew up in that area. Both of my grandparents lived in DeRuyter just up the road. Heartbreaking news.
  9. Apparently a skeet shooter who saw the levergun sitting there knew that us cowboys were done shooting. He asked around and nobody there claimed the guns so he set them aside in the club house till he heard from someone. If any of you are up north feel free to stop by and shoot CAS with us. We have pics on Facebook. Look for, Sackets Harbor Vigilantes. Thanks again everyone.
  10. If you get a chance call Doug Carlson at the NYS DEC Region 6 office. He is spearheading the Sturgeon recovery program and will want to hear about your catch. His number is 315-785-2263. He likes to keep records of sturgeon people have caught. Be careful, he may talk your ear off. Congrats on a great catch!
  11. Thanks for the second link. Looks like my problem is Quickweed. http://www.bhg.com/gardening/pests/insects-diseases-weeds/types-of-weeds/#page=16 The link say I should use a pre-emergence herbicide. I have never used one of these. Can anyone recommend one?
  12. I mentioned this weed in another thread and Doc asked to see some pics. So I decided to move the topic here so not to hijack. My food plot is in the middle of the woods so I have to clear branches every year so that it gets enough sunlight. It is about 20 yards wide by 35 yards long. The food plot was already on the property when I bought it in 1999. I planted it myself for the first time in 2000 with just clover and have tried some different seeds since. I have had very good success with WI Winter Greens for years till this demon weed showed up. About 4-5 years ago this weed appeared for the first time but just a few plants. I thought I had pulled them all out but the next year there were more. It was to the point where there were too many to yank so I let them go. Big mistake! Now for the last 2 years they grow so thick that they crowd out and canopy whatever I grow. Last fall I planted a high dollar clover seed and it was going good till late July when this weed starts to appear. Now I've considered mowing or weed whacking but I don't want to kill what I've planted. I'm ready to nuke this entire plot and start over. Do you have any suggestions? Here is a couple pics I took the second week of October and you can see that it is still flowering. Now if I could just get the deer to like it
  13. I'll post some pics later today in the food plot room. See what you think.
  14. A big pat on the back from me! Way to go!
  15. Looks like someone did the right thing. I don't have all the details yet but the older gentleman has his guns back. I will know more later. Thanks everyone.
  16. Is it mud or poop? Probably some stupid kids who have no clue about the flags.
  17. Good for you! Savor every moment.
  18. If you do facebook look up, Sackets Harbor Vigilantes. That is my first love of summer. When I'm not shootin I'm fishing with my kids.
  19. If your plot is in a dry spot that is prone to drought, be sure to put in chickory for it is the most drought resisitant. If you go with clover, be sure to get a white clover. I like jumbo ladino.
