i wish i had an open season here. -
yes primitive muzzleloader is flintlock but they wont go back to that, it would be muzzleloader, to also increase the deer take. There is no "have to be" designation that a muzzleloader couldnt be listed as a primitive weapon. And if they want more deer taken def agree adding xbow will do that as well as muzzleloader. And the members of NYB are also not going to be appeased with traditional archery only for the rut. Most of them arent traditional guys either. They are gonna be madder than Biz if you try to take away their $1000 Matthews toys and tell them they have to use a stick and string during the best two weeks of the year. I generally dont care too much for which season is which as i hunt them all, but i would even fight that. Its a deal breaker. I dont see them increasing muzzleloader either but there isnt enough interest in traditional to change anything to traditional only. They missed the window on that with the Oct 1-15 extension. And now once thats open to bow hunters arent going to give it up without a fight and are sure not giving up the rut.

That might be the most impressive yet Wooly. Just wow.

Got some buddies that work corrections. They said that the number one thing that stands out about people in prison is how amazingly dumb most of them are.

Closing off the rut to anything but traditional bow would def not appease most hunters. Don't see that ever happening, regs won't go back but would go forward at this point. And there isn't enough trad guys to support it. If they wanted a traditional season only they should have done that when they extended season and made it Oct 1-15. I hope none of it changes , but will hunt with whatever they allow. But def not interested in a traditional bow season only. I like the seasons exactly the way they are. I am surprised a primitive season hasn't been introduced which would include bow, Xbow or muzzleloader. But there is a lot of people fighting to protect that bow season.

I wore out my last bow but it took me 10 seasons +. At that point it needed strings and the site was getting pretty dim, stuff was getting rattly etc and it wasnt a high end bow. But they def wear more than a gun. I wouldnt buy one of either right now until we see if inclusion occurs as i would prob just use my xbow. I kinda asked myself this same question a couple of weeks ago when Parker went out of business. I had to order bolts to last me and i now have 16 - so hoping that gets me thru for many years or i might have to buy another. Guns i tend to buy until I find the one i really one that works best. My problem is i dont know til i use it some and I am not one to have any safe queens and let them sit. So i am actually putting one or two up for sale soon. As i basically only use two guns for deer and thats all i need. Also only have one shotgun for turkeys, one for waterfowl, one for small game and a .22 and only one pistol (went thru 3 before i settled) To me they are mostly tools unless some attachment of an heirloom. I am not much to chase the latest bow and am more frustrated if i had to change bows cause mine is set up and i am comfortable with it. BUt yeah i think of a bow as use it til it gets too bad of shape or has an issue then replace.

one Rob to another - Happy Birthday !

That's what I am doing this year as well. 2 shots with practice broadheads at two different targets. Gotta practice with what you hunt with. And as G-MAN said too many stripped fletchings to shoot more than one shot.
-
I would probably do the same. Hard to pass on taking out that crossbow.

And they are all 49 years old.....lol.

Never made the ball and GF had to work last night. Power went out this morn and back on. But lots of outages in the area. Last new year it was -18 here and my furnace froze up. Today it's 55 and high winds. Crazy.

Can you also sell ammo with it?
