  1. i know right.... one time i took a stick and sharpened it and poked stuff with it.......phht .... this carving stuff is simple.
  2. just need a couple Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders in there and an open bar! you might not come back...
  3. good luck ! You got this! About 10 years ago i made the same commitment and lost 112 pounds. I decided i was going to lose weight and pay off all debt. I did both! I got a second job and worked out a lot etc. I have since, over 10 years, gained about 50 of it back and am back on the wagon. But 10 years was a pretty good span! To lose the weight i picked one day to eat what i wanted for one meal at the least - friday night could have whatever i wanted for the most part. Weekends i always still had breakfast as well but no bread/pancakes - i would have an omelette/ eggs/ meat. But regularly during the week i had coffee and not much else for breakfast ( i also get up at 4 am for work so usually not hungry anyway), lunch I would have a bowl of cereal like raisin bran or a tuna wrap or two boiled eggs. Dinner - 2 times a week i would have soup and 2 times a week a buffalo chicken salad or a piece of venison and vegetables - no taters or pasta. And i would have dinner as early as possible - by 5 pm. If i wanted a snack it was popcorn or pretzels and mustard. Drink lots of water. And i ate an apple everyday as well. I walk and work out all i could. Every chance i could. Workout time was set from 6-7 every night. I would break it up with walking, stationary bike, lifting weights, tai chi, situps, etc. Do something different everyday. After about 2 months it was a habit and i was on it. And if i didnt lose weight i got pissed and worked out harder! lol Back on the wagon myself and have lost 7 pounds since in 10 days! you got this and you will feel much better i know i sure did. And at your age you will lose it quickly, esp at first. After a while it gets tougher to lose weight but you will feel better and want to do more too. Lots of brisk walks! I used to lift a dumbell at the office while on the phone, took a break and did a walk etc. Always find time to do a little when you can. And instead of looking at food as a treat look at it as you deserve to be in good shape! good luck - cheering for you!
  4. This was from Chrisw last year. It took over an hour. "I use 4lbs ground venison, 1 lb pork (any kind of pork will work, even fatty beef will work), 3 jalapenos diced (remove most seeds unless you want real hot). A bag of shredded or small cubed cheese (any flavor you want). Then I buy a package of LEM snack stick seasoning (which does 5lbs). Just grind everything and mix it well, following the package instructions. I use 19mm collagen casings and fill them with a jerky shooter, then just put them on a baking sheet in the oven at 200° and let them cook until the internal temp hits 165°, you just want to slowly bring the temp to 165° so don't try to cook them too fast. It's even better if you have a smoker to cook them in. That's it! Pretty easy, you can tweak the recipe any way you like. Good luck"
  5. I had one burst from the casing. Happens sometimes. Plus I added a little too much BBQ sauce this year. Lol. Rest came out great. I got recipe from Chris on this site. 200 degrees in oven til sticks are 165 inside.
  6. What Moog said for the casings. Just push as much of them over the tube attachment and be sure they fill up with out air. Try a couple and you will get the hang of it. For the snack sticks I buy casings from Walton's. 19mm smoke collagen and they work great. I fill them about the length of the pan ,Then cut after cooking. Check out Walton's online , lots of good stuff there. But I buy my sausage casings at the local supermarket, they come from Syracuse casing, and then I get spices from the Amish store. On the bottom of container it even tells you how much to add to venison etc. But I use jerky/snack stick spices from hi mountain cause it has cure as well, then usually add jalapenos or some BBQ sauce. I usually make sure they are at 165 degrees to be done. Esp since there is pork in it. For the sticks I make one pound of ground pork to 5 lbs of ground venison. For sausage I use 4 lbs of ground pork to 6 lbs of ground venison. Gives you that sausage consistency. This year made sage breakfast, apple breakfast, smoked rope sausage and sweet and spicy BBQ snack sticks. Good luck, gotta experiment a little at first.
  7. love the old barrell with it. Next one i get to do i am doing the skull in a paint dip.
  8. you just posted that because Bionic is out of town. I am telling!
  9. Happy Birthday!!!! hope its a great day! enjoy
  10. If that tastes half as good as it looks then damn!
  11. One of my favorite dishes. Venison jalapeno sausage and cheesy grits with a cornbread crumble. Yum
  12. Looks like a fun day! I was gonna go today , without dogs, for a walk around as I saw a big bunny yesterday. But ended up not going. Wind and cold kept me home doing chores instead. Congrats on the rabbit!
  13. Throw a whole chicken in some marinade overnight then in the smoker for 3 hours and finish on the grill to temp . Delicious.
  14. Prep starts already for next season. Was a real nice day out. So moved a stand for gun hunting. Have a stand (opener stand) 45 yards from here that has been a good gun stand but it is tough to sit in and faces the wrong way. And by moving this made shots by the pond from 200 to all less. Really like it and will be sitting there for the gun opener. Tucked it right in to the brush nice.
  15. Not really dinner but....pickled eggs with some cherry peppers today.
  16. I'm pretty sure he already has the t shirt for the old 69er too.
  17. That's a good price. Did some research on it a while back and in NY most places were $14 an acre and had to have insurance. Of course more in certain parts of state . I pay a lot less but it's a friend of mine. That seems like a fair deal and doubles your land for sure. And the fact it butts up to your land makes it an even better deal.
  18. I def should have. Work was killing me last summer. Nothing like being told by Fema you have 30 days to get out and need to find office space for 15 people and 30 vehicles in 30 days. Crazy. Been kicking myself for not catching up with you when u were in town for sure.
  19. Never heard of anyone eating one. Can't taste like chicken.
  20. It's not the coyote or the dark that scares me (I'm not Canadian) it's the falling in a woodchuck hole and busting my arse . And of course breaking my scope , light and phone and have to crawl out .....yeah something like that. Hell I can barely read a menu in a dark restaurant and have to order the special. Just seems like too much to go bad. Lol
  21. Made beer cheese soup tonite. Not bad. Thanks for the recipe Fletch! Topped with bacon bits and some crushed pretzels.
  22. its probably easier to steal his stuff in the dark too! good plan. lol Yeah ive been out in the boat fishing at night and it always seemed to be a cluster. Hooks and lines tangled..., where is shore..... Hell I have enough of a time getting to my stand in the dark during deer season without sounding like a wounded water buffalo. But im sure it will be a hoot with those guys no matter what, yotes or not. Prob more laughs than yotes. !
  23. you all are braver than I, i dont even like fishing in the dark - talk about hunting at night......good luck.
