Looking for some lost guns near Sackets Harbor
RangerClay replied to RangerClay's topic in General Chit Chat
Thanks! I believe he is. I also want to add these guns were at the upper rifle range. -
This past weekend 5/26 our local group of cowboy action shooters had our monthly match at the Sackets Harbor Sportsman's Club. One of our shooters had a senior moment. He decided to go home after lunch and accidently left his guns in the rack. Needless to say, they were not there when he returned that night. If anyone was at the Sackets Harbor Sportsmans Club on Saturday 5/26 and saw something or if you hear of something, please let me know. There were 2 guns. One was an Uberti .45LC lever action rifle and the other was a pump 1897 shotgun. Thank you.

For an extra $10, I use these to ratchet my stands to the tree. Much, much easier to use than the ratchet straps they give you and if you choose quality rope, they last a long time. http://www.lowes.com/pd_54992-72607-10020_4294934403__?productId=3658424&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo=

I have a small plot in the middle of some woods. You will need a few hours of direct sunlight if you want anything significant to grow there. My plot runs north-south and the south end does not grow well because it is shaded.

I've never used a sigle pin myself, but my buddy has one. It's a Tru Glow and it has the brightest pin I have ever seen on a bow sight in my life. As for a rest, I have a QAD Ultra Rest HD and I have no plans to get rid of it. It's a great rest.

Mmmmmm perogies! Looks good! I hope to get some work done on my plot this weekend.

You are bringing back fond memories. My first born arrived on the opening day of northern rifle season. I had a friend drive up to hunting camp to tell my father that he was a grand dad. From what I am told, it was a hell of a party. In fact we gave her the middle name, Autumn because there were peak leaves outside that day. My deer season was far from ruined. I managed to fill the freezer in the southern tier that fall. So enjoy every moment. Is this your first child?

I've had some great stuff made by Uber Leather over the years but they went belly up. I hear tell that they will re-open under a new name soon. http://www.leathermag.com/features/featureuber-tanning-reopen-as-century-leather-products/

I havested one in the fall about 3 years ago just to have the 5-6" beard for a trophy. Would never take one in the spring.

Sweeeeeet buck!

I usually bow hunt for turkeys in the fall. I've tried a few different heads but I really like the NAP Gobbler Getters because the birds almost never run off.

I have yet to find a mech. broadhead that can out perform Tricks. I use 100 grain Slick Trick Mags. But if you are set on Mech's then take a look at the Nuke. http://www.slicktrick.net/

Back in 1995 I bought a Simmons Pro Point red dot scope when the technology was new. Paid $240 for it back then. I had it on my 30-30 for a number of years then took it off for a scope. Just for grins and giggles I stuck that thing on my turkey gun to give it a try. It is awesome. I will never go back to just a plain barrel bead again. And yes, as Elmo mentioned, you can adjust the brightness for low light shooting.

I have had good luck with these and turkey meat. My kids ate them up in Cookie Monster style. http://www.himtnjerky.com/jerky-specialty.html This is what I'm going to try with my next bird. http://www.himtnjerky.com/sausage-spicyapple.html

I got a new piece of woods to bowhunt this fall. I scouted it last year during s. tier gun season. It was chuck full of bucks. It is a little hallow surrounded by some homes. The bucks are using it as a sanctuary. I havn't been this excited in years. I teach, so as soon as school is out, my kids and I will be setting up treestands and putting up cameras. On my own property I will plant my food plot again. This year I'm going to try a blend of barrasicas. My only concern is this new weed that has taken over my plot the last 3 years and chokes out my plot. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have got her signed up for a bow safety course in July near Pulaski. Now I just have to find a hunter safety course.

Look for a used Diamond Razors Edge. They are very adjustable and will be in your price range. -

He is located in Burrville and I'll let you figure that out the rest for yourself. The unfortunate thing is we only have two pro shops in all of northeast NY (not including the box stores) You may want to try Ferari's in Carthage or drive up north to Northwoods in Potsdam. But that is up to you. I'm going to take a look at a shop near Pulaski called Ed's and see what that is like.

This is what I would do. But nothing is totally secure.

I don't think that closing season for just 1 year will help. Maybe closing just the fall season perhaps. When I was a kid there was only a spring season. Does anyone know what percentage of the fall kill is in relation to the total year kill? How about a tom's only fall season to protect the hens? I would support that.

There is a mistake I will never make again.
