  1. That second one -buck? Kinda looks like a horn sticking up if zoom in but hard to tell. Gotta figure still in bachelor groups so prob another buck.
  2. Spots that we planted that had got so much rain are coming back. Corey snapped some pics while he was over there on that side today.
  3. I'm changing up my strategy for this season. Since I've lost my best spot I'm expecting to get one deer and not three. Lol. So I am going to take all my grind and make that into venison bacon burgers to seal up in packs. Will use 3lbs of bacon emds and pieces to 10 lbs of ground. It comes out great and is my favorite for burgers. I have a bunch of sausage spices and I actually prefer just pork in sausage anyway. So this winter right after deer season I am going to make my own apple breakfast, moonshine breakfast (spices from Walton's) and then make some rope jalepeno and cracked pepper. If you make jalepeno add in a 1/2 bottle of green Tabasco. It gives it a great jalepeno flavor without being too hot.
  4. This was just smoked sausage with Amish smoked sausage spices. I did also make a batch of cracked pepper and jalapeno too last fall. And that was my favorite of the year.
  5. Finished hunting prep today. Groundblind is up and I seeded the cut area with some throw and grow mix to see if we can sweeten up the spot a little by season. Put up a camera out there too Corey cleaned out the poison ivy at CSS and did a little cleanup cutting with the cutter. Should be good to go now for season. Hopefully Corey and I can even fish a day next weekend. Haven't been out in a month. But feels good to get it all done.
  6. Looking great Grampy. I'm sure it felt good to get a little woods time
  7. She used to be on here and always cleared out her trails like that. Older members all remember her.
  8. Lol. I sealed and froze them. It a good lunch to slice those up with some cheese and crackers in between the am and pm sits. Plus I will make a smoked sausage and cannelli bean soup this fall. But....a couple of pieces never made the freezer. Lol
  9. Happy birthday. Hope it's a great day. @ANTLERS
  10. I wouldn't confront anyone at all. If it's the landowners and your decision that no one is to be on it but you, it seems black and white to me. If your going to post it then throw in a few no atv signs in obvious areas. They will prob see the signs and then realize they shouldn't be on there. IF they decide to then trespass only then do you have to take it further. And by further I would call the sherriff Dept. But give them the benefit of the doubt that they will abide by the new postings. If they don't they weren't going to anyway and your just wasting your time with a face to face. You don't have to explain to the neighbors why you post your own land. If they don't stay off then take legal actions. Chances are they will get the hint with the hard postings and not want their kid to take the risk. But realize if you let one ride your telling anyone they can ride there. Best to just set the line, post the property and field the issues if they occur.
  11. Not a magazine but how bout the lane walker books on hunting and fishing? https://lanewalkerbooks.com/products/hometown-hunters-full-collection
  12. Smoked some sausage for hunting season lunches.
  13. Too rainy for outdoor sports this morn but still up early so breakfast it is. Strawberry french toast and little smokies.
  14. Happy birthday hope it's a great day. @fasteddie
  15. Quick recovery hopefully for all of you. Think we are going to hear more of this for a bit. Esp after school starts.
  16. Spent 5-1/2 hours cutting shooting lanes, trimming stands, replacing straps. Got 4 of them done. Everything grew in so bad this year with all the humid days. But we are getting there. Just have to put up ground blind and finish trimming one stand, hopefully tomorrow. Had to quit today I cut so much brush my hands were cramping. But got scrapetree, point, wayback and Littlefield done. Our little kill plots look ok but lots of grass grew back in. The night of 6 inches of rain didn't help much. But can still see some of our mixes growing in there. Hoping to finish a couple of things tomorrow. One other stand to trim CSS but that is gonna be for Corey. It is covered in poison ivy. And he seems to be able to get thru it pretty good. I would pay for it for sure. Lol. Getting juiced for season. Lost my other spot to hunt but really looking forward to focus on hunting here this year.
  17. Great tribute Jay. Your brother sounds like a guy I would have loved to spend a day fishing with. I always said when I pass I hope I find myself walking a trout stream and my Dad sitting along it sitting on a boulder with a creel of trout tails sticking out of it waiting for me. Sounds like he was a great guy and another good person in your family.
  18. That is so awesome. Seems weird to be able to hunt so soon. Sure hope you do start stocking the freezer then play for a buck. I really was shocked they didn't include 7j and 7f as they gave out the most doe permits. Wish it was but guess I will have to be on the sidelines for now.
  19. Happy Birthday. Just turned 50 myself this year . But I of course make it look good. Lol What bothered me the most about being 50 is that old folks home they just built 1/8 of a mile away has a sign out front. 50+ welcome. Yeah I'm gonna baseball bat that thing! Have a great day buddy. Sept trout today?
  20. Not enough people have access to it. It's only like 8 dmu's. Plus it's already 12 weeks to keep track of. Lol. Don't want to confuse myself too much. Also left out the late muzzle so we could end it by Xmas.
  21. The place I used to hunt was a lot like that. Had thin rows of trees between fields. Look for the trials they use thru those woods to get from field to field and setup 20 yards to the downwind side of them. Set stand in far enough that you can shoot into the field edge but enough inside the woods that you can sneak in if deer are in the field without spooking them for those am hunts. Awesome getting new dirt. Good luck.
