  1. You must hunt a farm somewhere I'm a woods hunter and don't see birds and toms together like that lucky to catch one cruising. Lucky you!
  2. It's on tomorrow hope the turkeys get their rest on roost tonight. Ill be out bright and early gonna try a new spot where I seen a ton of them last deer season. A couple days ago they were in the middle of the road not far from where I plan to hunt 2 gobblers and 6-8 hens. Wish me luck. Gonna run and gun as usual.
  3. I know the lakes and ponds around me like franklin and union falls for walleye don't open till the 15th of may due to spawning. Northern might be another story but can wait to get on them. good luck fishing and stay safe.
  4. Country style spare ribs on the BBQ. Topped with sweet baby ray's and 3 with stubbs hickory bourbon bbq sauces. Served with loaded potato salad with mayo, bacon, onions, eggs, and tomatoes wife also seasoned it up also . With homemade mac and cheese and corn and pork and beans.
  5. Hunted this morning after I dropped the wife off at work. 815-1130. Nothing could hear a hen around me but she never appeared not one gobble. But did jump a moose on my way into my spot looked like a cow and alittle one was like 20-30 yards away just took my time not bothering her. Turkeys 1 Redneck 0. Will hunt Saturday be there be4 dark try to catch em off the roost.
  6. That's what I like to see good luck tomorrow on getting him.
  7. My buddies and I are going down either this weekend or next to troy to fish for strippers. We'll be out in my buddies boat. Hoping to land at least one first time fishing for them. Waiting on the bullhead to start biting up north.
  8. Going to be awhile for me middle of may is prime time up north. I have a few good spots on private land. Have had buddies get some on state land and get harassed by dec. I usually harvest a few quarts every year or 2. The leaves we just leave in the woods. I know some people keep the for salad there almost like a green tail onion. Some people use the leaves for soup also. Cant wait to start foraging.
  9. Happy Birthday Bionic enjoy your day. Cheers to you.
  10. Well today my wife asked me this morning to make my homemade venison chili. 2 cans rotel mild and 2 cans of tomato sauce. Venison burger, sweated onions, celery and green peppers. Then 2 cans of kidney beans and 1 can of black beans then another smaller red bean and finally pinto beans. Then the chili seasonings and set and forget for 8 hours occasional stirring here and there. Who hungry nice big crock pot filled? Pics to follow.
  11. I like to let my deer hang for at least a week with the skin still on it otherwise it'll dry out which makes more work during processing. I remember one time my buddy shot a deer in late November and we hung it well it froze and we had good cold temps. So he hung it in a cool dark shed and let it hang we never processed that deer till march. Best tasting venison tender as tender gets. When using my buddy's nuisance tags in the summer deer goes to processor.
  12. My family and I love venison. Ground, steaks, tenderloins, roasts, stew meat, sausage, my porketta neck roast I make. Just so much you can do with it and healthier for you.
  13. Who goes number 1 is the? Who will the bills get at 12? I think baker Mayfield is another johnny manziel. That's to be determined plus they say he's undersized.
  14. Tonight made venison michigans with ranch and bacon salad and leftover corn and beet salad. Very good.
  15. Well if you hunt the area's I hunt in the Adirondacks it's hard hunting. Lucky to see a deer or 2 let alone with antlers. So being my family loves venison it's meat first. Maybe my opinion would be different If I sat in the woods or along a field where i'd see 20-30 deer a night and choose what I wanted but that's not feesible to me. There's horn hunters and there's meat hunters to each their own.
  16. No pic tonight. We had bbq chicken thighs with stub's hickory bourbon BBQ sauce and some with Budweiser mesquite. Served with beet salad just beets mayo and onions. Also grilled corn that had mayo, chili powder, old bay, salt and pepper wrapped in tin foil. Great day great meal.
  17. Rock bass are great to eat. I love fishing for sunnies and blue gill and they're my favorite to eat very sweet.
  18. You can also use ice fishing jigs also. Swedish pimples work really well.
