  1. Congrats! Be sure to post some pics!
  2. I remember those days. I hunt near Hamilton and the turkeys were almost a nuisance during deer season. And now that you mention it, I don't think any of us saw turkeys either last fall.
  3. I also use a 4 foot fence about two foot in dia. I highly recommend the wraps or mice will strip the bark and kill your trees over the winter. Learned that lesson the hard way.
  4. Looks like one buck will be a real dandy. Thanks for sharing Matt.
  5. Thanks Burmjohn. Unfortunately there is nothing listed in any catagory for Jefferson County. Are there any other web sites out there that list these.
  6. I'm going to take my daughter to get her hunter safety and bow hunter course this summer. I know there is a website out there that lists all of the courses by county but I cannot find it. Does anyone have the link bookmarked on their computer?
  7. Howdy Rick! And I live just south of you in Pierrepont Manor. Glad to see that you are getting your boy involved in bowhunting. I just wish we had more archery shops in our area.
  8. You are just north of me. I've heard from a friend in Antwerp that there are good bird populations up there. I may have to come investigate.
  9. Hunting is very slow where I hunt. Only the second time ever that I hunted all day without hearing at least 1 gobble. Plus I don't hear any shots from neighboring properties.
  10. I turkey hunt in central Madison County and the birds are just not there like they used to be. My opening day was the first Saturday and I hunted till 11am and never heard a single gobble. Plus I heard only 1 shot from neighboring hills that morning. From what I see, between the coyotes and coons they are doing a real number on the birds in our area.
  11. Thompson Centers are expensive but their warantee is the best in the business. About 4 years ago my dad double loaded his T/C that I bought for him in 1985 and ruined the barrel. T/C said no problem gave him $400 for a new gun over 20 years after purchase.
  12. Not sure how far you are from DeRuyter NY but Countryside Hardware is one of the biggest suppliers of maple tapping equipment in NYS.
  13. I make my own wine and I make several just for venison. There are so many choices out there for a good store bought wine to go with venison. Ask your clerk for an Argentine or Chilean carmenere' (pronounced car-men-yare) in your price range. If they don't have a carmenere' then ask for a malbec. Both excellent red wines for venison and from one of the best regions for red wines.
  14. Guess I'm not a hunter either. Looks like just a bowl of meat to me also......Duuuuuh!!! Grow up.
  15. Everything but bear for me. I have yet to see one while hunting.
  16. I have yet to see a Stealth Cam that works properly. My cousins eats batteries so bad that he bought a solar charger and wired it directly to the cam. Good luck with your next choice
  17. Im with Fletch on this one. Let the weeds grow and when manicured lawns turn brown in the summer, mine is always green.
  18. It's better than watching "Chasing Tail"
  19. Good to hear! i was concidering them for my young son and durability was a key factor.
  20. Im on there as Saint Hubert. I go there if I need to find out some info on a new product. I really enjoy the video from the ATA Show, makes me feel like I'm there. When I need a good laugh I go to Mutantville.
