Swamp_bucks

They've been all over the area lately. I saw my first one this year and a bunch of other people have been seeing them in and around this part of chenango county also. He is a big cat.

I'll second it. I've got to know him well over the last year and had some hunts together he is a good guy.

I will say that once I started doing this I've encountered more bucks and bigger bucks. I still have a hard time pin pointing an exact bed and when to keep walking or hold up and put a stand up but I can seem to get a lot better idea where they are. I dont think this works for everyone or every property. I think it's great for really pressured public land or private land. I think if a property doesnt get a ton of pressure you dont have to be anywhere near that aggressive. Just a different style of hunting like all the others. I enjoy it since it feels like a chess match. I've screwed up more than anything but I feel like I'm in position more to take a deer. Actually going today to check out a swamp that has held big deer in the past to see if I can figure out how to hunt it and where the beds are.

Im not an expert but a big question is where are they bedding? They might be bedding in that horse pasture and are leaving because when the grass dies off and isn't as tall and thick they dont feel as safe and that's why they move off. If you mow it you might change it for the worse if it's the only bedding available.

Uncles name wasn't on that list. I went to see what picture they had of him and it's the same one my dad has next to his flag. I'll forward the link to my FIL maybe he knows some of the names.

I need to start hiking and walking more along with pushups and sit ups. Also fell back on eating to much bread and soda so I'm trying to stop those also. Last deer season reminded me with my newer style of hunting I need to be in better shape before the season comes around.

THP, I do really enjoy listening to the Lone Wolf custom gear podcast. With andre and cody Dacquitos. I just got into listening to podcasts. I play them while I'm working in the garage.

Going for a shed/scouting hike in the morning. Just hoping snows melted some more on that hill went there last week and it was still knee deep.

Place went to a place called brick yard pub & bbq. My beer of choice today is Smells like buffalo. I highly recommend it if you come out this way.

We are staying in lewiston( I think that's the town) right on the river at the Niagra Crossing Hotel and Spa.

Trip is going well. Falls were fun cold but fun. We went and gambled a little bit. We've ate a ton of great food. We went to cabelas which was great and wife let me pic up a vortex crossfire 8x42 binos so I know longer have to use my crappy walmart ones. Thought it was a good deal 140 for the binos and it came with the chest carrier and neck carrier. Went and walked around the mall next to cabelas and my wife got a bunch of clothes. Going to some bbq joint just down the road from the hotel for dinner tonight. Made an ass out of ourselves as usual. It's been a blast. Be home tomorrow afternoon but it was a needed get away and it's been very relaxing. No other pictures my wife is the picture taker out of the 2 of us.

Well damn might as well cancel figured I had to trick my wife to go out that way so I could partake. Oh well maybe next time. Lol

We plan on taking kids there this year since it's not to fat from us. I'll make sure I bring some butter. Lol

40mins north of Binghamton so just about as center of the state as possible. Shes already booked the hotel so Niagara this time and maybe one of the other places later this year or next year.

Sent the wife your opinions looks like we are going to Niagara falls for a day trip/weekend to ourselves. I've never been so it will be fun. Sure we can find something to do.

Me and the wife are looking to get away for the weekend. I know theres not much to do with snow on the ground. We thought about wine tours but I drink maybe 12 beers in a year. Thinking of just going to turning stone. Looking anywhere in upstate NY, somewhere maybe in PA. NYC doesn't interest me at all. I'm open to all ideas.

Well limbs arrows and stuff to pad the shelf is in. Just waiting on the riser apparently they are on back order. So hopefully it wont be much longer.
