ok now I am def doing that turkey recipe - damn that has to be a winner. I have been making deep fried sweet and sour wild turkey bites but that recipe is going to happen for sure. - thanks ! And native brookies was just an amazing meal - my Dad used to cook them for breakfast at camp in bacon grease. so good.

thats a great point! I also love to cook and if you prepare it right def makes all the difference. I know a lot of people that dont hunt always are afraid to leave venison medium and cook it to death.

i love cooking and prepping wild game. When I retire would love to start a wildgame food truck. Think that would be fun. But whats your favorite wild game meal or item. For me its hard to beat a fresh caught walleye shore lunch with a beer batter. I also love venison maple breakfast sausage and just a crusted cast iron fried hunk of backstrap! I seem to eat venison steak with onions and peppers in a wrap a lot easy to make for a dinner. And have venison Jalepeno sausage and cheesy grits as one of my favorites. So whats your favorite type and style of wildgame.

last time I was in Canada - years ago --- Went to an expos/Mets game. Had a place to stay and then walked around looking for a bar and some wings. No one had a chicken wing to be found anywhere. Kept walking and found a little pub style place. They had an Irish band playing. Well this was also the day Johnny Cash passed. So by the end of the night - with a little help form us - we had the band playing Johnny Cash and we were singing with them - was a good time in a french canadian city with an Irish band singing Johnny Cash! lol and one of my buddies refused to drink any canadian beer!

I even seen the shrimp heads in some dishes. I really am not fond of fish that is served with the head on either. My food shouldnt be looking back at me

When you get wildgame who or if anyone do you share with? I always get people asking or saying ----" if you have too much i will take some". And thats usually the lazy dude that wont go out and hunt for anything but would take free steaks of course. I always share with my closest hunting buddy unless he also has a good year (he usually doesnt lol) then I always share with the landowner. I give venison to them even if I didnt get my deer on their property I always give them some and a 12 pack. (more if it was a good year on their property) One of the properties I hunt I didnt give any venison to this year cause they also got a deer (they only hunt gun there , i only hunt bow there and they said they didnt need any cause they got one). I also give some to my mother she just eats a little - a few steaks, burger. Then I usually make a big venison stew or two for the folks at work - and that goes in an hour! Then will bring up some sausage and some snack sticks for any trips with some buddies for fishing weekends etc. But the bulk of my deer take goes in the freezer to be used throughout the year. I will make a couple of crockpots of stew for the GF family to eat but she always seems to get a deer given to her every year. I also usually have a fish fry or two every year when some buddies are around. I always get at least one deer and several takes of fish. I have even had people say or gimme a guilt trip - "i never get any venison" etc ...well --" I see you maybe once a year and I really dont like you " is what I want to say - lol Id say I give away prob about a 1/4 - 1/3 of everything. I also like that my buddies or family enjoy it. I really like to make different things like sausages, snacksticks etc. I also do all of my own butchering as to me thats actually part of the enjoyment . Just curious as I know there are people that give it all away or people that give none away.

Finally got the gun tonite. Funny I heard that Herb phillipsons got its FFL back today from where I first ordered gun and I get a call today from bass pro that my gun was in there. I already paid at bass pro and had ammo ordered so picked it up. Gonna sight it in this weekend ! Finally.

i had an old buck on one of the properties I hunt. I had seen him across a field on another piece of property a couple of times. Once right in front of another persons treestand. But I watched him in the binoculars and could just tell he was an old timer. He was only a 7 point but had some nice mass. Tried calling him in but yeah hes a smart one and didnt fall for that. Two years later i found him in gun season dead in a little gully. No bullet holes or anything was thinking he prob just didnt make it thru another year. Always had wondered how old he was. But wouldve been something to get this smart old guy but never got close enough for the bow. I do have the horns at home.

I used to work for the NYSDOT snow and ice. I remember one time with a big storm they were short and asked people to stay over for the next shift. So i stayed and worked the whole next shift too and then into my shift again. Foreman came up to me and asked ....Have you gone home? how long have you been here damn - go home. - lol . yeah gets to be some long days. Staring at snow for hours sucks. also remember one time a big ice storm was supposed to hit though. It never did and we sat there for 12 hours with the trucks loaded with salt and running. Never left the barn. We loaded/unloaded them and washed them and sat for 12 hours on a saturday. Better days are coming - that fryer will be in use soon!
