  4. If you are going to bowhunt, I would strongly recommend checking out the bowsite forums. It's a bow hunting forum with people from around the country, every state has its own mini forum etc. you will get lots of info there. Once you decide on an amount you want to spend that will narrow your search down as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Why not just fly? It would be much shorter than 10 hours each way to go anywhere in the midwest. Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Wyoming, etc..... All depends on when you plan to hunt and what method? Some places have OTCs some will take a few years to get a tag, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Warm temps shouldn't be a concern. NY has a late start compared to other states. Many people killing deer in 90 degree temps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Yea he's going to call the county clerk office on both Monday. I did my diligence with tax mapping parcel viewer etc and so far everything ties out for both. So cheap that could potentially buy both pieces. The 20 acres is the most intriguing since it hunts much bigger since its surrounded by more vacant land and not houses. Both are under 30min from me in westchester. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Just an update: My dad found 2 nice pieces here in NY as well. 1 in dutchess county, 10 acres dirt cheap and the other is 20 acres in Putnam county, also dirt cheap. At the 10 acre property he kicked up 7 deer and saw lots of deer sign. At the 20 acre property he saw tons of deer sign, tons of acorns, and ran into a kid walking the street who said he sees deer all the time with "lots of points". Then he saw the neighbor outside who said he hunts sometimes and that the area is overpopulated with deer, lots of nice bucks. Not sure why the guy would say this unless he's just really a casual hunter? I know I wouldn't tell anyone about a good spot. The 20 acres border hundreds of state land that is NOT huntable. 19. I hear ya. I've only used a shotgun in NY. I sit on the ground and shoot off my knee. But some people who have farm fields may find it useful in NY for much longer shots. 100yds or less with a rifle is an offhand chip shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Same but I prefer to drag them first to nearest slight slope. I find it easier for draining. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. The additional XSR piece makes it like shooting off a bench. I use it all the time out west. Setups just like shooting sticks very quickly, but the extra piece makes it way easier to hold steady. Makes a huge difference at 300-500yds, but still useful at closer ranges as well. Here's a stock photo I found. Ive never had the time to strap the gun in during a spot and stalk hunt but it still works regardless. Especially when your huffing and puffing and trying to hold steady. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. This blows away the competition. Nothing compares Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
