  1. bow is def not easier in a treestand. I set my xbow on the shooting rail and when a deer comes thru all i have to do is take off the safety. And also that makes no sense saying its more likely to hit a limb - if you have branches that close to you in the stand you need to trim them for both either way. I need to practice every year with my bow. The xbow is one shot and out the door to be sure the scope is still on point. That alone shows its easier to use. It amazes me how anyone can think a compound or traditional is the same as shooting a xbow. Its like they never used one. Ive helped people get into bow and xbow many times. Xbow i can teach them in under 5 minutes and its bullseyes at 40, bow takes weeks of practice to get a good anchor and form and eye for it. Can someone get a bow setup and hit the target - sure - consistancy usually requires some practice. Only thing i can think of thats easier with a bow is getting off a second shot. so analogy here - whats easier - shooting a scoped 30-06 or shooting an open site 30-06 that is pulling 6-10#s of pressure on it.
  2. they are already talking about scaling it back to 13 days like it was before. 18 was too much , a lot of major vendors didnt even go. Attendance was certainly down due to covid of course.
  3. The one decent spot I have in the dacks is a line of beechnut trees. So I generally hunt that. Found it while trout fishing years ago. I'm hoping it has some fruit to bear this year. But haven't been up to check it. Sounds like you have a real good grasp of where to start looking. Much better than me. But I echo those beech trees. I have seen apples in the southern area of the dacks where I hunt but they are generally gone soon after season starts.
  4. Small world. Camden class of '89 here. Great little town.
  5. Welcome in! Hope to see pics of your Dacks deer down! I passed on a 3 point last year the one day i hunted in the Dacks. In hindsight i should have shot it. Any buck from the Dacks is a trophy and it was such a nice day of still hunting. Well maybe this year he will be a bit bigger! I plan on being up there for at least one day again this season.
  6. Easy during the rut? Maybe on Gman property. Lol. 2019 I went 61 hunts and never filled a tag. If it was easy everyone would do it. Honestly if it was that easy I probably wouldn't do it. It's the challenge that I like. Gotta look at it as most people don't have a private 500 acres.
  7. i use mine a lot but dont range the deer just trees or spots near the stand. Always gives me a good base
  8. prob one of the best things for bow hunting accuracy was the invention of the range finder. Not a upgrade for the bow itself but def helped the bow hunters esp.
  9. it was actually disturbing - the wife made a terrible shot on a buck on one show and they never found it, then saw it a few days later in rifle struggling and finished it off with a rifle. And ive seen him take shots at quartering too deer at like 60 yards. and make a bad shot hitting it back. Ive watched like 5 shows and 3 of them were shots they never should have taken. Maybe overconfidence for them but they had terrible judgement.
  10. i used to live on 365 In Holland Patent. it was cool that southern zone was behind the house and Northern across the street. Also if you guys trout fish - the flow below the hinckley dam used to hold some nice trout! Havent fished there in a while now.
  11. my best ever buck - Quadruple brow tines one side, double brows on the other with 3 crazy little extra points.
  12. not a big fan of his hunting show. He and his wife take and make some of the worst shots on animals i have ever seen on a hunting show.
  13. Great pic ! If you build it they will come....looks like the spot to be. Good luck. And yes you can shoot bucks then!
  14. "its pointless for a human being to paint scenes of nature when they can go outside and stand in it" - Ron Swanson

  15. ive tried the cover sprays and as others not much faith in them. i will use them on my boots though. I do like my ozone bag. I treat my clothes in it before each hunt and it takes 5 minutes. Im a big fan of that. Lure sprays i generally will put out a couple of drippers and i seem to get a lot of pics of them checking them out. Do i know for sure it brings them in... nah. But if they smell that when they come in maybe it takes away them noticing the fat guy in the tree for a minute.
  16. where i come from he has enough horns for 2 bucks though! nice deer, hope you get a shot at him!
  17. there is def nothing better than the common sense! which you def have. Wish so many more people did. If only that could be bottled and sold!
  18. Deer seem attracted to it ----- can see it hanging in the tree. Might be it works , but also could just be the licking branch alone but this gets a lot of action when we have one hanging there
  19. I am going to put up two scent drippers late October on high branches above a couple of active scrapes. Usually get a ton of action at one of them. Deer stand on their hind legs to check it out. Also a well used licking branch there. It seems to help and for a couple of dollars worth a try.
  20. But can he get it to me in 48 hours for $12.00......
  21. Who wouldve thought.....not you if your over 40, your Dad or your grandfather for sure. I just ordered Doe pee online and will have it delivered to my house in under 48 hours. Lol. This cracked me up.
  22. Great buck Jerry. Hope to see more pics of you and him posing together
  23. By the blind it's hayed by a farmer so didn't plant anything there. But he just cut it so I threw a bag of throw and grow ryegrass, rape and clover out there for the heck of it. Next year might seed that corner s little bit more. But we def have some radish in by two of our stands. Hoping big Sixy makes an appearance for one of us. Excited for the season.
