Power outage from northeaster 24 hours no power no heat

Forecast for another possible nor easter on Wed . To effect the coast and far Eastern NY. -
Would be two years ago when i tagged my second turk for the season. Had a hot gobbler in the woods behind me and a coyote sneaking up on my decoy from across the field. He was crouched down and got to within about 20 yards and I had to wave my hands to shoo him off before he atacked my decoy and before the Tom saw us. The yote saw me and ran off and the Tom came out like a minute later and I took him. Must've sounded like a sweet hen that day.... everything was after me.

I don't think I like having this drill so down pat. Power out agian. Heaters out, fueled up little generator just in case. Nat grid outside on road in 15 minutes. Kudo's -
And.....mine is out again..

And then there's this.....https://articles.newyorkupstate.com/weather/2018/03/another_noreaster_could_hit_this_week_upstate_ny_impacts_uncertain.amp. And my snow blower bit it yesterday just before I finished. -
Bear makes a nice one that goes from 5-45 draw. But it's $300. I would suggest the one they have for like $65. That has a draw of 10-15 lbs for the age of 12. It's like $65. That way he can practice a bit with that and then buy a bow that will fit better for hunting in a couple years. Then would be able to get a bow that would fit and he would be able to adjust as he gets older.

The GF is 10 years younger than me, might have to start looking for one that's 10 years older than me just to balance that out...

Power outage from northeaster 24 hours no power no heat

Yeah it's crazy. Even if you get a couple of cheap portable propane heaters would prob help out. They are like $80 at Walmart. My furnace had an issue on new year's day at it was -18. Without those would've had a lot more problems. -

Can't fight mother nature. It's bets to be prepared. I always figure to be prepared for these things. If power was out and its 10 degrees then you have water issues to contend with. Be sure to have a backup heat source. My brother in the city of Watertown didn't have power for 2 weeks during that big ice storm. I look at it as .....I am 911. -
These look fun but $$/ Bluetooth lighted knocks
Robhuntandfish replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
Cool tech but too much $. And usually an arrow doesn't stay with the deer the whole way. A pass thru a lot of times or they break it off. I use nocturnals though and love them. Can see the shot placement and find the arrow to check for blood etc. But can get those at Walmart for $20 for 3. -
I've got permission for a spot that I can only bowhunt at last fall. Was thinking of trying a spring turkey hunt there. I was gonna use the same muzzy heads as I have for deer so that I know it shoots the same.

If we can become more self reliant on anything from bubble gum to bazookas I am all for it.

They have a rocky MTN elk foundation in the finger lakes? Seems like a good program to be a member of , heard good things about it , but didn't think there would be chapters in NY with no elk. Was surprised.

Power outage from northeaster 24 hours no power no heat
Robhuntandfish replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Good luck guys. No power sucks. We take it for granted until it's gone and how much we rely on it. Estimates are that 90 percent of Americans wpuldnt live if no power for a year. But yeah gotta have a backup plan. I have two little buddie heaters with 6 small propane tanks to get me by and then a propane line to attach to a larger tank that I have on the grill of I need it. And I always have an extra one of those in garage too. Then I have a little generator if need be . Hope you guys get power soon and am glad all is ok. Haven't ever heard of grid reimbursing anyone they wpnt set that precedent. One friend of mine did get them to pay some as they were on vacation and the power went out on their road and they never reset the pole by their house and they lost all their freezer stuff. Best of luck to all.
