  1. " I have hunted the four legged deer but the two legged are a lot more fun!" Hank jr.
  2. Didn't see a thing tonite but was a nice sit. Haven't taken the safety off the gun yet this season. Next weekend is big drive weekend at lease. Haven't seen a deer since opening day.
  3. Well at least it works out for you with a place to hunt to yourself. That's half the battle. It def gets tough sometimes. I gun hunt 7f where they hand out free leftover doe tags and I haven't taken the safety off the rifle yet or seen a deer since opening day. Can always look and make improvements to hunting for next year, but good luck for the rest of this year.
  4. So sorry to hear this. I spend so much time with my dog ,I can't imagine this. Sorry for your loss.
  5. So sorry to hear. Tears in my eyes reading this. I am soo close to my dog, I can't even think about it. But when I go the first thing I want to see in the afterlife is a happy pup with a wagging tail running to me. And I hope the same for you. Sorry for your loss.
  6. Headed out on swamped out lease in 7f. Ought to bring the waders but gonna try it for a bit. Landowner was out today taking boards out of the dam of a pond cause there is so much water by his house.
  7. Sounds like a good plan. It is tough to hunt and not see much. When you do get one the reward is even sweeter but tough long days with no action. Would def scout that other area. No chance of permission there? They keep it to hunt themselves? But at least u might learn travel routes better to your area. I think you were in the 3"s area? Def tough to come by land to hunt the closer to the city I am sure. But good luck. Can always work and learn more for your own areas.
  8. Maybe time to try to expand. Maybe instead of spending time scouting same spot, maybe scouting to add a new one as well? Just a thought. New dirt always gets me excited. Maybe a little Google earth by areas near you that have Ag fields. Then use an app like hunt stand to find out who owns what and knock on a door. Not that u might not get a good one where u are but might be an option. Been rooting for you , hope u have some better luck. You def are not one to give up and been putting in the time.
  9. Frittata. Ground buck, onions, peppers. Mighty taco sauce went well with this too!
  10. Good muskie fishing too! Wisconsin always interested me too.
  11. Have a ton of pics that the deer looks at cam then tail up and running pics. Happens a lot. Or have like 6 pics of them checking out cams up close then running away pic. I use a 5 second delay so I usually get a series of the same deer.
  12. Awesome the neighbors are out target practicing. 40 shots worth. That should help. Wtf
  13. Lease is 120 acres with two other guys. No woods, swamp and thick brush Permission to hunt for bow on about 60 acres all ag fields with treeline. Also late muzzle. Permission to hunt 12 acres in another spot but it's more like a 1/4 acre, rest is cow pasture. But all private and it's been productive. Have had lease for 5 years now and I have taken 5 deer off it and my buddy has gotten two .
  14. Congrats Crappie!!!! I didn't see a thing. Not even a fresh track. Gonna try other side of property this pm. Me and hunting buddy that's at work did text back and forth already making plans for next year. Lol
  15. Gonna throw some good vibes out there for the youth hunters this weekend. I don't think anyone has put a deer in the youth whitetail contest yet. So we need someone to break the ice! Samantha, team Fletch, Haley, Grampys Grandson, and all the youth hunters........good luck we are rooting for you!
  16. Congrats and a great day for your birthday. Very cool
  17. That's screaming buck down today! Karmas been on a roll lately. Jerseyed up its game day!
  18. Out in am and the Bushmaster gonna bark! Got to break it in on a deer! Sitting on pond edge where we've been seeing bucks and rubs. Gonna be a good day!
  19. me and buddy were out in 7F yesterday and the deer were def moving. He saw 5 , got a doe, missed a buck. New buck rubs in 3 different spots. I am chomping to get back out tomorrow - i will have our whole lease to myself for the day! good luck!
  20. you were expecting picks of Pygmy of course. But now you know its an actual deer!
  21. i dont do any other social media than here. And i couldnt agree more - well said .
  22. at this point i would keep it natural. If they are using it now i wouldnt change anything and just be in ambush for what comes thru.
  23. think i need to go with them higher up. Unfortunatley mine dont have the field scan mode. Def need to do something different as i know they are spooking deer. Maybe i will make some of those brackets that someone had on another thread and try them more from above than eye level. I hate not to use them they are fun.... but not as fun as seeing deer! thanks db!
