Seems like blood is thicker then water in the Robertson clan. Hope A&E didn't expect anything different from them. They've made it without A&E and will continue to make it without them.

Anyone have a problem with this post.

So there's a transformation from hunter to killer? Hmmmmmmmmmm..... IMO no hunter needs to justify killing a fawn. Last I checked they are still a deer and legal to kill. The self righteous police need to stop policing and actually read the rules and regulations first. BTW I haven't shot a doe in many years, by choice. I've had DMP permits, I just chose not to fill them. Once again my choice!! First-light I'm not slamming you, just using your post as my premise. -

Years ago I was talking with Peter Fiduccia and we were talking about a similar situation. He told me " it's better to educate then irritate" which is so true. As hunters we have a responsibility to show/have both respect and compassion for the animals we hunt. It starts with us!! -

Bottom line is that " you can't fix stupid " !! Both the comment and the pic are tasteless. Obviously there is no respect given to the animals he/she killed. People, you noticed I didn't say hunters, like this just don't get it!!! -
I've been using Triple 7 for a couple of years now along with 245gr Power Belts. I shoot a good 1.5" group at 100 yards with this combo. BTW I use 100 gr of powder. I've been reading reports on White Hots and have been thinking of switching. Has anyone had any experience with using the WH? What have your findings been with performance and ease of cleaning as they claim? If you switched was there a considerable difference that made you switch or was it minimal? Thanks in advance for your input.

3,000 deer on LI in federal sharpshooters' sights this winter
letinmfly replied to the blur's topic in Deer Hunting
I don't deer hunt on LI but I did bowhunt in CT for years. What I found in CT is that quite a few landowners were open to the hunting however they were afraid of what the non-hunting neighbors would say or think of them. I hunted in New Canaan where most hunting was done on estates and I ran into quite a few rude people to say the least. One of the last years I hunted up there the non-hunting landowners stared a website that listed the names and addys of the people that allowed hunters on their land. Needless to say a lot of hunting spots were lost due to these landowners wanting to keep face with their neighbors. It's a darn shame that these people would bow to these pieces of crap, but they did. I rambled a bit but my point is that there are quite a few people/landowners out there that would allow hunting but they choose not to because they have to live with their neighbors and would rather not rock the boat. -
Beautiful buck. Did you get him in NY?

The weather this weekend had brought my season to an abrupt end. Expecting 6-10" of snow in Sullivan county and 3-6" here at home on LI. I'll need to be home to clean up after the storm. Besides the heavy snows will keep deer movement down. Oh well...there's always next year. Good luck to all of you who will be out there!!!

Works much better when the correct facts are given. The answer is still yes...you can use it.

I missed that one. Hopefully it's a typo and if not yes I do. Then again he may be hunting Westchester county?

Didn't ask for anything this year. However, one of my uncle's, who really doesn't hunt much anymore, stopped by a couple of weeks ago and gave me his Sako Finnbear. Man was I ever moved by his gesture.

Cheeseburger soup and beer bread is the menu tonight.

Mine has been in the same tree for eight years now. I inspect it every fall before the season.

Urban legend deer situation. What would you do?
letinmfly replied to Al Bundy's topic in Deer Hunting
The laws of humanity would supersede any written laws and have me take the shot and put the deer out of its misery. It's the right thing to do. My answer is in response to the original question. However I wouldn't trespass to do it without my neighbors permission, if anyone is wondering. -

I met a hunter in a taxidermy shop a few years back that had this happen to him. He shot a big 8 pointer in Columbia county and watched the buck run off and go down in the distance. He walked directly to the deer and when he got there the deer had no antlers. Luckily there was a bit of snow on the ground and he was able to back track the buck's path and found both antlers.

Good luck with your surgery.

Unfortunately I'm off Thu and Sat this week. Thu I have an appointment and I'll be hunting in Bethel on Sat. My place is a three hour ride and a bit much for a one day hunt on Sat. The two hour ride to Bethel is much more doable, especially being that I have to be at work at 5am on Sunday.

So I hunted this past weekend on my property in Walton. The conditions were ideal with cold weather and a little snow on the ground. I hunted all day Sat and on Sun morning. Unfortunately for me I needed to get home early yesterday. Anyway, I didn't see a thing all weekend, even with ideal conditions. Move forward to today. I get a phone call from my father that his friend hunted my stand today and at 3:30 he missed a big buck. My neighbor had been seeing a big 10 on my land all summer and fall so I'm going to assume this the buck he missed. Where the heck was this buck this past weekend? Oh well... maybe he'll be that much bigger next year!!

Buddy of mine shot a big six on Saturday morning in Bethel. He said the deer were on the move all day. He sat with his son for the afternoon and they saw a real big buck but his son couldn't get a good shot.

Cold is the word here in 4O. Lots of fresh deer tracks made during the night but nothing moving.
