Right, a good problem to have if it happens. Good luck.

Pretty sure you can only transfer to someone else that has also won a tag. And if she won the tag she has to be there but the sub-permittee doesn't have to. And either one can shoot the moose but the sub permittee has to be with the tag holder if they shoot it.

This just means if a #8 unit tag is still open you would get it. Otherwise it could be anywhere in the state. I pick all top 10 units with the best tag fill percentage and put no for the other districts. Some of them are like 30% success rate. I also put in for just the first two seasons as the third one mostly takes place on the southern end of the state. And I put in for a cow or bull as I would be good with that . Like Tacks said an adventure and a freezer full of moose!

Vaccination

A lot of places are also finding that the no shows are people that were double booked. They booked for a place and then found another that was doing it sooner. And then they didn't cancel. People shouldn't do this but a lot of people esp seniors want to feel like they can see family and get out again when they have been afraid to for a year. So they take the first one open. -
Vaccination

Yeah and that might even be moved up as production is also ramping up. I think they will still be available though. Cant see them not letting people get it if they want to. And its not set in stone that you only need it once esp with the variants. They have even been talking about a booster. Although the numbers are decreasing it should still be avaialble for a long time. Like many other vaccines. -

Advice on what you would do, for this coming hunting season
Robhuntandfish replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
I would say spend the spring and summer scouting. Look at some local places and knock on some local doors and see if some private land can be avail. And then start picking a piece of stateland every weekend and take a hike thru it. The tough part about state land is you really dont know how many or where it is being hunted until hunting season actually starts. Then you will see how many people are there and if its overrun or underused. There is def a certain challenge and reward to bagging a state land buck. Much like bagging an adirondack buck. I almost shot a 3 point last year just cause it was an adironadack state land buck and thats a win in itself and wish i did now. I always ask private land owners about bow hunting only cause they are much more comfortable with that, then it might work into Muzzleloader and eventually gun. I wouldnt rule out any of it. Keep looking for it all and make it a goal over the spring and summer to have hiked each one of those state lands and cross them off your list as you go. Then get on google maps and an app like huntstand and pick out 5 -10 private places to ask locally about hunting. it is def tough finding new spots these days. I have been trying to add one to my list for a few months now without much luck but i am lucky to have a main hunting area available to me. Good luck -
no traffic light makes me want to go there more. Good luck on the gobbler. Love the Indian lake area. Chimney Mtn and Kings Flow is just an incredible spot. Used to get a cabin there for a long weekend every year

Vaccination
Robhuntandfish replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
was talking about this the other day - dont know anyone that has gotten a regular cold all year. So either the masks and the disinfecting and the social distancing work for colds and flu or the covid test actually tests postive if someone has the cold or flu as well. -
ive slept in the truck after fishing before. We had the bright idea to leave after work for the St lawrence and fish all night then drive back. But slept in the truck for a couple of hours so I could make the drive home. But might do this if I got a maine moose permit. At least for a day or two. Depending on the area i got permit for and what might be available etc. If it was far on a back road area and no place to stay local i would prob sleep in the truck before i slept on the ground in a tent. otherwise i would rather find a spot within an hour and get a good sleep in.

Forum inspired dinner. Imitation crab (from the Tacks seafood empire) over ciabatta rolls and bionic potato topper.

I wonder if it can work in reverse and the car be used like a generator to power the house if the power is out ....hmmmm. that would be handy.

Fill the overflow to normal as well. Also turn the interior heat on. Might take care of it. But if it's just low might just need a top off and be fine.

I just assumed you took those as well as the backstraps.....
