weve had some great weather for the last couple of weeks. Hoping its a good fall - last year was a rainy bow season. Forecast for the opener here is 78 degrees and pm showers. But opening day and first couple of weeks are always too warm.

I can usually bull them up into the truck. As my truck isn't that high. But if I get a big one I have a couple of larger ratchet straps just for that. If I ratchet one side up can flop the rest of the deer in. Was just thinking the bottom of a ladder stand might work well. I have a few 9 fts and have a leftover ladder I didn't use. Might work well to tie deer to it. Get one end on the tailgate them lift and slide it up. Might try this

Got out to shoot the crossbow today. Glad I did it was off for sure. Was shooting low and left. Dead on now after some tweaking. Last time I used it was when I shot my best buck ever and then dragged it out in the dark and snow for a mile. Certainly could have bumped it. But good to go now. Shots at 30 and 40

Where the red fern grows is the movie that makes dudes cry! But yes also my pick for hunting movie. Fishing movie is Grumpy old Men. And jaws is one of my top 5 movies all time.

By the looks of the preseason trail cam pic thread a lot of people have some big ones in mind. Best I have seen is a decent 8 on cam so far. Just drove by lease before dark and 6 houses down in someone's backyard saw a decent buck trotting behind a doe.

Wow 5 tags filled. Do u usually get that many? That's a hell of a year.

I know we all say to have fun and be safe. But as far as taking deer what do you expect or try for? I always say I WILL take at least one deer be it buck or doe for the freezer. But I always hope to take an early doe and then a buck 5 points or over. If I get that early doe or two, I will try to make it a 7 point or better. Unless something makes me think to take a certain buck. Once gun starts I am much less picky unless I already have 3 in the freezer then I won't shoot anything but a nice buck. So I guess my expectations are one deer in the freezer and an opportunity at a buck of 5 points or better.

It was good. Sweet and smoky. Thinking a pork loin on the smoker with this would be good.

Really have seen it twice. The first bow buck I ever shot was a 7 point. On the way to the stand I kicked up a 5 point. The seven came thru and I shot him 5 minutes later. Then within 30 minutes the 5 came back and a 4 and a spike on a hot doe. Crazy morning. Then two years ago I was on the lease and for 2 days I saw every deer around that property. Watched an 8 chase a 4 and heard a snort weeze for the first time. Deer everywhere and never got a shot. Told my buddy and he hunted there the next day and saw nothing.

Another card pull in 6S and again not a buck on cam.... Owner said though there is two 8 pointers around he's seen. So that's a good sign. Late planting of corn didn't take off too well but there are baby corns.

I would add 25. Or I always do anyway. Peep and loop are both about 12 each I believe.
