It is so still and so quiet here in 4O that I can hear myself blink. Lots of fresh tracks but unfortunately no deer standing in them.

Something is fishy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Antlered does are always in velvet because they don't have the hormones that cause antlers to drop. They stay in velvet and continue going through a growing cycles. Again I could be wrong but I have never seen an antlered doe with hard antler.

I believe this deer was found two years ago. The story I heard was that the guy that found it was looking for sheds of a bigger buck when he came across this one. Here's another pic of it. -

My dad stopped hunting 4 years ago do to health issues. He still comes up to the house but he stays inside anxiously waiting for one of us to come down the hill with a deer in tow. I miss meeting up with him in the woods or going to him to drag his deer out but I'm very fortunate to still have him around. Why don't you bring your dad up to the camp anyway? I'm sure you'll both appreciate it!!

This morning was the first time I've been at a high school football game since I played back in the day. Took a ride out to Mount Sinai to watch my nephew play. He's the starting center for the Mt. Sinai Mustangs JV team. They played and beat Kings Park 9-6. It was a lot fun and it brought back a lot of memories of a much younger me. It was great to see these youngsters competing and having fun on the field. All in all it was a real good day!!

Two different bucks. Look at the difference of the left main beam in the two. One has an upsweep at the end of the beam.

According to the news tonight we now produce more oil then Saudi Arabia. Gas prices are expected to drop another 20 cents over the next three weeks. They showed the price in a MI town and it was $2.55 a gallon for regular. I hope we see those prices once again some day.
