I use the .348 gr. Powerbelts with good success.

Coyotes have decimated our flocks around central Madison County. The hill we hunt used to be covered with turkeys and now they they are all but gone. I never had a single bird answer me on opening day last year. 10 years ago the 4 of us would tag out but those days are gone.

Hey if you get a chance today check out page 22 of the latest issue of NY Outdoor News. My 7 year old boy Nathan got his picture in the paper with a trout he caught last summer.

Here is where our taxes go for Education

No..its not. But you go ahead and continue to spew your verbal diarrea. Most of the people here have enough commom sense to see you for who you really are. -
At one time you had to pay the big bucks for quality bows but that isn't the case anymore. My buddy got a Bear Charge package. It needed a little fine tuning but it was a great bow for the money.

First off most teachers have to wait 30 years before they can get full retirement, not 20. You are mis-informed. Second you are using Long Island salaries as a reference. That is far from true here in northern NY and most of the state. Most teachers up here will retire at the same salary as a first year Long Island teacher. This 2 million dollars in benefits is total BS. Third, I have met a bunch of teachers who all flock to your area because the very higher salaries. But they all come back home because they cannot afford to live there. Your cost of living in that region is out of control. You say you have no money because of your school taxes. I believe it is everything else around you. Last I heard, its $8 for a Big Mac. Lastly I hear someone who thinks they know it all and how to fix it. Try spending a week or two as a teacher and see if you are still singing the same tune. -

I love this quote.... "Modern cynics and skeptics, see no harm in paying those to whom they entrust the minds of their children a smaller wage than is paid to whom they entrust the care of their plumbing." John F. Kennedy -
Way to go!!

A friend of mine on Pillar Point had 9 deer in his yard. Of the 9 deer, 4 of them were bucks with scabs on their head. Now another friend has a picture on his trail cam from 2/28 and it had two bucks with horns in the picture.

Great advice there! If I'm hunting a field I use Cherokee decoys. When set-up they look so life like and don't break the wallet. For the life of me I cannot conceive how people will drop a $100 bill for a turkey decoy.

Congratulations!! Now that you have your trophy you can start shooting 5 spot.

I used to use a WB but it messed up my fletchings. I also wanted zero arrow contact for league night. I switched to a QAD Ultra Rest HD and I have never looked back. I did have a small problem with my new Hoyt. When the rest dropped down it would slap my riser and make noise. Some rubber padding underneath fixed that.

Amen! Well said!!

Mathews Mission Venture vs. BowTech's Assassin R.A.K.
RangerClay replied to crappyice's topic in Bow Hunting
I owned a mission bow for 3 years before I got my Hoyt. It was a great shooter but it was a little loud with vibration. Before you buy a Bowtech go to Archery Talk and do a search on BowTech warantee issues. There are a lot of unhappy people, and a mean a lot!! -
Have you tried patterning with different loads? Turkey loads are no different than patterning slugs. When I bought my HS Undertaker tube I tried 3-4 different brands through it. Each one was different. I found that Winchester copper plated #4's were extremely tight at 40 yards. If I have to shoot out past that....well....then I guess I need to work on my calling skills.

The latest I have ever seen horns on a buck was Feb. 7th. It was a little 6 point in a corn field.

Here is one that happened to me last Saturday. I saw a deer cross the road and decided to put a sneak on it. When I got there I watched 2 button bucks locking nubs and fighting over a doe. I had to laugh out loud.

Wow! Glad no one was hurt.

That really sucks!! Hope they catch the anti's that did this.

I got this 8 pointer on Sunday morning in 7M near North Brookfield.

Share Your Pics and Stories From Opening Day Weekend
RangerClay replied to 88GW's topic in Deer Hunting
We were hunting near North Brookfield in 7M. It was the quietest opening day that I can remember. Hardly any shooting at all around us. Not one person in our group got a deer opening day. It was the first time ever. On Sunday things changed. My Godson got a huge doe and this dandy 8 pointer came up to me. -
How many deer have you shot & not recovered?
RangerClay replied to nybuckboy's topic in Deer Hunting
30 years this year. 1 with a bow and 2 with a gun. -
Buddy got a nice buck near Gouverneur. The thing was covered with ticks and keds. We both got several on us while loading it on the truck. I don't even hunt from the ground anymore if the temps go above 40 degrees or I will have them crawling all over me.
